I primarily use this product for my acne and acne scars even though it is marketed as a skin lightner. I found this product while pregnant and was breaking out a lot. Many of the ingredients in the serum are actually also acne fighters but are not considered harmful to use during pregnancy. It worked better than expected, fading acne scars quickly and helped reduce the number of break outs. Since the amount of product in the bottle is small, I went through the Lightning serum pretty quickly and tried a different brand with similar active ingredients. However this other brand was much harsher on my skin and more drying which made me understand the idea behind Cosmedix's chirally correct skin care products- effective ingredients with minimal irritation. Now that I am breaking out again with deeply embedded pimples, I repurchased the Lightning serum and it has helped clear up my skin again and fade the scars as well. I can see results within a week of using the serum and have tried so many other less effective products that the price is worth it. The only (slight) downside to the serum is that it feels tacky on the face but if you use it only at night then it should be no problem.

During the winter my skin became dry and annoyingly flaky. I purchased the Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream in the non-fragrance version because it contained niacinamide, which helps strengthen your skin and retain moisture. After using the cream my face was no longer flaky and it didn't seem to clog my pores (I have acne prone skin). The cream is thicker than I am used to but was perfect for the dry winter and goes on smoothly without feeling heavy. Also a little goes a long way.

I have been breaking out lately and my skin has been oily so I wanted to switch from liquid foundation to a mineral powder foundation which is suppose to be non-irritating for acne prone skin. Neutrogena Mineral Sheers Loose Powder Foundation has done a good job of providing medium coverage on my skin so my blemishes are pretty much concealed (when using a separate, dense foundation brush) and has not made my acne worse. I have tried the Neutrogena Mineral Sheers compact powder foundation but found that it provided less coverage than the loose powder version. The loose powder also has a nice finish, not too matte not too dewy- just natural. I have also tried Bare Escentuals mineral powder foundation which provides slightly more coverage but nothing that would completely cover my acne and scars so, to me, it is not worth paying the extra money for minimal improvement.
