Product Review: Chanel Vamp

In the 90′s, Fashion House Chanel launched a nail polish shade that was originally called Rouge Noir. Created to be the color of dried blood, it was a very dark red… almost black really. Madonna wore it, Uma Thurman wore it and it created a frenzy of epic proportions.

It was like the second coming of the Beatles if the Beatles could be purchased for $26 and came in a little bottle of liquid. It was that crazy. Somehow this very dark, gothic color became a staple for every product junkie to have and even though Chanel discontinued it, it re-emerged in the mid-2000′s and hasn’t left their line since.

I ran out of Vamp not too long ago and purchased another bottle. I didn’t open it up until I got home and when I did, I noticed a slight change to the formula. Sparkles. Suddenly the dark, edgy, blackened red color of dried blood has… SPARKLES.

I love Vamp. The color is truly one of a kind and although every Nail Polish company has a copy (Wicked by Essie to name one) there is only ONE Vamp. Except now the one and only Vamp is Cullenizing itself. Sparkles. It has sparkles. The original was flat. And I loved it that way. I’m not sure I’m going to like Vamp – The Twilight version. I’m not a fan of the series, the movies, the actor’s or the writer. I didn’t get into that craze so… this is definitely odd for me. Vamp… but sparkly.
