  • Fresh Rose Deep Hydration Facial Toner

Though this might not be the most appealing product to display on your bathroom sink (it's brown and has a bunch of rose petal floaters in it), I've grown quite fond of it. I feel like it perks my skin up and helps leave my face clean. I also really dig the light rose scent -- and I'm not much of a rose-lover. However, it loses a couple points in my book because I don't feel like it totally delivers on the hydration claim. Yes, I like the way it makes my skin feel, but if I'm going for hydration, I'm going to use an essence or lotion.

    Better Skin Lava Magik

Leaves Skin Smooth (But Maybe Too Abrasive for Sensitive Skin)

I used this product as an exfoliator, though it can also be used as a mask. As a scrub, it definitely got the job done. It has a dense concentration of exfoliants, so you really feel like you're sloughing off dead skin as you use it. Afterward, my skin felt noticeably softer. I really like the brand's story and the ingredients. However, I know this product is advertised as being good for rosacea and eczema, but I feel as though this might be a little abrasive for sensitive skin types. My only other quibble: I got a particle in my eye twice when I used this, which seems like it could be a coincidence, but it's something that never happens with my other scrubs (so proceed with care!).

  • Touch In Sol Metallist Liquid Foil Lipstick Duo

This lipstick is a lot of fun. It's dual ended. First, you apply the metallic side, which on its own gives lips that futuristic gleam that's so hot right now. After letting it dry for a minute (or a few seconds, if you're impatient like myself), you apply the gloss side, which is very glittery. The overall effect is like a sexy robot/alien/star baby, and it's pretty comfortable. Very fun for going out and hitting the town. Probably not the best pick for your day at the office (depending on where you work). This didn't have great longevity, but it also didn't wipe off immediately. One gripe: I felt like the metallic lipstick really settled in my lip creases.

  • Urban Decay Rehab Makeup Prep Hot Springs Hydrating Gel

Urban Decay is billing its new launches as makeup prep, rather than skin care, which really seemed apt, based on this product. The gel moisturizer is so lightweight, it's almost more like a hydrating primer than a traditional moisturizer. It works well for daytime (especially on warm days and on my more-oily-than-dry-skin), but I don't think it provides enough nourishment to use overnight, during dry winter months or on drier skin. It gives skin some suppleness, but absorbs quickly, which is ideal for makeup application.

    Kerastase Aura Botanica Essence D'Eclat

    Helps My Hair Dry Smooth

MS: I'm really digging this stuff. First, it's really easy to apply. The applicator effectively disperses a fine mist throught the hair, without saturating certain sections, as happens with oils I apply with my hands. As a result, I feel like a little goes a long way. Two to three spritzes are all my thick hair needs. I mostly air-dry my hair, and this seems to reduce frizz while leaving it feeling soft and looking shiny. I feel like my hair looks and feels healthier after I use this.

  • NYX Cosmetics Faux Blacks Eyeliner

I'd totally recommend this eyeliner. It performed as well as my more expensive liners (think: Marc Jacobs, Lorac, Urban Decay), but only costs $8. It lasted all day and went on smoothly. It also helps that I was already a fan of using black alternatives, which I find look less severe on my eyes. In particular, I really liked the dark purple. The dark green is pretty too. My only gripe is that I wish this were a self-sharpening pencil, as I always seem to misplace my sharpener.

Drybar Detox Whipped Dry Shampoo Foam

Cool, Smells Amazing, Gets the Job Done

I am a sucker for a lot of Drybar products for the heavenly signature scent alone -- and in that regard, this product is no exception. Even my unwashed hair had that fresh-from-the-blowout-bar smell to it. As far as performance goes, this isn't a bad product. The mousse, once dry, definitely helps absorb/mask oily strands. And it was pretty easy to apply. Though this stuff gets points for innovation, I'm just not sure if a foam dry shampoo brings anything to the table that a standard dry shampoo does. I suppose you have more control over where you're applying and can really get up into your scalp, but you also have to get your hands dirty (literally). In sum, I think this is good, cool, but I doubt it'll replace my other go-to dry shampoos.

Ole Henriksen Pore-Balance Facial Sauna Scrub

    Refreshing, but Not the Greatest

I really wanted to love this product because I'm a fan of the cleanser and toner in this line (which are both great for oily skin, btw). Unfortunately, this scrub ultimately fell short for me. Though I really liked that it contains a mix of chemical and physical exfoliants and how refreshing it feels on the skin, I prefer much finer and more concentrated exfoliating grains. The grains in this scrub felt too big (on the verge of being painful), but weren't dense enough to feel like they were doing anything. I'll stick with the cleanser and toner, but I won't repurchase the scrub.

  • Lano Rose Hand Cream Intense

    Lano Rose Hand Cream Intense

    Hydrating and Non-Greasy Hand Cream

I cannot stand greasy hand creams, which is why I think this matte formula works so well. It absorbs instantly and doesn't leave skin feeling oily. The rose scent isn't overpowering, it successfully makes my hands feel soft and nourished, and a little goes a long way. My only word of caution: Though this doesn't leave skin greasy, it does have a slightly tacky finish. While it doesn't bother me, I could see how others may not enjoy that aspect.

    Makeup Geek Showstopper Creme Stain

Lightweight, Comfortable, But Not the Most Flattering Liquid

Another incredibly lightweight liquid lipstick formula! This isn't terribly drying, and I found it easy to apply. However, I feel like it's not quite as opaque as I'd like it to be, and it seems to accentuate the dry patches and lines on my lips. I love the slender packaging. Not a bad price, either!
