    Hard Candy Ginormous Mascara

    Ginormous Mascara

If you're looking for a not-too-dramatic day mascara this would be a good pick. I was wary when I saw the size of the brush; it's really quite large & since my lashes are thin this usually translates to smudge-y application. Surprisingly, I had no smudges at all from the application & it actually worked quite well at coating my lower & corner lashes. The formula isn't especially pigmented (I have definitely seen darker) & is comfortable to wear. It is light-weight, holds a curl well, & doesn't give lashes a dried out feel. It lasts several hours but it gets very flakey around the 7-9th hour of wear. That's not a huge problem for me because i normally don't need a mascara that lasts much longer than that but if you do, you might want to pass this one up. It gives good definition & the lengthening power is ordinary, but it leaves much to be desired when trying to create volume. The good news is that you can build volume & layer on the coats without worrying about clumps but I just am not satisfied with the volume to repurchase this.

  • Hard Candy 1,000 Lashes Mascara & Primer

I have this in the primer, turquoise, & a violet shade. First off, the primer: this works really great. Unlike some other primers, it's very easy to cover all the white with just one coat of mascara. I don't really have any issues with mascara flaking or running so I can't say much on how it works in that regard, but it makes my lashes look great. On it's own, it adds TONS of length. It doesn't look like it adds a lot of volume, but once I put my actual mascara on, it made my lashes look super fake (in a good way). I already have long lashes which almost reach my brows and with this, they actually touch my brows. It actually adds tons of volume when used with a volumizing mascara (I use L'Oreal's Voluminous or Million Lashes) too which I was hoping for. I can get away with just one coat of mascara when I use this primer. It also seems to add curl so I didn't need my curler when I use this. For the colorful shades: I usually have trouble finding color mascara that actually colors my lashes since they are black. The violet isn't very noticeable but the turquoise turns out quite bold. The definitely don't make lashes look as great as the primer mixed with a mascara do, but it adds fun color. I usually just add it to the tips of my lashes after my actual mascara dries. With all of these, you kind of have to work with it to get the fibers onto your lashes but it's well worth the practice. Mostly you need to really get the brush into your lashes and apply quickly in a bit of a zig-zag motion while rolling the brush. I didn't have any problems with the fibers getting on my face or in my eyes though.

  • Garnier HerbaShine Color Creme

If you must use a box dye, go with this one. It works well & the price is reasonable however, it isn't that long lasting. It does leave hair feeling a lot better than any other box dye out there & the colors turn out very well; especially reds & blacks. I still stick to my philosophy on hair dying though: If you want something dramatic, find a good colorist! I can't tell you how many people try to do something dramatic with drugstore dye & it turns out all wrong. As a hair colorist, believe me when I tell you that it takes a lot of time and effort (and $$$) to fix botched home-dye jobs & sometimes, even the best colorist can't make it 100% right after a bad home job. If you're still feeling brave, at least opt to go to an actual beauty supply store & purchase dye there. It's usually cheaper ( if it is more expensive, it's usually just a few bucks more) but it's the same stuff products used at a salon so the finished product will look & last much better. Also, people working there are usually happy to give you free advice on what you need & what to use for your hair type to get a certain look.

  • Garnier Fructis Style Fiber Gum Putty Pliable Molding

I worked in a salon for awhile & I've used way more expensive brands & to be perfectly honest? This works just as well as most of those salon brands. It has great hold & lasts all day. If you use the right amount, you aren't going to be left with any sticky texture or residue. The trick is knowing how to work with this. You only want to add a little at a time since this is quite thick. When you use less, it dries quickly & cleanly & you can add more a little at a time until you get the desired effect; this includes those with thick, heavy hair. You'll get much better hold & body if you add a little at a time & let things dry between applications. Another added bonus is that once you're done, you won't have stiff, crunchy feeling hair. On damp hair, you can use more product at a time throughout your hair & let it air dry to a nice textured look. Play around with it.

  • Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Fortifying Clear Shampoo

It was an okay product. It does leave hair feeling clean & smells great. It added some shine & damage protection but not as much as some other products out there. It did not help keep frizz away but that might just be me; I find that unless it's sulfate free, my hair isn't going to behave no matter how much I pay for a shampoo. I know this works great on some people though; my best friend uses it & it leaves her hair fabulous. I definitely think it needs to be tried.

  • Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Fortifying Conditioner

I really like that conditioner because it works pretty well & smells great. I have very thick, long hair so I like my conditioners to be a little heavier in consistency than this is. I think it should work very well for straight, thick hair. It's a bit thick for thin hair & would probably cause hair to become weighed down. For thick, long, textured or damaged hair it probably isn't thick enough to do a whole lot. I used to use this a lot & it left my hair feeling very soft, but didn't do much to stave off frizz. It did help with damage control but not as well as other hair conditioners I have used. I switched to a sulfate-free line of hair care which works much better for me. The price can't be beat though so I'd try this or the Aussie hair-care line for super cheap & effective hair products.

Infusium Repair and Renew Leave-In Treatment

    Perfect For Thinner/Shorter Hair

I've tried using this but it doesn't really do anything on my hair. I have long, thick, wavy hair & this doesn't help with tangles at all unless I use a lot of product. Unfortunately that causes my hair to feel sticky so it seems very pointless to use it on just washed hair. It does seem to help a bit with preventing breakage but not as well as other products I have tried & it doesn't help keep away frizz. I don't really notice any shine either. It does seem to work better on shorter or thinner hair. My mother has fine, shoulder length hair & loves the Infusium line since she can use a small amount for effective detangling & it doesn't weight down her hair. It does seem to remove tangles on her but I still don't notice any shine from it on her. I am also not a big fan of the scent which is a problem because the scent of it doesn't seem to go away until you wash your hair again.

  • Softlips Lip Protectant/Sunscreen SPF 20

This used to be my favorite lip balm. It worked well at moisturizing my lips although i will say that my lips don't tend to chap or dry out very much so I can't say how it would work on severely dry lips. The formula is very light which I suspect wouldn't make it the best for lips that need heavy duty moisturizing. It's good for maintaining soft lips though. It doesn't have the staying power of some other balms out there; it seems to be absorbed quickly which is something that I like since I don't like to actually feel anything on my lips. The only reason I switched balms was because I love mentholated sensation from Burt's Bees Wax. The case is very slim & compact so it doesn't take up very much room. They have lots of flavors & I've liked every one I've tried. It's inexpensive which is a big plus.

  • Urban Decay Lip Envy

    Urban Decay Lip Envy

    Strong Smell

This has a ridiculously strong smell to it-- fake vanilla-y. The colors are a bit too bright; I have an olive tone so I can only imagine how bright it would look on anyone with a fair complexion, especially the pink shade. It also doesn't last very long; it starts fading very quickly around the center of the lips. Considering how many much more affordable lip stains are on the market, I will not be repurchasing this. The bottle is cute though.

  • NYC New York Color Cosmetics Smooch Proof 16HR Lip Stain

This is probably the best lip stain I have tried to date. I have never had a problem with lip stains drying out my lips & this was no exception. This is highly pigmented & the color payoff is amazing so you can have a sheer look or a more dramatic one. The amazing thing about this was that it actually lasted more than 16 hours on me ( I know I'd think I was lying too). I put it on around 10 am & didn't need to reapply. I ate, talked, drank, showered, brushed my teeth & by the end of the day it was still there. I even went to bed with it on since I couldn't get it off & it was still there the next morning (although it did finally fade to a just-ate-a-Popsicle look). The only things I could think would bother someone is that the color selection seems to be rather small & the stain it self has a strong scent. That usually bothers me but it goes away after a few seconds once it's fully dry.
