Product Review: Victoria's Secret Angel

Not too long ago, I got my hands on a sample of Victoria’s Secret Angel Perfume and Body Cream. If you don’t know much about this line, it’s fairly new (debuted in the past year) and at the Fifi Awards – the fragrance industries Oscars – the perfume in this collection won Best Packaging (Broad Appeal).

And I have to admit, that this glass bottle with wings on the back side of it completely sent me from want to need. It’s adorable. Truly adorable. I envisioned the bottle on my perfume tray looking all sorts of amazing and angelic. First though, I had to not only love the bottle but what was inside.

I tried the body cream first and honestly, the makeup snob in me wanted to dislike it but it’s amazing! It’s super luxe feeling yet it melts into your skin leaving the faintest scent. The notes include plum, violet, pink pepper, gardenia, amber, musk and agarwood. In the cream, the first notes I picked up on were the Plum and Violet which makes for a very heady fruity floral.

Normally, I despise anything with pink pepper… I hate pepper in my food and and making it pink and adding it to my fragrances doesn’t change that. I didn’t pick up on any pepper smells in the cream, at all. As it dries down a bit, the amber and gardenia come to the forefront and it’s a completely feminine bordering on girly scent.

The actual perfume, for some reason, smells different to me. I smell more of the pink pepper and musk rather than the very pleasing fruity floral notes that I first smelled with the cream. And unlike the cream, the perfume didn’t last very long in terms of longevity. Half way through the day, it was completely evaporated from my skin.

In any case, if I were giving stars I would say 5 for packaging for the bottles. Even the cream has it’s take on the angel wing and it’s very cute. I wish the perfume matched the cream’s scent more closely because I would be completely hooked if it did.

In this case though, I think I’ll stick to the Angel I have always worn.
