I was looking forward to using the Dove Purely Pampering Body Wash and Bar because I like new products and new scents and because the antiperspirant and deodorant have worked very well for me so I assumed the bar and wash would do everything thing Dove claims. As far as the scent goes, it smells nice and warm and slightly sweet. The scent remains on the hands a lot longer than it does on other body parts. I am not sure why, but that was my experience. Also, my hands did not smell like onions when I washed my hands immediately after cutting white onions. As far as it doing what Dove says that it will do, (I just noticed that Dove does not really make any "special" claims) I found it not to be true. I did not have skin break outs with the bar or wash -- which is the big test -- meaning no rash, no itchiness, and no HUGE THICK patches of dryness. I still needed to use oil on my skin (legs, arms, and derriere) because I was ashy. I did not notice my skin being any softer than it was prior to using Dove. Dove says, "melts deeply into dry, dull skin leaving it soft and smooth," yet this was not my experience. It is a nice body cleanser (bar & wash) not worth the $6.00. I think Dove was just looking for a way to make more money by new scents to an already created product and calling it something else.

This stuff works well but not for which it is designed. I have never used it on my face and I do not get blackheads on my face. I use this for bikini line razor bumps. Yup, you read it right. The bikini line! I use this after shaving and waxing so I do not get ingrown hairs. Before using this product, I would get ingrown hairs and razor bumps that would become scabs that eventually became flush with my skin but they were dark coloured like freckles. This product did control what was already there and helped it heal faster AND prevented new ones from developing. Stars: 7 for my purpose. 0 for Clean & Clear's purpose

This stuff is horrible! It smells like alcohol and it burns my skin. My face is tight, it hurts and the damaged parts of my face look as if I have been burned by the sun after I used Retin-A. I thought this was the white creamy stuff that could be used with or without water (because this is what it used to be) but to my surprise, it is not. I am thoroughly disappointed in this. I am now using this product as a cleanser for after shaving, that way it is not wasted and since it is supposed to be gentle enough for my face, it should be gentle enough for freshly shaved areas. So far, no problems. Just so you all know, yes, I have sensitive skin but I am a Black-Latina, I have dark skin, naturally black coloured hair. I am supposed to be "thicker-skinned" compared to people with fairer complexions but blue veins are visible on my face and legs just like those with fairer complexions. Dark skin being thicker and less sensitive to the sun and not prone to skin cancer is not a hard rule (just as not all blondes burn in the sun). So, please do not believe it when people say Blacks do not sunburn because we do. We even have sensitive skin and can be allergic to the sun.
