  • Elizabeth Arden Prevage Anti-Aging Daily Serum

The following is a review from my mother. She started using this product a few months ago and I asked her to document her experience: When my daughter asked me to become a guinea pig for an “age defying serum” called Prevage, my first reaction was, “that ship has sailed.” At age 61, there are deep lines and heavy bags under the eyes. But nice skin is one of my better features for my age even though I can claim never to have spent more than $30 on any one beauty product. So, to say I was skeptical is an understatement. I diligently cleansed and applied the Prevage serum followed by my usual moisturizer twice a day. On the fifth day, I noted that the heavy bags under my eyes looked less puffy. After a full week, it looks like I traded my overstuffed bags for light carry ons! After 3 weeks now, effects seem to have plateaued on the “bags,” but I am pleased with waking with very little puffiness now, compared to the heavy bags. My overall skin tone seems better and I feel that the old skin cells are sloughed off each day. I would recommend this product to middle aged women who want to improve skin tone and reduce signs of aging around the eyes.

  • NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer

First of all, I have pale skin. Like the palest skin a human can possibly have while still being considered alive. It's near IMPOSSIBLE to find any concealer that is both light and pink enough for me as I am consistently one or two shades lighter and pinker than the lightest color in about 90% of makeup lines, and this stuff in the shade Chantilly has ended my struggle. Not only does it match my skin tone perfectly, it acts as a highlighting concealer. I have no idea what kind of sorcery the chemists over at NARS have been performing, but there is no visible shimmer or anything and when you put it specifically under your eyes they just POP. That said, it covers blemishes very well and can full well be a full coverage concealer if you so wish. And to make it even better, it lasts all day, what more could you ask for?

    Temptu Signature Starter Kit

    ABSOLUTELY AMAZING

This is 100% worth the price. I just can't get over how amazing it is. They've got shades that match me EXACTLY and I don't even look like I have makeup on! Just...wow. I asked for a demo when I saw it was new at Sephora, and immediately thought it would be impossible to use and I wouldn't be able to do it myself. Boy, was I wrong. It's probably one of the easiest to use makeup items I've ever tried. And you never even have to touch your face, so there are never any brushes to clean! I'll never go back to normal makeup now that I have this! It makes my skin look absolutely FLAWLESS! And it lasts all day too. Even though it's really expensive, it's one of my best makeup buys ever. I recommend this! You will NOT be disappointed.

  • CoverGirl LipPerfection Lipcolor

This is one of my favorite lines of lipstick. I went to target going to pick out a Milani lipstick I heard about...but I ended up leaving with 2 of these babies. Enchantress and Temptress are both gorgeous. One's an extremely bright pretty coral color and the other's a bright shimmery hot pink. This lipstick honestly lasts me all day. It actually even stains my lips a bit, which is definitely okay with me since it lessens the amount of times I need to reapply (which is maybe only ONCE to intensify the color). These lipsticks are really creamy and go on really nice. They feel really good on your lips too. I have naturally dry lips, and I didn't even have to apply balm before I put this lipstick on. It was almost balm-like the way it moisturized my lips! There are also SO many colors to choose from. It's impossible to pick just one. Thankfully, they're super affordable so you don't have to! The colors are super bright and colorful (and soft and nude if that's what you choose) and they're just...so pretty on your lips! This is definitely the best drugstore lipstick I've tried so far. I recommend it.

  • Orly Matte Top

    Orly Matte Top

    Not matte

The name of this product is extremely misleading. It's really not matte. It's more of a nice, pretty satin finish, which I don't mind, but I paid 11 dollars for it expecting it to be completely matte. As for all matte topcoats, it's going to shorten the amount of time your nail polish lasts before it starts chipping, so that wasn't a surprise to me. The realy problem I have with it is that it bubbles on me, which I haven't had a problem with ever since I learned how to apply nail polish properly. This has to be applied in 2 VERY thin layers so that you don't end up with bubbles all over your nails. Even though I love the ORLY bottle with the rubber grip, this product disappointed me as a whole, and wouldn't purchase this again. China Glaze's Matte Magic is my HG product, and I'm going to be going back to that.

  • OPI SKYFALL

    OPI SKYFALL

    I LOVE this collection!

I was extremely excited when I heard about this collection. I'm a huge Bond fan, and I loved the Skyfall movie! The colors are beautiful. They're mainly reds, blues and golds, and they're all really sophisticated looking. You won't find any bright colors in this collection, but that's not a problem for most people. I have almost the entire collection, and they're of typical amazing OPI quality. Two of my favorites are Skyfall (A muted burgundy-red creme color) and a gold sparkly polish with copper undertones, but I'm in love with the entire collection! I don't yet own the gold topcoat, but that's sure to be one of my next purchases. Good job OPI!

    NYX Cosmetics NYX Trio Eyeshadow

    Amazing for the price

I have about 3 of these, and I really do love them. They've duped many high-end brand colors (for example, in the Nude/Taupe palette there's a dupe for Urban Decay's Bootycall, and Naked2) and they have such a nice feel. They're super buttery and go on smooth. They last a long time, and are pretty well pigmented, too. They lose a star for packaging though, as they come in a cheap looking plastic compact that's hard to open if you don't have long fingernails. Another goes for the applicator. Most people don't use the foam tip applicator that comes with the eyeshadow, but if you do, you'll be extremely disappointed with it. I totally recommend these, though. The product that you get is amazing, the color selection is huge, and they're only 8 dollars!

  • Neutrogena Oil-Free Cleansing Wipes Pink Grapefruit

These are amazing makeup wipes. They've got salicylic acid in them, which keeps pimples away, and they remove every last bit of your makeup with hardly any work. The only problem I have with these, is when I use them on my eyes, it makes the area around them BURN. It's manageable, but definitely uncomfortable. The non-grapefruit scented ones don't do this, though, so I think I'll stick with those.

  • Evian Mineral Water Spray

    Evian Mineral Water Spray

    I don't really get it

It's...water in a can. Nothing more. Just water. There is literally NOTHING ELSE in this product. Just get a spray bottle from the dollar store and you'll be just as well off as if you spent 11 dollars on this. I've also heard that the nitrogen that propels the water out harms your skin, so that's another big no-no. I also don't get how water sets your makeup. It really doesn't do ANYTHING except make your face wet until the water evaporates. Just...don't waste your money on canned water. It's not worth the money.

  • Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer SPF 15

I don't see how this is getting such negative reviews! I've been using it for awhile and I've had no problems whatsoever. I definitely don't have sensitive skin, and it's almost impossible to break me out, but this definitely doesn't do any damage to my skin. It's a basic moisturizer. That's it. It does claim to have some color-correcting aspects to it, but that's a lie. It does make your skin look nice and glowy though, which is always nice. If you're expecting a moisturizer that does what a foundation is supposed to do, this is not the moisturizer for you. I usually wear it underneath my makeup, and it doesn't get me any greasier than I usually am (I have combination skin). It's definitely not the most amazing moisturizer I've ever tried, but it doesn't deserve all the bad reviews.
