    Fusion Beauty LipFusion XL

    Kinda works,sorta pricey

I use this product every night. I like that my lips are still moisturized in the morning, and I like the way it feels when I put it on. As my lips seem intent on pulling a disappearing act, I'll try pretty much anything, especially as - despite what many people might say - I never had a big mouth to begin with! This product does not sting and burn, it's not irritating, and you can kiss your SO goodnight without prompting yelps of pain. That's the good news. However, I can't say that it makes a huge difference in terms of plumping - it's more a moisturizer. And it's very expensive; however, it does last a long time. When this tube (my third) runs out, I'm not sure I'll buy it again. Maybe...but maybe it's time to see what else is out there.

    L'Oreal Paris Telescopic Mascara

    Great mascara, lousy brush

The good news - this is a great mascara, reasonably priced, makes my lashes look great. I like the small spooley - it really helps get all my lashes and it's similar to the much pricier Chanel. So why did I pitch my less than half-used tube of this into the trash this morning? After a few uses, the brush begins to bend and becomes almost impossible to re-insert into the tube. I've struggled with it for two weeks now, and I'm giving up. Other L'oreal products don't seem to have this problem, and I've never encountered this with Lancome or Chanel mascaras with similar brushes. Maybe you do really get what you pay for...

    Guerlain Jicky Parfum

It's been around this long for a reason!

I love this scent - I love its history, its backstory, its versatility. This is an every day, every season, all events kind of scent - it always seems right. It's refreshing but substantive. I love the citrus burst in the beginning - what a great way to wake up in the morning! and the lavender based dry down is a delight. This reminds me of the old commerical for Secret deodorant: "Strong enough for a man - but made for a woman." Men could certainly wear this, but it's not a masculine scent. Just a delightful one. I prefer the EDT to the perfume, oddly enough - it's a bit lighter on the civet - but any form of this scent is an investment worth making.

  • Lancome Magnifique Eau de Parfum

I was anxiously awaiting the arrival of this scent - I love woody florals - but after several trys I am very disappointed. This perfume is VERY strong - sample it lightly because it's hard to wash off - with impressive sillage. Strong and sillage are not bad in themselves - but you have to like the scent, and I do not. It has a rose note, which reminds me a bit of Mille et Une Roses (which I love) but that note is almost entirely overpowered by a strong amber-y base that manages to smell...cheap. This is going to be a love-it or hate-it scent for most people, I think, and it may very well be one that the folks in the cubicle next to you will not appreciate. I'm still waiting for that perfect feminine woody floral that I know is out there...

  • Estee Lauder Pure White Linen Light Breeze Eau de Parfum Spray

This is a great scent to wear to work or a job interview. It's light (if you don't overapply - remember that American perfumes are fairly strong compared to European ones), with a definite tea note. I find most tea based perfumes too strong, but this one is just right and is perfect for warmer weather, although I will probably wear it year round. It's Full Bottle Worthy in my opinion. The name is ridiculously long - but the juice is worth the time it takes to utter it!

  • John Frieda Frizz-Ease Secret Weapon Flawless Finishing Creme

I'm always looking for the perfect anti-frizz product - unfortunately, this isn't it. Or maybe it is and I just can't get the dosing right. Too small a dab and I can't get it evenly distributed...but too large a quantity leaves my hair greasy looking and stringy. It weighs my hair down and leaves me looking in need of a wash by the end of the day. And forget skipping a wash the next day - by morning my hair looks as if it hasn't been washed in a week! The antidote to dry and frizzy shouldn't have to be greasy and weighted down - but for me, with this product, that's what happens. The leave in overnight cream works MUCH better!

  • Chanel Precision Hydramax + Active Serum Active Moisture Boost

Texas is dry - dry and hot in the summer (as in right now!) and dry and cold in the winter. I've used serums for a long time, but found lately that my face still looked dry and chalky - and wrinkly by mid-day. This serum is deceptively light, not at all greasy, absorbs quickly - and keeps my skin looking dewy fresh virtually all day. It's simply the best aid to moisturizer I've ever found - and I've tried most of them. I'd give it at 10+ for effectiveness (my score of 9 is based on its price).

    Chanel Levres Scintillantes Glossimer

    A lip gloss that lasts

Yes, it's expensive. But if you like the look and feel of gloss and get tired of re-applying it every minute, this is the gloss for you. My job involves A LOT of talking, and this is the only gloss I've ever tried that has staying power. The gloss also conditions your lips - great protection as we head into winter here - and comes in quite a few colors, virtually all of them wearable and flattering. The deeper ones can be worn alone, but I also like to layer them over lipstick. Chanel salespeople at department stores are usually very helpful in finding shades for you. Even if you're on a budget - try one of these as opposed to a bunch of cheaper ones. You won't be sorry.

  • Bobbi Brown Brightening Lip Gloss

I love the colors this gloss comes in, and it's relatively long-lasting (for a gloss) but the brush applicator is awkward and mess. The brush quickly becomes bent anf distorted, making the problem worse as you use the gloss. This would be a great product is they replaced the brush with some other applicator!

  • The Body Shop Headband

Much nicer to use than a shower cap and easy to keep clean. The price is right, and the Body Shop is a socially and environmentally conscious company.
