olay's newest line, olay professional pro-x has done the studies and proved that it's not only as effective in reducing and preventing wrinkles as the most expensive creams on the market, it rivals the prescription stuff. in 28 days, the wrinkles of participants in a clinical trial were measurably smaller. the line is unarguably more expensive than a typical drugstore line - with most products at the $41 dollar mark, but when you compare that to a cream that is well over $100 -- the choice is clear. if you want to dip a toe before jumping in the pool, i recommend the $61.50 starter kit to see if this line is a match for you. i've been playing around with the line myself, and well it doesn't have the luxorious smell of my favorite exorbitantly priced creams, it is a formible moisturizer, and i'm hoping, wrinkle preventer.

it gave me great radiance, and you really can't beat the quickness...though you can beat the price, $52.

what i love best about a tube mascara is that it doesn't flake, because it actually makes a little tube around each lash. this mascara is also what i like to call a "black and white" mascara, because it has a wand on each end - one with a white lash primer and the other with the black mascara. in general, i am not a fan of "black and white" mascaras, because i always discover midway through the day that some of my lashes managed to stay white -- not cute. so, with the known information being that tubular = good, and "black and white" = bad, how did it stack up? well, at breakfast my dad said, "are you, like wearing extra eyelashes or something?" ?! i love hearing that -- congrats, l'oreal's double extend beauty tubes technology in black, you've won a spot in my heart. and at drugstore prices, i think recessionistas will be happy to see you.

i normally avoid coloring my own hair. i figure that is the sort of thing best left to the professionals - it's like washing a dry-clean only shirt at home. i just don't mess with some things. but beauties, money is tight. last time i used clairol's perfect 10 it was in the comfort of the ted gibson salon and under the watchful eye of celebrity colorist, jason backe. and i was incredibly happy with results (see that here). but, tonite there was no salon, no celebrity stylist, just me and two boxes - light auburn and dark auburn. and i was scared. i mixed them together, put in on my roots, waited 5 minutes, but it on the rest of my hair and my eyebrows (yes, i know i'm not supposed to do that), waited another 5 minutes, and hopped in the shower. and after that run-on sentence, i can say that i am once again very pleased! it's fast (you actually are not even supposed to leave it in a moment over 10 minutes), it's auburn, and it's affordable.

Crabtree & Evelyn Aromatherapy Distillations Relaxing - Floral Body Smoother
multi-sized particle fun!
most body exfoliants have either a sugar or a salt base. this one has both salt and sugar, plus lavender buds - meaning you get three different size particles to exfoliate you - this is uber-effective. my skin is unbelievably soft after using it. it runs $34.50, but its a pretty big jar, so it's still a good deal.

i used to think all the hype about st. ive's apricot scrub was just that. but then i had a major breakout while trapped my parent's house in florida and this was all that was on-hand. somehow this inexpensive scrub saved my face!

nars is know for it's lip color, and with good reason. their colors are unique, vibrant and fairly long-wearing. a bit pricey? perhaps, but a nice lady-like treat, for sure.

powder blush can be tricky - i usually prefer creme or gel formula for this reason. however, MAC powder blush packs long-lasting color and stays very true to expected color. i have several different shades in a wide variety of color and i love them all!

There was nothing wrong with this cream - I don't any specific complaints. It absorbed well and smelled nice. It just didn't really improve my skin in a noticeable way and given it's price tag - it would need to for me to continue using it.
