  • Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm SPF 25

I got the whole set of Jack Black products for my husband, and ended up "borrowing" about half of them. I love this lip balm. It lasts a lot longer than the products made for women, and it also doesn't have that sicky sweet taste many of those same products have. I also don't have to apply this as often either, as it actually stays on my lips even after eating. Well worth it!!

    Lush Trichomania

    Love love love

My hair has been colored for the last 20 odd years, and I'm well aware that color-treated hair requires a bit extra care and coddling to be as healthy as possible. Recently I had hair bleached and then dyed "oil slick" colors, and this was the first item ever bleaching my hair. I had just purchased a chunk of this Lush shampoo, so it's trial run was on just bleached and dyed hair. All I can say is holy frickin' wow. No tangles after shampooing. No color washout even though the various colors in my hair were semi-permanent. I decided on a whim to skip conditioner so I could see how dry my hair would be after the bleaching and coloring process. I was utterly shocked at how soft and manageable my hair was when it dried! With my regular shampoos (everything from Aveda to Garnier to Aussie to Pantene to Kiehl's and way too many others) I have NEVER been able to skip conditioner before. Even with those cleansing conditioners my hair would be too dry and I would need some sort of leave-in conditioner or end up with crackly, frizzy hair and tons of tangles. I thought it might just be the Olaplex she used during the coloring process, so I went conditioner free again for a whole week a couple weeks later. Nope - still zero tangles or frizz. Tried it again after a cold snap when my hair usually gets enough static to power NYC, and it was still amazingly soft and tangle/frizz free with just the Lush Trichnomania shampoo. I've been using this Lush shampoo bar alternately with their Copperhead bar, and my stylist was blown away by how healthy my hair was and that even four months later my semi-permanent colors were still vibrant and true. She asked me where I had a touch-up or re-coloring done, and I told her that no one had touched my hair since she did everything at the end of September 2016. The only way she could tell I wasn't fibbing to her was by the three inches of root growth showing in my hair. Unless something more amazing comes along, I'm hooked on this stuff. No color stripping or fading, saves me money on conditioner, the bars/chunks last for about 60 hair washes, they smell great, and my hair is left without any buildup from conditioner or leave-in conditioners. I couldn't be happier with my. hair right now. TL:DR - Lush shampoo bars are the shiznit even for hair that's been bleached and colored and usually requires a ton of TLC.

  • CoverGirl Jewels TruNaked Eyeshadow Palette

Lovely palette for dark eyes. The blue and purple make striking liners when mixed with Duraline, elf Lock and Seal, or Illamasqua Sealing Gel. The black is on the sparkly side, and also makes for a nice change up from typical flat black liner or to add something a little extra to a smokey eye. Fallout when applying isn't bad at all. To really make the color pop, use a white primer and wet application. A nude or no color primer will keep the shadow in place but the colors will be more daytime/work appropriate versus white primer. Without primer these aren't the longest lasting shadows, but with you can get through the day with minimal touch ups. Creasing wasn't a real issue when used with primer and a setting spray, but with the shadow applied directly to my lids (which tend to get oily), it was a mess by lunchtime. This is a great way to experiment with bolder colors without breaking the bank

  • Spongeables Shower Gel In a Sponge with Buffer, Lavender Nectar

Found these at the local Ulta, and thought I'd try them out to see how they compare to Spongelle's product. These are about a quarter of the cost of a Spongelle, but the sponge is a bit rougher and the cleanser is more heavily scented. Even though the scent is super strong in the shower, it doesn't really last on your skin. This is good as it won't clash with any perfume that you wear, though with the Spongelle scents they last quite awhile on your skin and let you skip perfume for a day because they smell so good. The scent of this particular Spongeable was one of better ones I've tried of their line. It's not cloying or chemically like some can be. This doesn't leave your skin moisturized at all (this one doesn't have lotion), but it does do a great job at getting you clean and exfoliating away dead skin. If it's been some time since you gave yourself a good, thorough scrub down, bust one of these out and get down to business. Got KP on your arms or legs? This will get rid of any keratin buildup you have in your hair follicles and leave your skin in prime condition for whatever OTC or prescription lotion you use to treat the KP. This particular sponge is less scrubby than their pedi versions but still works well on feet, especially if you are super ticklish.

  • Botanica by Spongelle Body Wash Infused Buffer

Botanica by Spongelle Body Wash Infused Buffer

Lasts a long time and smells a-mazing

I got several of these for stocking stuffers in 2016, and now that the recipients need replacements, I'm getting bombarded with them asking where I got them. These cost more than the Spongeables version, but wow, talk about a difference in quality. These leave your skin much, much more moisturized. I and a couple of the others that got these suffer from horrible dry skin in the winter. If you like the new in-shower moisturizers, then you will like this. Even though it cleans and exfoliates, it leaves your skin feeling surprisingly soft after you dry off. If you have super dry skin, you still might need to apply lotion later on, but at least for a few hours after you shower your skin will be smooth and soft. This also works great for shaving. The scent of these is milder and more perfume-like and lingers on your skin compared to the stronger scent of the Spongeables. You can skip perfume on the days you use this. Several of the recipients told me that they got multiple compliments on their new "perfume" when they started using their gift. The best part about these is that they last about a month with every day use. Even after that long there is still some product left in the sponge, though as you use it the softening aspect fades and you need to go back to using lotion after bathing. This happened around the start of the third week for me. I suppose you could keep the sponge and keep using it with other soap as long as you disinfect it every month like they tell you to with loofahs and bath poofs. If you ever need something to cut down your shower/lotion time so you can hit the snooze bar, this is it. These also make well received gifts. They are pricier than the Spongeables, but you really do get a much better quality item.

  • Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+

This is a good, all purpose facial moisturizer. Nothing fancy like wrinkle prevention, skin lightening, or any antiaging properties beyond keeping your skin hydrated. It does a pretty good job of that, and I have found that it actually works pretty well on surgical scars. I used this instead of Mederma and was pretty shocked at how evenly and quickly my scar faded.

  • Benefit

This little tube really does provide a surprising hint of glow - but only if you don't wear any sort of powder over it. If you typically use a setting/finish powder that will counteract any benefit of this product. It helps to control shine, so you really don't need a setting powder. Try it alone and be ready for some compliments.

  • Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II

I did use the entire bottle faithfully, but honestly didn't see any difference. I did notice the odor, though. It's not horrible, but not exactly pleasant either. It goes on fairly well and dries quickly. I just didn't see any improvement in skin tone, clarity or evening out my combination skin. I had more success with other products.

  • Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II

As soon as the rep put this on my skin, it started to burn. I couldn't get it off fast enough. I don't have skin that is overly sensitive either. She had also let me try the eye cream, and that made my eyes burn and water as well. I don't think this is the line for me - I will stick to Clinique, their sister line.

  • REvlon Illuminance Creme Shadow

I just got this in Copper Canyon and I really like how sheer and blendable the colors are. I can make them more intense by adding on more after each application dries to get as much or as little color as I want, which is perfect for those lazy weekend trips to Starbucks for coffee. I really wish there was an applicator. Easy to remove, makes a great base for other colors, and has good no-crease staying power if you let it dry inbetween applications. Biggest problem? NO applicator.
