  • L'Oreal Paris HiP Studio Secrets Professional Shocking Shadow Pigments

I LOVE these truly "high intensity" shadows. For the price, their totally worth the mess that the loose shadow can cause (just be careful where it falls!). Shimmery and very pigmented, they're not meant for everyday wear (at least if you work in an office like I do), but they're AWESOME for creating dramatic looks when that's what you want!

  • Stila Lip Glaze Stick
    7.0

    Stila Lip Glaze Stick

    Like glazes, with less sticky!

I'm a fan of Stila's Lip Glazes, but I know not everyone likes their super shiney finish and resultant stickyness -- the Lip Glaze Sticks solve these problems by toning down the shine and sticky. The pencil-type applicator is nice for greater precision than a brush as well. On a day you want a glaze, you might find these a little too "lipsticky", but on a day you're sick of your hair getting stuck to your lips every two seconds, these are a good option. Nice colors and wonderful smells too! I agree that the colors don't always match what's on the stick well, so test if you can before buying. Also, as a product of a higher-end brand, these are a bit pricy, so if you like them snag a discount if you can!

  • Smashbox Smashbox Muse Artist Eye Pallette

Smashbox Smashbox Muse Artist Eye Pallette

Nice shades, good value, pretty packaging

Smashbox isn't my absolute favorite brand for shadows (check my other reviews to find out what is!), but this set was too nice to pass up. Although the price seems high, for 10 shadows it's actually quite a good deal. The shades are perfect for spring but will transition to all seasons, and I'm finding that they're surprisingly unique in my overall shadow "wardrobe". They're a little less pigmented than I'm used to, so I need to use a little more if I want a dramatic effect, but this can be a good thing if you want something more subtle and easier blending. The pallette's big mirror and high-quality brush are also great bonuses!

  • Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil

Love the eye pencils? You'll love these too!

I'm a devotee of UD's 24/7 eye pencils, so when they came out with these (and had a discount -- yes, they're pricy!) I had to try one. I've not been disappointed. UD continues for lip shades its mastery of that magical creamy matte texture that works so great on eyes. I like using the pencil to fill in my lips and then cover them with a gloss. Note, because of the creamyness, you'll need to sharpen often if you want a fine tip for lineing.

  • Stila Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15

My original review is below, but I'm upping my rating from 6 to 8 after continuing to use this for a while. I actually used up my first tube and got a good deal on a second one as part of a set, so I guess I DO like it enough to buy it again! The thickness issue seemed to resolve itself, I started experimenting with using a little more product than I was used to with more "liquidy" foundations/moisturizers and that helped a lot. I use this mostly after I shower after working out; it's a quick way to get moisture and a little tint/glow. I'm really conflicted about Stila's Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer. I love the spf and "illumination," although it seems a bit shiny/greasy upon initial application, it quickly sinks in and provides the nice "glow" that it claims without looking shiny. Unfortunately, I've found that the texture is way too thick for something called a moisturizer, it's not so easy to apply and I feel like I need to really rub my skin to get it on and blended. I probably won't buy this again because I personally don't like the thick texture, but I do still think it's a quality product. If you like a lighter-feeling moisturizer though, give this a try before buying.

  • Urban Decay XXX Shine Gloss
    7.0

    Urban Decay XXX Shine Gloss

Shiny! Colorful! (And yes, a little sticky)

I know people give this gloss a bad rap because of the stickyness, which it certainly has. However, I've got to say that there are some days when I feel like having super shiny lips, and when those days come along this is the product I go to. I actually got a set of six of these free during a UD promotion; I don't know that it's a product I would have bought, but it turs out I do use them quite a bit, and the variety of colors is really fun. So, to sum up: not so great for kissing, or in the wind with long hair, but if those don't apply and you feel like shiny, colorful lips (especially fun to play with over lip stains or sticks), these are great.

  • Benefit Posietint
    9.0

    Benefit Posietint

    Pricy but worth it

Despite the cult following, the original "Benetint" shade scared me away with it's dark-redness, but I took the plunge once Benefit came out with this lighter shade, and I'm not sorry! It may turn out to be one of those rare products that I actually use up and buy again! I'm very pale and I find that this adds a beautiful, really natural, very light tint to my cheeks right where I want it. It does take some practice and is expensive, so it's not a "10", but if you can afford it and learn to apply it, you'll love it!

  • Urban Decay Ammo Palette

This is a great set of a good variety of Urban's shades. Most have some glitter or shimmer, so if you're not into those look to their matte shades (which unfortunately they don't have a sampler box of yet). I use these mostly for "going out" but the lighter shades are appropriate for day/work too. Beautiful packaging as well, as always with UD. Money saving tip: join UD's email list and they'll let you know when they have big discounts; once or twice a year you can get big discounts on everything!

  • Neutrogena Healthy Skin Enhancer
    9.0

    Neutrogena Healthy Skin Enhancer

Great bargain -- as good as much more expensive brands!

Confession: I'm into some fancy/expensive brands, and to some extent I believe that I get what I pay for. However, in a quest to spend a little less on makeup I decided to give this a try after reading some great reviews a while back. I was extremely pleasantly surprised; this foundation acts like others that cost a lot more. It blends in beautifully, isn't at all greasy, and the lightest tone actually works with my pale skin. Also: SPF!

  • Olay Complete All Day Moisturizer with Broad Spectrum SPF 30 - Sensitive

I'm very fair skinned and so besides wanting to prevent wrinkles I need a daily sunscreen to prevent sunburns. I've tried a LOT of different moisturizers, from drugstore brands to the very trendy and expensive, and I keep coming back to this product. It makes my skin feel well-nourished and protected, and the price is definitely a plus! When using this I don't have to worry about whether or not my foundation has any spf. It is heavier than moisturizers without this level of sun protection, but that comes with the spf territory.
