The inside, out of skincare
Disclaimer: I am a strong believer in the inside out cleansing effect. However, if you have a medical issue that requires special medications please check with your physician before taking any supplements.
This is a special blog about skincare, because I've been getting many questions about skincare, and I'd like to share my routine and what I've learned about the human body in its relation to skin issues. I am currently a junior in college studying investigative medicine, to become a forensic pathologist. I could go on & on & on about all of things I've discovered about the human body, but there isn't enough time. LOL However, the knowledge I have obtained in just two short years, has helped me conquer most of my skin problems. I have learned that it is not what's going on-- on the outside that matters, but what is going on-- on the inside....in other words what is the root cause of our skin issues. Most people may not know this but about 22% of people die from lack of fiber! Doesn't matter gender, age, race, etc. the lack of fiber is also linked to liver issues which shows itself (our livers) through our skin. The liver is a very special organ; I'm not going to lecture, because I'm a firm believer in research. So, take this grain of salt and read about your liver this is the first major step to not only understanding your skin, but also clearing it as well. Once you understand your liver and your skin type... you'll be able to control your skin issues without having to spend an arm and a leg on expensive beauty products that don't work. The key is to clean the debris on the inside to create a canvas for the beauty to shine through on the outside. I believe in saving money and getting effective results, my current profile picture is me in NO makeup at all. As you can see there isn't one blemish, (not bragging, just showing proof I'm not making this up).....now with that being said there are some products in my current roster that I must spend a little extra on, simply because they get the job done and never fails me. I replaced a few products this month. The two products that I upgraded were my acne scrub and my pigmentation corrector. I upgraded, and I like the results. So there are some products you have to spend a little extra on to get the results you want to obtain, but for the most part my routine is affordable.
The vitamin/supplements aspect of any skincare regimen is tricky. It really depends on whether you have cleansed or not, and the vitamins you need to replenish after cleansing. This can be found out after you have better understanding of your body and how it works. Again, I say start with the liver, because it is our internal garbage disposal. There are several organic liver and blood cleansing recipes that only require fruits and veggies, search around for which one is best for your body type. I do an internal liver, kidney, and blood cleanse about once every 4 months in the winter and every 6 months in the summer. I use all natural products, the err... taste is horrible (sometimes), but the results are noticeable almost instantly. I don't feel as sluggish and my skin looks like a pure Hersey’s bar. (Or whatever type of candy your color is.....
). I must say this before I get off the soapbox, green tea is a must for every one, and it repairs damaged cells every time you have a cup. Ditch the coffee pick up some green tea.
The products I use for flawless skin:
$1 store cream makeup remover
Aldis' Lacura Hydra Complete Cream w/spf 15 for day (Winter)
Neutrogena Daily Sunscreen Moisturizer w/spf 30 for day (Summer)
DDF Acne Scrub-every other day (all over)
Swanson's Premium Retinol Cream-use nightly over Ole
Ole Henriksen Enlighten Me -use nightly (20% sales at skinstore.com)
Queen Helene's Green Julep mask -twice a week in summer, once a week in winter
Steam facials almost daily, to keep my pores open, and especially at night before applying retinol
As time goes on you can always streamline your skincare needs to what works for you. Hope this helps, I'm NO expert but, I've been to multiple dermatologists, have spent hundreds of dollars on skincare products, and been in the "no results" zone over the years. I do understand the frustration of trying to obtain great skin and it becoming a seemingly impossible feat. We are all beautiful anyway; we just like to enhance our beauty.
XO,
Darkcocoa

Great advice! Do you use a moisturizer besides the Neutrogena one? I just discovered my new favorite. It is Clean and Clear FINISHES Pore Perfecting Moisturizer with Light Diffusing Minerals
