L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche La Palette Nude

    L'oreal La Palette Nude 2

I received this palette in Nude 2 to review from Total Beauty. The palette itself is rather large (about 7” long and 3” wide) and stocks ten colors of browns and mauves. I think it’s a nice, sleek palette that is actually kind of nice to look at and is sturdy to handle. It comes with a dual sided applicator with your standard foam applicator on one end and a serviceable brush on the other that doesn’t pick up that much color and is better for more diffuse application. On the back are four suggested looks using the colors in the palette, and apparently there is an app that stocks a lot more. Unfortunately, I have light skin with yellow undertones, and most of the looks—especially involve the mauves—made my eyes look bruised and I wish the colors were a little warmer (as in with more yellow undertones rather than pink) because of that. I also really would suggest using a lighter color on the inner eye than a darker color (unlike what the palette suggests) to combat that “sunken in” look. Anyways, the palette has a good variety of light and dark colors in both matte and shimmering finishes, but I don’t think the pigment itself it that rich (definitely a little “dusty”) and I found myself having to apply more than I usually do to get the color to show up on my light skin. After that, I found them a little hard to blend and having to rub at my eyelids a bit more than I normally would. Wear-wise, I think that the eyeshadow wears fine, as in it doesn’t fade or crease, even without primer or finishing spray. All in all, it’s a serviceable palette, but the quality of the shadows itself isn’t spectacular.

Rimmel London Exaggerate Automatic Lip Liner

Can be a bit crumbly and chalky, but great product!

I use this with Revlon Super Lustrous lipstick and a lip balm and it makes my color basically immovable for the like six or so hours, and slows the fading of the lipstick immensely. It goes on smooth, but feels a bit dry on my lips, so I use it over a lip balm. I own it in "innocent" which is a light tan color, and it works well as a base for all my lipsticks without showing through or marring the color on top, whether it is a bright red or a light pink or a deep purple. The container is an autosharpening pencil with a cap, and I would recommend either applying it with only a small tip peeping out of the tube and with a light hand--or else it might crumble!

    NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil

    Versatile product!

Okay, so this product is mostly mineral oil, which with my oily skin I thought would not jive, but it doesn't make me break out. Something to keep in mind, though. Anyways, I use this pencil in "Milk" for my eyebrows for costumes, for highlighting when contouring my face, and for eyeliner. It works well for all purposes, but it's more "dense" oily texture makes it hard to blend sometimes if you choose to use this for contouring making you look like you have pearly stripes on your face if you don't blend a bit more. The pencil also works well as a base for your eyebrows or eyelids if you want the color on top to be more vivid. The pencil is creamy and not chalky, and sharpens easily without crumbling. However, the rich texture may put on more product than you want, so draw with a light hand. This texture does allow it to stay on your face for longer periods of time, though.

    Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick

Good quality lipstick for the price, but can be drying and fade easily

I own this is "Fire and Ice," which is a great bright red lipstick for those with fair skin with yellow undertones. I also have it in "Primrose," which is a dusky, pastel pink with some bluer undertones. I normally am used to the balmy feeling of lip balm on my lips, so I felt that using the lipstick on its own was kind of uncomfortable, but it didn't look "dry" (cracked) in photographs. The lipstick itself glides on smoothly and opaquely, even without lip liner underneath. The staying power is fine, but if you eat, the lipstick will fade. The container is pretty cute in a nice black lacquered tube with a clear end so you can see what colour you have.

    EOS Smooth Sphere Lip Balm

    Pretty nice, charming container

I have this lip balm in "Vanilla Mint," and use it about every night before bedtime for the past year and I still have more than 75% of the product left. It goes on smoothly without being goopy, and has no taste and a nice fragrance that, to me, isn't too strong. If you're worried about the mint, I didn't find that this felt like it was numbing my lips or anything. The container is easy to use and carry around, though the shape does bar it from being stowed in inhumanly tight pockets. I also wish it had SPF or else I would love to use it outside. Sometimes if spots on the back of my hands feel dry, I use it on those, too, and it isn't too greasy or light for that purpose, though I would hesitate using it on your palms.

    Clinique Facial Soap

The perfect cleanser, perfect for travel

I took off one star because all bar soaps make my skin feel like a rubber chicken. It's not unpleasant, just a bit weird. I used the mild formula and it's great. Does everything the liquid version does: cleans without stripping, and leaves my face soft. Just be careful that you don't get it into your eyes, boy does it hurt. You get an ENORMOUS bar that's lasted me over a year. I recommend lathering it with your hands and applying the lather on rather than rubbing the bar straight onto your face because of the size, unless you can successfully navigate a giant soap brick into all the corners on your face.

    Clinique Clarifying Lotion 3

    Best toner I've ever tried

Okay you get a humongous bottle (if you pick the larger of the two sizes). Clinique is pretty generous with their volume sizes compared to the other department store brands. This toner gets all the gunk off my face that I missed (and you can see it on the cotton ball!) but doesn't make my face feel like it's burning with the intensity of a thousand suns like drugstore toners. It calms down the oil on my face, making it the perfect toner.

    Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2

    Love this toner.

After running out of my clarifying lotion 3, I decided to take 2 for a spin. It burns a bit on the first few applications, like the formula 3, but it has a different smell...I wouldn't say grape (LOL) but it's not unpleasant. You get a big bottle for the price that some *cough* brands only give yu 6oz for. (you get around 13 and a half, I believe) It gets off all the leftover crap off my face, and when I look on the cotton ball--how amazing it is that your face looks clean, but is not really. I don't break out when using Clinique products, and pimples are a thing of the past. It doesn't dry out your face or leave you flakey.

    Revlon Perfect Heat Curling Iron

Who needs to spend more than $20 on a curler?

I bought this on a whim when strolling through Walmart. I always wanted a change from my usually straight hair, so I got this one because it was cheap but also ceramic so it wouldn't damage my locks as much as with metal. I just wish the barrel was longer, and the clamp was designed differently because sometimes I get telltale crease on my curls. Anyways, it works splendidly without damaging my hair. It heats up very quickly and is very easy to clean, and the swivel cord ensures it doesn't tangle up during use.

    Revlon Ultimate Tweezer Slant Tip

    My favorite tweezers!

I would not pay $20 for a tweezer that works as well as this baby does. It gets all the spiky hairs, small hairs, and just all hairs in general. The design makes it cooler than typical tweezers (lol). It makes tweezing not so much of a pain anymore.
