Lip Plumpers: Would You Use a Vacuum on Your Lips?
- Posted by Sarah on February 27, 2009 at 02:50PM

My quest for Angelina Jolie lips has taken a disturbing turn (although not as scary as these collagen-filled celebrities, yikes!). Check out this Luscious Lips thingy -- it uses vacuum action to plump. Painful? Maybe. But I totally ordered one.
The 18 Best Mineral Makeup Products
- Posted by Sarah on February 26, 2009 at 04:17PM

This quiz told me mineral makeup would work for me, but it's no secret I didn't have the best experience. (Maybe because I used these awful mineral makeup products -- avoid!) TotalBeauty.com readers on the other hand? They freakin' love the stuff. Check out their picks for the top 18 mineral makeup products. After reading that, I'm giving 'em another shot.
My Favorite Updos Seen on the Red Carpet at the Oscars
- Posted by Kristen on February 22, 2009 at 06:27PM
I too love the soft wave trend that Sarah just mentioned, but I can't help but comment on the updos at the Oscars. These celebrity ladies are getting it right when it comes to Academy Awards updos. The looks are youthful and modern instead of stiff or prom-esque. Agree?
Want to create a look like this for your one of your special events? Check out these how-tos.
Lisa Rinna -- OMG!
- Posted by Sarah on February 23, 2009 at 11:41AM

That was our reaction when we saw Lisa Rinna on the red carpet at the Oscars. So, so many things wrong with this look, it's hard to know where to begin, but I'll try:
Oscar Red Carpet Trend: Soft Waves
- Posted by Sarah on February 23, 2009 at 04:21PM
A trend I'm loving on the Oscars red carpet: soft, loose waves. A ton of stars were wearing them and I thought it was a breath of fresh air for the Academy Awards. We expect stars to be sleek and done up on Oscar night so I enjoyed seeing some of them let loose (literally). Here were a few of my favorites:

5 Fun New Beauty Tricks I Learned this Week
- Posted by Kristen on February 23, 2009 at 04:21PM

Being a beauty journalist, I'm like, been there/done that with every trick in the book. But somehow this week, I learned not one but FIVE new things...
1. Lipliner isn't evil. (Especially these best ones.) I always kept away, because hey, "Drag queens give it a bad rap," agrees makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury. But done right, it's the best way to make my lips more symmetrical... which we ALL need if we're wearing red.
The '80s Make a Comeback at New York Fashion Week
- Posted by Kristen on February 20, 2009 at 08:25AM

I heart Marc Jacobs for bringing back the '80s at his Fall fashion show this week. What's even better? He let the hairstylists and makeup artists create a different look on each of the models -- all 60 plus of them. Unheard of! So bust out your Aqua Net hairspray and Dep hair gel ladies, it's time to rock out to Duran Duran. Okay, okay -- we know you won't recreate these looks anytime soon, but it's fun to dream.
Love it or Hate it: Mischa Barton's Look

I can't stop staring at this. And it's not just the hat. Something's not quite right about her smoky eye makeup ... (Learn how to do it right here.) What did she do wrong?
Don't Waste Your Money on These 14 Skin Products
- Posted by Sarah on February 24, 2009 at 04:07PM

Ugh! I just wasted a month on this ho-hum anti-aging product. I forked over the cash, applied religiously for weeks -- and what did I get? Nothing, nada, zip. Zero improvement on my lines. The only upside? I can share my story, along with all these other real women's tales, with you. Learn from our blown cash and wasted time, and use one of these top-rated wrinkle serums instead.
Skin Makeovers: See Un-retouched Before's and After's
- Posted by Sarah on February 20, 2009 at 04:01PM

Call me crazy, but I'm not about to fork over thousands of dollars on a skin treatment unless I know that it really works. That's why TotalBeauty.com gathered a few guinea pigs (er -- women with various skin issues like these) and had them test out different procedures. Check out the before and after shots -- with the same lighting, no makeup and no retouches. This is the real deal …
