  • Essie Nail Polish
    10.0

    Essie Nail Polish

Top notch! HIGHLY recommend and here is why..

I originally rated Essie Nail Polish a 9/10 and after trying numerous brands since, reviewing about a dozen and looking at my huge collection of polish my boyfriend thinks I am crazy for owning, I had to change my rating to a 10. I have tried almost every brand (Hard Candy, Sinful, China Glaze, OPI, L'OREAL, Rimmel, Revlon... the list goes on) you can find in the stores in my area (Walgreens, Walmart, grocery stores and Ulta) I can now say hands down, no argument Essie is my favorite, go to brand and the first brand I look at when buying not only polishes but nail products in general (I'll save those reviews for their respective pages). Every time Essie comes out with a new line, I immediately check it out and usually love and buy at least one color. I own twice as much Essie polish and products then any other brand. For a high end polish it is a decent price ($8.50 or around that, Walgreens had a buy one get one 1/2 off sale recently and I bought so many it was insane haha) and the pigments are perfect. It takes 2 coats to get the perfect color no matter if its a glitter polish (which I am very picky about and only like one other brand for my glitter polishes) or a matte color. Every color comes out perfect and exactly as it looks in the bottle, which is hard to find in any polish. The polish also has great staying power. I always use a base coat now but before I used one the colors still lasted well over a week with very minimal, if any chips. The colors also look amazing without any sort of top coat ( I use a top coat anyway to add a little kick of shine and to seal the deal) but with a top coat they are downright perfect. Essie is at the top of my list of brands hands down and I could rave forever about how great the produce is. I recently bought "Cute As A Button" and I so excited to try it. I could list off so many colors I am obsessed with ("Watermelon", "Jump In My Jumpsuit", "Dive Bar", "Size Matters" to name a few) but take my word for it: Essie is the #1, top nail polish brand in my book.

  • Sinful Colors Nail Color

    Sinful Colors Nail Color

Great price, tons of colors but...

I own a TON of Sinful polishes. They are relatively easy to find ( Walmart and Walgreens have the most variety), have one of the largest varieties of color (there are seriously dozens in every color imaginable) and the biggest plus: they are only $1-$2! Now, I usually change my nail polish every few days because I like a change, rarely do I wear a color longer then a week unless I am testing the staying power of the polish to write a review. My main complaints about Sinful polishes are 1. They aren't as pigmented as I would prefer. Sinful is the only brand I own where 9 times out of 10 I have to put on 3-4 coats to get the color on my nail to appear the way it looks in the bottle. Putting this many coats on makes painting nails take longer then it should, even with quick dry drops. I don't like that because the longer it takes to dry the easier it is to ruin a nail :( I rarely buy the glitter polish because without a base coat its impossible to get a decent amount of glitter without putting a ridiculous amount of coats ( I am talking like 6 or more) on. 2. Even with a good base coat and top coat the colors chip really quick. Even for someone like myself who changes my polish every few days, I usually have chips in my polish after about 3 or 4 days. For the price, the polish is great but if you need a polish to last for a week due to time, I would look elsewhere. I want to find a way to get the polish to last and the color to pop without a white base coat because the price is a steal and there is an insane amount of colors to choose from. I would say don't rule out Sinful because it really isn't the worst polish out there but don't have high expectations. You get what you pay for.

