  • Maybelline New York Volum' Express The Rocket Mascara

I'm a mascara junkie so of course I had to try this when it came out in waterproof. I put it on like I do with my other mascaras, by applying it first, using the brush inside my lashes and outside as a second coat and cleaning up the gunk left over with a q-tip and it coasted quite nicely. It doesn't add much length, but it does add volume. It's pretty easy to add layers and build volume and the best part is it doesn't clump! It behaves quite nicely and even after crying and allergies, it stays put after an 18 hour day. I'm impressed. It takes some good eye makeup remover to take off and a little tugging, so I had to mark it down for that, but if you want true waterproof and volume without clumping, this is your new found friend!

  • Garnier Nutrisse Nourishing Color Foam

I color my red hair different shades about every 4 weeks and have grays that need to be covered as well and I was a little worried that this stuff wouldn't hold up to the typical Garnier hair color... but it did! With my short spiky hair, I literally could have stored and saved half the application bottle for touch-up, so there is plenty more color than the regular creme colors. It was also very kind to my scalp. I didn't get a burning sensation at all and the roots and grays were blended perfectly. Believe it or not, this color actually lifted more than I thought it would and my hair turned out a beautiful dark reddish blonde and the color has held up to shampoo and the elements VERY well. I will definitely purchase again and again. This is a winner!

  • L'Oreal Paris Voluminous Million Lashes Waterproof Mascara

Ok, so I really wanted to try this mascara and all of my mascara has to be waterproof. This stuff is waterproof, BUT the formula is a tad goopy and heavy and putting even 2 coats on makes your lashes look volumized, but in a clumpy kind of way. The brush doesn't allow for the greatest separation and plants a lot of product at once, which makes it hard to control. I ended up using an older brush from another mascara to get it to separate my lashes. If you are willing to work for about 5 minutes on your lashes to get them separated and fan them out, then this isn't that bad. I persoanlly want to have a good coverage and build-able product, not ALL the product on in one sweep. The mascara is really waterproof and does NOT flake at all. I wish the brush was thinner and not as fat, then it would make this mascara a good 9-10 on my scale. I'll try and post a pic with the results after 2 coats AND after working to get the lashes separated after about 5 minutes....

  • Vaseline Intensive Care Cocoa Radiant Body Gel Oil

This stuff really moisturizes and lasts a long time to lock in intense moisture. It's best to use after a shower, but even on days that I see dry skin hours after a shower, I can put it on and it will instantly make my skin feel like butter. It's greasy, but it's an oil, so no surprises there. I LOVE to slather this on my feet when they're really dry and put on some nice cotton socks or spa socks and let it work magic overnight. When I do this, I wake up with the softest feet ever. Just be forewarned, if you put this on, leave some time before you get dressed, because there IS a residue after application and it could possibly stain your clothes. Alas, this moisturizer will be a huge help during the upcoming dry Michigan winter

Nivea A Kiss of Smoothness SPF 10

    Works quite well...

I fully admit that I really like this lip balm even though I though I wouldn't. I grabbed it on a whim after the weather started to get cooler here in Michigan and am pleased. It goes on smoothly, no grainy feel and has a slight soothing coconut/vanilla scent to it, so it doesn't smell like chemicals. The down side for me, it doesn't stay on very long. It seems like it coats well but doesn't penetrate very deeply while it's on, so that's a bummer. Long story short, I end up using more of the product than usual, BUT I have found BOGO packs in local discount stores many time so that makes it a not-so-big deal. Overall, I'd buy it again and will definitely keep it handy this winter

  • Rimmel London Max Volume Flash Mascara

So this mascara claimed that you get 14x more volume and looked promising... BUT all it did for me was take 14 strokes to try and get my lashes coated and that was still an epic fail. The bristles on this brush are so far apart between the swirls that it MIGHT catch 1/8th of your lashes in one stroke. I used 4 coats on my first try of this mascara and my lashes were so goopy and clumped I wanted to throw the tube across the room. There were specs and trails of the mascara on my upper eye lids from the large, bulky round brush getting in the way and spreading the mascara EVERYWHERE. It created a "start from scratch" scenario where I had to take everything off solely because of this messy goop. If they re-designed the brush, it might be a good product, but until then, I'm sticking to the newer plastic "briar" style brushes that have hundreds of little plastic bumps that help distribute the product more evenly to my thin lashes

  • CoverGirl Intense ShadowBlast

I'm usually the Paint Pot user as a primer/shadow in one to cut down on a step for my every day eye shadow, but I wanted an alternative and larger color selection to the expensive pots and decided to try the intense shadow blast. This stuff is amazing. It really does stay put as not only a primer but an eye shadow itself with all the great colors. It is easy to build up to a bright hi-lighting color or you can do a simple thin sweep for just a subtle base. I would give it a 10, but all the colors currently available are frosty with shimmer.... they'd get a 10 if they came out with matte colors - and then I would immediately go out and buy all the shades! Goodbye Paint Pots, hello affordable primer and shadow in one! Kudos CG!!!!

  • Bari Cosmetics Pure Ice Nail Enamel

I love the smoothness and drying time of this polish. The pigments in every color I have tried so far are much better than other drug store brands and rank right up there with higher priced brands. The array of colors allows me to do so many nail designs and just have fun. It wears on top of my Kiss glue on nails the entire 10-12 days I wear my nails (I haven't wore acrylics in over 5 years after finding the perfect glue-on nails) and has never once chipped on me. If you're wearing on bare nails, I highly recommend a base coat because of the intense colors. I do friends nails a lot and it will leave behind some color residue if you don't use a good base or clear coat. I even have the crackle version of ICE and it's beat out 2 other brands as well. Awesome buy. I'd give it a 10 but some of the colors they come out with sell out quickly and it's hard to find them again

    Broadway Nails Nude French Deceptions

They'll do as a back up

Broadway is my second go-to for nails when the Kiss nails are out of stock. They do much better with the Kiss brand nail glue. They rarely break or bend on me but they do wear down much faster and for someone like me who wears my nails squared, they will wear into oval tips within 3 days of normal wear and tear. They're not bad though and can do in a pinch and as my 2nd choice for glue on nails, and I've wore glue-on's for the past 5 years straight... no acrylics here!

    Kiss Natural Curves Nail Kits

    The best nails around...

I swear by Kiss nails and have for over 5 years now. I get so many compliments from gals who tell me my nails don't look acrylic and look so natural. On average, I can wear a set of Kiss nails about 12 days and I have to take them off, they don't just pop off on me. I looooved the Natural Curve nails especially and I can now only find them around Halloween ( I have spider web nails with black tips now from Kiss) and near the holidays when they have specialty designs on them. I find them at national drug stores in their Halloween displays and Christmas displays. I've even went so far as to file off the Halloween design and paint them plain white after picking them up half off at the drug stores. They last and are so strong I can actually use these without pampering them. I wish Kiss would bring the regular white tips back again for the Natural Curves - they were the best out there and I miss them!
