I have a heck of a time finding any company that gets a light enough yellow that it doesn't make my dark circles darker. This one has it. I also have a heck of a time finding pale rose beige light enough to match me, let alone lighter for highlights, but this one has both, and a darker one for shadowing. Too bad that one had a tar like layer over it, others had oily film, and the brand new pallet needed the surface taken off ever shade before I could start. It's prone to shifting, piling, creasing and caking in really unpleasant ways on bare skin. Blending takes pro skill and a fair bit of time, and what should be a base actually could benefit from a base. If you have to use it, try leading with a layer of mattifying lotion for greasy shades, extra moisturizer for dry ones, but expect only slightly less swearing.

Most makeup I get that doesn't quite work as expected can be sweet talked into doing SOMETHING attractive. Not this one. Bare or with a base, applicator or no, it was streaky, lumpy, and weak, all at the same time. Will crease in under five minuets, and really badly, even with thin application. Between the low pigment, bad texture, and poor wear, this actually made it to the trash right after the test run. It won't even work as a base, and feels like smearing your lids with Vaseline.

It's well pigmented and plenty soft enough to line inner rims, smudge out, or even paint on with an angled liner brush. It also holds up for me better than most cream shadows, so a few pencils can give me full eye makeup on the go, or pastels can rock as a base with pop.

Not only do I love that a little goes a long way, making the price worth every penny, but also that they blend smoothly and I have one that's years old and still show no sign of deterioration. Frost applied wet can make a really neat chrome effect, and any can be applied like liner with a good brush, and I often use them on my inner rims for more pop. This line is for the little girl who never wanted to leave the art room. These will also take a massive beating even applied to bare skin, handling heat, sweat, mist, and as a sheer, even rubs. they easily out preform smashbox photo op, clinique, and lancome in torture testing. the only down sides are that you need to get your fingers in them to know exactly how the color dilutes, and that you need a bit of skill to control your color concentration, so makeup newbies may want to hold off.

Black Ruby, as the color name implies, is dark. Though the common association with 'raisin' colors tends to be much brighter and redder than an actual raisin, this one is rather more like the violet black you see in real raisins and eggplants. If it were any paler, lighter, or brighter, it would only hold up to the pastels and vanish in most liners. That said, it's colored and lightly frosted(only lightly so it holds it's own against shadow and liner). To get the most out of any color, scrape off excess product, apply to the back of lashes first, comb well with a clean lash comb, wipe comb, then layer the front of the lashes, combing and wiping often. The waterproof works for me just fine with any of my red-based shadows and liners and amps the greens just fine. It also stands alone just fine if you don't need length and volume, and I don't recall that being a promise on the package. My only objection is the color sticker is misleading, though many companies are at fault for the same thing.
