L'Oreal Paris Advanced Haircare Smooth Intense Xtreme Straight Creme
Really Smooth. Might not need conditioner.
Since my hair always frizzes - but I know it can be shiny and straight with the right blow-out technique and accompanying product - I tried L'Oreal's Smooth Intense Xtreme Straight Creme because I'm tired of paying high prices for salon products. Did this ever work! Even I, who struggle with blow-drying my hair, got a smooth, soft look with this product. I know the smoothness was due to the Xtreme Straight Creme because my blow-drying technique didn't miraculously improve and all other variables (shampoo, conditioner) were the same. One thing I did notice when I dried my hair was steam. My surmise is this meant my hair was actually get dry (not dried-out), which is probably why this product delivers smooth results.

Wow. L'Oreal Volume Filler Fiber Amplifying Concentrate is a game-changer for me. My thin, fine hair looks and feels thicker, particularly at the crown, where thinning is most noticeable. I purchased the concentrate after looking at the shampoo and conditioner in this line and deciding I would rather add the active ingredient (L'Oreal's "Filloxane") to products I already have. That was the dollar-value move. L'Oreal provides 3 tubes per box. I've been adding about half a tube to my usual conditioner every time I wash my hair (about 2xs/week). This stuff works. I'm always about value, so of course larger quantity/lower price would make this even better...but it works. I haven't used the other products in this line, so I can't say how they operate in concert. I can say the Volume Filler is a keeper.

PHYTO Phytonectar Ultra Nourishing Shampoo With Orange Blossom
Beautiful scent, moisturizing shampoo
Phytonectar is a little pricey - but a worth-it splurge which delivers. My hair tends to be dry and is also fine, so I look for a moisturizing shampoo that doesn't weigh it down. Phytonectar moisturizes, and since it doesn't take much product to get results, the bottle lasts. The huge bonus for me is the lovely orange-petal scent. It's intense, but not overpowering. Use note: my hair is chin length. A very small amount of product (dime size?) does it. More product leaves my hair a bit greasy - which is a sign that it really is a moisturizing shampoo. I just don't love a greasy look/feel when I shampoo.

I've used this Clarins UV Plus HP sunscreen for many years (over 10). It has a milky consistency, goes on easily, and protects. Also - and this is very important to me, since I wear foundation and concealer almost every day - it doesn't "pill" or "curd" on interaction with other makeup products. (Many face-only sunscreens I've tried curd when exposed to makeup. That's frustrating, expensive, and not the best way to starat the day. In contrast, Clarins UV Plus works very well with all the types of foundation and concealer I've used over the years.) The only reason I'm not rating this product higher is because it is expensive. At a lower price point, this sunscreen is the one I would use every day for my face.

I hope they never discontinue "Disguise for Eyes." What does it do? Makes your eye-shadow wear like iron...won't budge even if you go swimming. It is also a tremendous value. I go through about one jar every 18 months, using a brush to apply. When eye-shadow bases came out in the '80s, I thought they were a novelty product designed to empty wallets. But for anyone who wears eye-shadow and wants it to stay put (without drying-out your eyelid), the Alexandra de Markoff Disguise for Eyes really is the gold standard for quality, delivery, and value.

Dove's Refresh+Care Invigorating Dry Shampoo definitely works. The very (VERY) strong fruity scent is so off-putting, however, that I spray this outside while holding my breath. If the perfume were removed, this would be the perfect dry shampoo as it really does the big 3: (1) remove grease; (2) without residue; and (3) adds volume to fine hair.
