  • Clinique Deep Comfort Hand and Cuticle Cream

Never thought I'd be on here raving about a simple hand cream. Yet, here I am. I have several hand creams, from L'Occitane to Crabtree & Evelyn to Working Hands Cream. I received a small sample bottle of this Clinique stuff as part of a Bonus. While it has no fancy smell (all Clinique products being fragrance-free) it is simply the best I've ever used. It's not greasy or oily and absorbs into hands quickly, but doesn't go away fast, even after rinsing hands in water. It's one of the few lotions I can put on at work, then use my keyboard right afterward without any greasy fingerprints. That's why I bothered to get on here and actually write a review. Once my sample is up, I will be buying the full-sized bottle.

  • Urban Decay Perversion Mascara

I've been excited to try this, but had to hold off because my work had screwed up my paycheck. So, when that check finally came in, I went directly toward Sephora to purchase this. I got the package deal with the Perversion mascara and the Subversion primer. I'm admittedly a mascara floozy, like many gals on this site, with several tubes of mascara in use at a time. Currently, I've got a bevy of Clinique, Lancome, and other department or drug store brands in rotation. I even have the Urban Decay Curling mascara. [That's also a good one for a more toned down, natural look, but I digress.] This mascara certainly is different than the others, in a good way. It goes on extremely smoothly, with little clumping or resistance. It's not super dry like some, yet not wet or goopy, either. It amplifies volume without being spidery. It is not stiff and still allows lashes to bend. And, best yet, it doesn't flake. See, I tend to smile with my eyes, so many mascaras turn me into a raccoon or, worse, flake all over my face. One of the worst "flakers" in my bag, sadly, is Lancome Hypnose Drama. Conversely, one of my other favorite mascaras is Lancome Definicils, for those days when I just want a more mainline, simple mascara that doesn't flake. But, this Perversion stuff is definitely my new go-to for amping up the drama and taking my lashes to that next level. The only reason I didn't give it a 10 is because the brush is on the large side, and makes it difficult to get to those smaller, corner lashes. Other than that, no complaints.

  • CoverGirl LipPerfection Lipcolor

My sister is a lipstick junkie, and often wants me to sample her new lipsticks. She got one recently (from Lime Crime, $16) that was a gorgeous coral-beige shade. We both agreed it looked fantastic. I thought I might order some, but as I as going through my coupons, I noticed I had a CoverGirl lipstick coupon, $2 off. The store I went to had it on sale for $4.99, and so after the coupon, I only paid $2.99! I picked the Decadent shade, which looked most like the one I had tried of my sister's. Turned out, although it wasn't as thick and matte as the Lime Crime, the color is amazing, and this lipstick is creamy and moisturizing. I actually like the smell, although a bit heady. But, when I was going to eat dinner, it made my food taste weird, so I had to wipe it off before eating. That's why I knocked off one star.

  • Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm

I'm a Clinique Chubby Stick junkie, and this is honestly just as good and less than half the price. But unlike the Clinique version, this is matte. I love the minty taste and it lasts quite a long time. The color I have is "Audacious," a darker coral shade. I pair it with a MAC coral lipliner, since the rather blunt tip makes it hard to draw exactly between the lines. My only reason for not giving it 10 stars is that it could be a tad more moisturizing. But, it is a matte balm, after all. I have a huge plethora of lip products, and this is one I've been reaching for quite often lately.

  • Elizabeth and James Nirvana White

This smelled great when I tested it at Sephora, but then again, I'd smelled like 20 perfumes at that point. It's floral, with peony notes. I've been using it for about a week now. Seems like, though, momentarily anyhow, it sometimes ends up smelling artificial on me. Try before you buy, because it smells fresh and lovely, but it's not for everyone's chemistry.

  • Proactiv+ Three-Step System

    Proactiv+ Three-Step System

    Expensive, but..

