Max Factor Vivid Impact Lip Color

    Great MAC knockoffs!

Custom designed by makeup guru Pat McGrath and used frequently on the runway of Spring/Summer 2009 New York Fashion Week, Max Factor's Vivid Impact Lipcolor is a definite must-have for all lipstick lovers. The new lipcolor comes in 20 gorgeous pure pigment shades of pinks, reds, beiges/browns, mauves and wines/burgundies to suit a variety of skin tones and tastes. Thanks to its rich shea butter formula, the lipstick has a creamy texture that feels so light and so moisturizing I do not have to prep my dry lips with lip balm. Plus like my favorite MAC lipsticks, the color really pops and wears very well. I also love that Max Factor added a “show-shade” button on the bottom of the lipstick to showcase the color, meaning you will be able to pick out the color you are looking for without having to open the tube. Seriously, what's not to love about this lipstick?

  • Max Factor 2000 Calorie Extreme Lash Plumper

Max Factor 2000 Calorie Extreme Lash Plumper

    Great formula, not-so-great brush!

If you liked Cover Girl’s Lash Blast mascara, chances are you will love Max Factor’s 2000 Calorie Extreme Lash Plumper. Just like the Lash Blast, the Extreme Lash Plumper Mascara has a big plastic brush, bulky packaging and a patented fat-wrap formula that promises to wrap and plump every single lash, from root to tip. So did it deliver the thickness it claimed? You bet! My lashes looked instantly fuller, darker and I love how you can really pile this baby on without clumping or ending up with stiff, brittle lashes. It also wears really well and does not smear/smudge until I take it off with warm water and remover. My only complaint is the big fat brush. While it does help thicken, I find it hard to maneuver on my tiny Asian lashes (a long, slender brush like the one in L’oreal’s Clean Definition Telescopic Mascara tends to work best on me). Plus when it comes to the lengthening department, this does not seem to do much at all (see how short my lashes are in the picture below!) I would not recommend it unless you have longer lashes to begin with.

  • L'Oreal Paris EverPure Moisture Conditioner

If you want salon quality haircare at drugstore prices, this is it! EverPure is designed specifically for colored hair and it features an anti-fade system that is free from harsh salts, sulfates and surfactants so your color stays vibrant up to 32 washes. Since I have dry, long hair that has been colored way too many times, I got the Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner and I am telling you, they are comparable, if not better, than my Matrix Sleek Smoothing Shampoos and Conditioners! The shampoo feels pretty thick and lathers really well. My hair feels super clean and is completely tangle-free after one wash. The conditioner also does a great job smoothing out and moisturizing my hair without adding grease. Another thing I love about this line is the smell. Both products have a very strong smell (the shampoo smells of rosemary and juniper and the conditioner smells of rosemary and mint) but are great pick-me-ups after a long day. Plus this line is 100% vegan so there are no testing on animals or animal byproducts. How can you not love this?

  • DDF Protect and Correct

    DDF Protect and Correct

I have always liked DDF's products but this was a disappointment

Unlike most sunscreens, this contains a micro-radiance complex that claims to correct discoloration while preventing further damage caused by UVA/UVB rays. It goes on slightly greasier than most moisturizers and takes quite a while to sink in completely. On my dehydrated combination skin, it leaves behind a semi-dewy finish, but on those with oily skin, it may look greasy. I have some freckles on my cheeks and discoloration around my mouth and I did not see any difference after using the product religiously for a month. The SPF 15 is also a little too low for my taste. So even though I do like the idea of a 2-in-1 product, this is not worth the $58.

    Broadway Nails Real Life

This is definitely wayyyyyyyyy better than the traditional glue-on nails!

Compared to the old glue-on nails, these are definitely a lot easier to use. The instructions are very simple and it took me less than 10 minutes to get all 10 nails on. The results are very natural and I *loved* how shiny my nails looked! The new, shorter length also makes wearing them so easy and hassle-less! Another thing I liked is the new pink gel glue. Not only does it come with a twist-off cap (no more push pins yay!), it is slightly thicker so you get more time to adjust the nail before it dries. It also seems to do a lot less damage to my natural nail and does not leave behind any stains. My only complaint is the longevity. Although the nails never chipped, they started falling off by the third day. Removing them, however, was so much more painless than the glue-on nails I used in the past. All in all, I think this product has surpassed old glue-on nails and is great if you are looking for something fast and quick for a special occasion.

  • L'Oreal Paris Ideal Skin Genesis Daily Moisturizer SPF 15 Lotion

This is a moisturizer that is meant to be used after the Daily Treatment Serum Concentrate to "create a more flawless complexion by evening skin's tone and instantly smoothing skin's surface". Compared to the Serum, this feels slightly heavier and stickier. It does do a pretty much good job moisturizing my skin and the micro-shimmer also helps to create a subtle glow to mimic perfect skin. One weird thing I noticed is that whenever I apply this on top of the serum, it would peel and flake after a while and this never happens when I use the Serum under other moisturizers. I have also used the lotion on its own and did not experience any peeling either. Other than that, this is a pretty basic moisturizer that does what it delivers.

  • L'Oreal Paris Ideal Skin Genesis Daily Treatment Serum Concentrate

I have been using this religiously for the past 3 weeks and my dehydrated combination skin has never looked better! The Daily Treatment Serum Concentrate is basically a clear, highly concentrated gel that "deeply penetrates skin's surface to even skin tone and immediately tighten". The texture feels a little sticky but it gets absorbed into the skin instantly, with a slight tightening effect. I use this before I apply my MAC Prep + Prime Face Protect SPF50 in the AM and after I clean my face and before my moisturizer in the PM. My skin feels and stays smooth and hydrated all day, just like the effect I get with NARS Aqua Gel Hydrator - but at a fraction of the price! Highly recommended!

L'Oreal Paris Sublime Bronze ProPerfect Airbrush Self-Tanning Mist

Great self-tanner only if you can get it to go on evenly

I read a lot of raves about this product but no matter how hard I try, I cannot get it to work for me. It always comes out splotchy and I would get a lot of color in certain areas and none in others. I also did not like that the product is only good for 6 months. Nonetheless, I do have to give L'oreal props for a few things. The mist does makes it super easy for you to reach certain places like your back compared to the regular lotion. It also dries rapidly without staining clothes or sheets and once it is dry, it does not come off easily. The color develops within a few hours and on the areas where I do get color, I do like how it turns out - it is a very natural golden color that does not look orange at all. Lastly, it does not have the foul smell most self-tanners do which is a HUGE plus. Now if only I can get this to go on evenly *sigh*

  • Bourjois Stick Concealer

    Bourjois Stick Concealer

    Not worth the money!

Having a concealer in a cute tube with a built-in mirror on the cap is definitely a genius idea! It is so easy to carry around and makes touching up on the go so easy! But other than the cute packaging, this concealer is a very average product. The texture is creamy and blendable but the coverage is not enough to eradicate your undereye circles completely. The color selection is another thing that sucked. There are only two shades available - a pink-based beige and a golden-based beige both in light shades - so if you do not fall under those two shades, you will not be able to find a match. I say save your money for something else - there are definitely better products out there for this price.
