    Talika Lash Extender

    Not good at all!

UGH! These just made an absolute mess! Even when the rep was showing me how to use these she had a hard time working with them too! There's got to be a better way gals. After about an hour of suffering with these spider legs on my lashes-- my eyes were watering, and off they went. I could take no more.

  • ModelCo Lash Wand Heated Eyelash Curler

ModelCo Lash Wand Heated Eyelash Curler

    Better than other alternatives!

With much trepidation I tried ModelCo’s Lash Wand. I’ve written about lash curlers many times and I’ve said I’m vehemently against putting heat near my eyes. But this my dear mavens is not the same thing as giving your Shu Uemura a blast from your scorching hair dryer and then going to town. This is more precise and I feel it puts your lashes less at-risk for a mascara mishap. Powered by a AAA battery, it’s easy to hold this wand at the base of the lash for about 20-30 seconds instead of crimping the bits out of your roots with a hot metal implement. This gets the thumbs up from me. I can’t believe I just said that!

  • ModelCo Skin Drink Airbrush Moisturizer

    ModelCo Skin Drink Airbrush Moisturizer

    Super easy, super convenient!

Skin Drink is one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a long time. There are plenty of spray lotions on the market. They still usually involve slathering yourself and then rubbing it in with your hands– so then what’s the purpose? How about a moisturizer with a 360 degree spray nozzle providing a fine mist for head to toe, spray and go? Green tea, ginko, papaya, and bamboo are just a few good-for-you ingredients in this alcohol and mineral oil free wonder. No rubbing required. Literally, you spray it and you are finished. No mess… promise. It smells like flowers, and faintly reminds me of rose water.

  • ModelCo Lip Lights

    ModelCo Lip Lights

    GREAT idea!

Available in 6 shades, I tried Lip Lights in Summer Nectar. First, it’s a great lip gloss. It’s shiny, not tacky, and has no icky taste at all. Are you ready for the bonus? Decked out like a top-of-the-line Caddy– this baby has LED lights (activated when gloss is open) and a mirror to ensure a perfect application while you’re out and about. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wanted to touch up and didn’t have access to a ladies room. Or maybe I didn’t want to wait in line or shove my way through the sea of gals wanting to do the same thing just to get to the mirror. Whip out your gloss and just go. Wah-lah! It’s not a cheesy application concept at all. It’s functional and all the girls will be asking you where you got it. Not to mention it will help you find your keys at the bottom of your purse at the end of the night!

  • Murad Optimal Health & Beauty Dietary Supplement

At the time I had used this, I had traveled on planes extensively for the month previously and it wreaked havoc on my poor face! I was dry and crepey and my skin tone was just blah overall. This totally got my skin back into health after just a month. I would give it a 10, but the price is just too high!

  • L'Oreal Paris Vive Pro Nutri Gloss Conditioning treatment

Right off the bat, I have to say the pink packaging would make me b-line right towards it. Pink is definitely the way to most girls’ hearts. That was absolutely brilliant on L’Oreal’s part. The shampoo has a pearlescent look to it which makes me a sucker every time. For some reason, I’ve convinced myself that when a shampoo looks more creamy and shiny versus clear, my hair is being treated better. Call me silly. And the products are pink! Here’s where I get really excited– the scent reminds me of candy, cotton candy to be exact. It’s not an overpowering scent as not to clash with your fragrance wardrobe. It’s rather soft, clean, and sweet. So right there, I’m totally game for it. Prior to using the shampoo for the first time, I had just colored my hair at home. So I was impressed at how my hair didn’t feel quite as much like a wet cotton ball as it usually does. The conditioner did a great job of hydrating and softening my freshly-colored locks but I wanted to take it a step further. I opted to also use the treatment since I had just colored my hair and haven’t done a treatment in a little over a week. I applied it and combed it through with a wide-tooth comb and left it in for a few minutes. Long enough to wipe down my shower walls and wash my face. Why didn’t I think of that before? By using the combination of these products, I felt my hair was clean, shiny, and hydrated. That’s pretty much the goal of shampoo and conditioner, right? I think often as consumers we expect a lot out of products and that’s our right as we’re spending our hard earned cashola on them. Sometimes though, I have to remind myself that it’s a product. It’s not going to change my car’s oil and give it a free car wash as a bonus. For a drugstore brand, I would totally consider this as an option. It’s fairly priced and there’s enough shampoo and conditioner in there to really last.

  • PCA Skin pHaze 9 Purifying Mask

PCA's Purifying Mask does a great job at helping remove congestion in the skin, brightens, and smoothes. My face was red from the french clay-- actually RED after applying but rinsed away clean and fresh. The small particles of pumice are smoothing and not too abrasive. I enjoyed the sensation of the spearmint on my skin and the scent of the orange oil. I will definitely use this again!

  • Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum

I have the strangest hair. I’m sure many of you are saying the same thing. Mine is limp, fine, hard to get volume, and also hard to keep straight at the same time. It doesn’t make any sense! Then it gets all curly sometimes. I can’t figure it out. Being tired of putting it in an eternal ponytail, last week I had it all chopped off into that “Posh Spice” bob. And I couldn’t be happier. I don’t know why I didn’t think of this a long time ago. With this, came a new challenge! How do I get a smooth blow-out but still get a teensy bit of volume? I scoured the products at the beauty supply knowing I could not go back to what I am familiar with because it would have gotten me nowhere. I decided to give Paul Mitchell products a try. I left there with Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum in my bag. (In addition to other stuff that shall remain nameless for now.) On Day 1, attempting to blow dry myself– I used WAY too much. I looked like I didn’t wash my hair for a week by the time I was finished. On Day 2, I used VERY small amounts of it in small sections and got probably one of the best blow-outs I’ve ever given myself. I was super happy with the product. On Day 3, I got rebellious. I put Super Skinny Serum all over my hair very lightly to control frizz. Then I scrunched some mousse in my hair and got frizz-free beachwaves that dried really fast. The things I love, the scent. It’s like candy. It makes my hair dry several minutes faster than normal, and it’s not sticky at all. Not loving: accidentally getting it on your scalp, and pumping too much out.

  • Ojon Rub Out Dry Cleanser
    9.0

    Ojon Rub Out Dry Cleanser

    One of the best!

I have dark hair and this one didn’t seem to leave as much white residue behind. It uses potato starch, Amazonian white clay, and rice starch. If you’ve never tried another Ojon product before I have to warn you that the scent can be a little overwhelming at first. It will dissipate but just don’t do this right before you run out the door, it will clash with your perfume and the guy next to you on the train will think you’re an attractive female without a sense of smell. I honestly like the scent of Ojon products, but shall I say it’s an acquired taste much like some other fine things in life?