I'm a cheapskate when it comes to some things, so it pains me that I pay so much for this product, but if you suffer from adult acne, it's truly worth it. I actually rarely suffered from acne as a teen, ironically, but in my twenties have suffered from hormonal cystic acne. Coupled with my OCD tendencies to want to pop, pick, etc., I needed help! I started with the regular Proactiv system, and did see results, but the fact that it was drying my skin too much, as well as the cost, caused me to cancel my membership. I tried switching to more natural/organic cleansers, but soon my acne was back. So, once Proactiv+ ads popped up on TV, I said, "I'll try this!" I haven't been disappointed. My only dislike is that right now, I have to skip some days with the system, because it still is over-drying my skin slightly. Not nearly as drying as the regular Proactiv, though, because of the extra moisturizers. After I use the system, I let it dry on my face, then put my day or night moisturizer or sunscreen/BB/CC cream on over the top. It seems to play well with all my creams (no pilling, separating, etc.)

  • Clinique Super City Block Oil-Free Daily Face Protector Broad Spectrum SPF 40

I bought a bottle of this, then sort of stashed it and forgot about it, because the BB Cream craze came along and I was swept up in it. And, don't get me wrong, I still like BB and CC creams, too. But, I re-discovered my tube of this stuff, and although it is a bit separated (seems to be a bit that way, anyway, as I've recalled from past bottles, which is why I knocked off a star.) But, it settles into my skin very nicely, and gives me a natural look that means I don't have to load on foundation on those hotter days. Or, I can put foundation over it as if it's a primer. My only other gripes, and why I knocked off another star, are the smell (smells oily) and the fact it doesn't play well with some of my other moisturizing creams. This stuff is moisturizing in and of itself, but lately my skin has been so dry that I needed more moisure. So I put Estee Lauder Advanced Time Zone on first, then followed with this, and it pilled up! Estee Lauder owns Clinique, so I protest. JK. ;)

  • Milani Illuminating Face Powder

I've been using this for months in the shade 03 Beauty's Touch, and it's actually quite expensive-feeling without being such. It's long-lasting, in the sense that I've just now recently started seeing the bottom of the pan (whereas with some of my Nars, I see the bottom quicker). Also, it's light and very buildable, so I can use just a little for a light flush, or build more on as a blush. The only reason I knocked off one star is because this product does use "Lake dyes" and I wish I could find a product that is as good as this one without potentially harmful ingredients. Milani is a good brand overall. At first, didn't think that would be the case, because honestly their packaging looks cheap and dated to me, but after my aunt gave me some of their nail polishes, I tried more products and have been pleased with this one most particularly.

  • L'Oreal Paris Voluminous Butterfly Mascara

I bought this mascara today, based on the positive reviews I've read here, and I have to say, so far, so good! I'd at first bought the new Covergirl Bombshell mascara, but was disappointed with the product because it was difficult to apply, didn't pump up my lashes like I'd hoped, and had a greasy consistency. So, I exchanged it for this stuff. I prefer thicker, more matte formulas, and the Butterfly mascara is that. The brush seemed a bit gimmicky at first, but I soon got the hang of it. You can just put on one or two coats for a more natural look, or put on three or four for a more dramatic look. Because of the comb-like bristles, there are no clumps, and I didn't get the product smeared all over me like I had with the CoverGirl Bombshell stuff. No flakes, either. I just wanted to mention, my old standby is Clinique High Impact mascara, which is a great, no-nonsense mascara, but since this L'Oreal is half the price, I may have a new favorite!

  • CoverGirl Bombshell Volume Mascara

I bought this at Target yesterday because the word "volume" and the gigantic tube hinted that this mascara would plump up my lashes. I don't really need length, as my lashes are naturally long, but I am always seeking ways to make them look fuller and not spidery. Then I got home and started reading reviews both from this site and others, which psyched me out a bit, because people were complaining how hard it was to get off. However, I took a shower last night and also today after the gym, and the mascara came off both times just fine in the shower with some gentle rubbing. Wasn't any harder to get off than the other mascaras in my bag from brands like Clinique, Maybelline, and Urban Decay. Now, onto the performance. Application is a bit tough with the fat tube and short wands. Akin to using a fat Crayola marker to draw a realistic portrait. The mascara was a bit on the runnier side, especially Side 2, so I had to wipe some off from below my eye. I typically prefer a more pasty mascara. Nothing bad about it, really, but it didn't pump up my lashes like I would have hoped. After this, I went to work for a bit, then the gym, and it stayed put all throughout my workout without any raccoon eyes. It's not bad, it's just not spectacular. I took it back to Target and exchanged it for L'Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara, so I'll be trying that here shortly.
