Hair extensions used to scare me. If you're a celebrity, OK, cool, I get it -- you're on the red carpet and no one can tell you are sporting mountains of faux hair. But if I was behind some girl on the escalator at the mall and I spotted an obvious clip-in curly ponytail, I reserved the right to make harsh judgments about her taste and yes, even her character. Harsh? Perhaps.

That is until I recently tried hair extensions myself. And mind you, these weren't just any hair extensions, but "Dancing with the Stars," extensions, which in my mind held the highest possibility of being super tacky (I mean, c'mon Kate Gosselin was on the show).

But then, something magical happened. I took a leap of taste-faith and clipped in the "Go!Go! Girl" multi-layered piece and just like that, my super fine hair looked voluminous and full. Not to mention like three inches longer. And they looked super real. Like I was just naturally born with amazing hair. Seriously, women stopped me on the street, and cornered me in a Mexican restaurant bathroom to find out how I had such great hair. So I was like, "alright, maybe I don't hate hair extensions. Maybe, just maybe, I LOVE them."

Then, as if the universe was trying to convince me of that fact, I was invited to meet Kym Johnson at ULTA and have her show me the rest of the DWTS extension line. So I obvi went (I don't mess with signs from the universe). She showed a couple of styles and talked about how great they are and that even when she is flipping around on stage they stay in place.

Then, the stylist pulled out the "Salsaloosa," a hair wrap that looks like a messy bun. I was nervous to try this one as it was surely capable of putting me in the aforementioned "girl on the escalator"-category ...

But I obliged.

And didn't hate it!

Moral of the story: I am still somewhat wary of the clip-ins and wrap-arounds, but I wear that "Go!Go! Girl" piece like it's my job … if my job was to look amazing at all times and pose with roses …
