As an avid long-time user of Essie nail pamperers, I've never been disappointed with her. Where do I start? The color collection is vast, innovative, and ultra-modern. Everything from the bottle construction to the brush makes doing your own manicures a breeze. I'm not sure what really makes the brush shape so different from others, but it seems to make it easier to achieve an even, smooth application. Every color I've tried gives nails a bright and glossy vibrancy. Another plus: they really cling to my nails for dear life, especially with Essie's Good to Go top coat. My favorite colors amongst my ever-growing stash? I love In Stitches, But Me a Cameo, Eternal Optimist, Chinchilly, Bordeaux, and Sugar Daddy. I know the $4.00 polishes at the drugstore can be more alluring, but Essie is worth the higher price!

CoverGirl TRUBlend Minerals Loose Powder
It's a perfectly fine alternative to the pricier stuff in department stores.
I was actually quite impressed with this ultra-silky "finishing" powder. I'm not sure if the shade of the powder impacts the result, but I use the brand's mineral loose powder in 405, which is translucent fair. Ultimately, it doesn't leave my face with a wash of perky looking color that a bronzer does, but it seems to set my foundation remarkably well, and even appears to even out my skin a bit. Even with my combination skin, I find that it gives my very fair skin a soft "candlelight" glow. I don't recommend this powder on its own. It works very well in conjunction with foundation, pressed powder, concealer, and blush as a sort of finishing touch.

I switched from beauty supply to drugstore brands as I tightened my budget. But thankfully, it hasn't compromised the look of my brows. And trust me, my natural brows are uneven, sparse, and pretty much far from nice-looking without a touch of a filler. So this is saying a lot. From my experience, I've found that this product can work as a good "base." I like to use this pencil to create an ideal shape for my brows. Since it's hard to apply a lot of product without a streaky fake-looking "drawn" effect, I like to go a bit lighter with this stuff. To really darken the fill of my brows, I "set" the pencil with Maybelline Ultra Brow Brush-On Color.

Don't get me wrong, this stuff works like a charm. Just as it's cute and clever name suggests, the Brownies have a rich, silky, soft texture that makes the product a cinch to apply. Just a light stroke is all that's needed to get a substantial application. This makes it easier to create a natural look, even if your brows are battered by plucking-fests, as mine are. Seriously, my dark brows look like the product of an unexperienced eye-brow plucker who zealously went to work after getting her first pair of $25 Tweezerman tweezers. I don't know what I'd do without my brow pencils and fillers. This pencil works so well that I hardly used the little brush at the end of it. Since the pencil is so soft, it's good to remember to use a gentle and steady hand. With too much pressure, the pencil tip can easily get a bit dull quickly. And with its price-tag, you might wanna get the most use out of this product. That leads me to my only beef with this stuff. I stopped using it after purchasing it twice because I really shouldn't be repeatedly spending around $25 for an eyebrow pencil. At least not right now, with my current college student budget. Nevertheless, if you're passionate about finding an amazing product to leave your brows behold-worthy, and price isn't an issue, Too Faced is a great investment.

As a fair-skinned gal, I gotta work harder to get the all-over glow those tanner girls sport. I've tried my hand of products, and I've got to say that this gem is hands-down my favorite. Before I even opened this jar, I was pleased by the price-tag. I picked this up at Rite-Aid for about $8, which is far cheaper than another scrub I tried (which pretty much failed to impress me). Ginger often comes across as a kind of "meh-sounding" scent for body treats. At least to me it did. But when I opened this container in the midst of a warm, soothing shower, I was greeted with a sweet and spicy aroma that left me even more relaxed. This stuff is DENSE, too. Ever stare with disappointment into an empty jar of expensive body scrub that lasted maybe, like, a week? Happily, this joy-killer did not comprise my experience with this product. A little bit goes a long way. I also loved the utter "grittiness" this scrub delivered. I understand that some skin types don't fare well with harsh scrubs. But if, like me, you're looking for an intense body exfoliation, just turn to this powerful little tub of wonderfulness. My skin looked and felt fresh, revived, and bright. It's like St. Ives for your arms, legs, elbows, feet, and knees! And other places below your neck.