  • L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche Nail Color

L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche Nail Color

Lots of beautiful colors at a great price

I went through my HUGE nail polish collection to see what I own, what I like and what was worth reviewing. I just recently started trying to broaden my horizon as far as brands are concerned ( I used to only own 3 brands: Sally Hansen, Essie and ELF) and found that I should have checked out L'OREAL nail polish a long time ago! Not only is there a wide variety of colors but they are decently priced ( about $5 depending on where you look), easy to find (available at drug stores, cosmetic stores like Ulta and pharmacies) and the polish is a solid product. For the most part the colors only need 2 coats to get a great, pigmented color just the way it looks in the bottle and they last a decent amount of time ( at least a week). One of my favorite things about this line of polishes is the glitter colors. I love using glitter polish for a gorgeous accent nail that really pops but I am not a just not a huge fan of chunks of glitter, I like the glitter to be very shimmery but to be clearly glitter without huge chunks that look like sequins. L'OREAL nail polishes have the best glitter polishes I have found with the perfect amount of glitter in each brush stroke. I absolutely LOVE 140 Diamond In The Rough ( silver glitter with a very slight pink tint). The glitter colors are very pigmented and concentrated so you don't have to put 3, 4, 5 coats to get the glitter to look the same as it looks in the bottle like most polishes and they are just all around gorgeous colors. I cannot lie, most of the nail polish I own has some sort of shimmer or glitter, as much as I want to use matte colors I always default back to colors with shimmer and glitter but usually don't tend to find colors I absolutely love like I always do with L'OREAL polishes. I usually change colors after a week because I want a change rather then because my polish is chipping but 380 Butterfly Kisses( pastel lavender color with a slight silvery shimmer) was my favorite color for most of June, I loved it so much I think I reapplied it 3 times. The colors are all so gorgeous I can't just look at them, I end up buyin one. Nude colors are very difficult to find for me, most don't look good with my skin tone but 350 Charmed I'm Sure (Nude/Tan color with shimmer) changed my mind. The wide variety of color suits any skin tone, for anyone. If you are in the market to try something new but are on a budget I highly recommend these polishes.

  • Revlon Scented Nail Enamel

    Revlon Scented Nail Enamel

    Unique idea but nothing special

Now, don't get me wrong I own 2 colors and absolutely love Powder Puff ( very light pink with slight silver shimmer) but the scent part is really unnecessary. My step dad can't stand the smell of nail polish and I wanted to see if these made any difference to him and they didn't. The colors are beautiful and are pigmented so they only need 1-2 coats but you can't really smell them until they dry and the scent only lasts a few days. On the plus side, the color lasts longer then the scent but I feel like because they are scented they cost more ( I would say they are on the higher end of drug store polish for about $6-$7). I will hand it to Revlon for being creative in adding smells to nail polish but I think you should be able to start smelling them when you open the bottle, not once it dries.

  • Revlon Transforming Effects Nail Lacquer

    Revlon Transforming Effects Nail Lacquer

Best nail polish find in a long time

Revlon really had a great idea with the Transforming Effects line! I have Gold Glaze, Pink Glaze and Holographic Pearls... and I want more! These add shimmer to any color. Have you ever found a color and thought "I love this color but I wish it had some shimmer"? This line is your solution. Pick any color you own that is matte and add this as a top coat and you instantly have a perfect shimmer. It not only adds the shimmer you crave to colors but it also adds a great pop to a basic French manicure. Since it is a top coat you only need this polish on your base color, no clear coat needed. I am definitely going to buy more of the line. This top coat is perfect to just add a little pop to an accent nail or to make a basic matte color really eye catching. Not only does the top coat add a little extra to your nails but it is also good as a top coat. It really seals in your color and adds staying power. It is a really unique product to the market as I haven't found anything like it anywhere even with the high end brands which reminds me, its a great addition to your polish collection not only for how unique it is but its not hard on the wallet. You can find these at your local drug store for about $5. I truly think this is a must have to any nail kit. There are not very many options but they work on any color you have or you can just paint a coat directly on your bare nail to add a small pop to your nails. The more coats you put on, the more shimmer/ glitter you get so they look great with just one coat or 3 coats. I highly highly recommend giving Transforming Effects a look next time you are looking for nail polish.

  • Hard Candy Nail Polish
    7.0

    Hard Candy Nail Polish

Great choice for bright, vibrant colors!

Hard Candy nail polish is a great line of colors if you are looking for bright, vibrant colors. None of the colors I have seen are anything but which is both good and bad. If you are looking for a pastel, light blue or pink you need to look elsewhere but for vivid, one of a kind bright colors this is exactly where to look. Currently I have 727 Crush on Hot Pink on my toes and I love it. Normally I change my nail color once every few days but this color I love so much I reapplied it twice! Not only are these colors unique and bright but the shimmer is amazing! It is hard to find a good shimmer that doesn't need a base coat to get the shimmer to really pop but this polish stands on its own and really pops. The previous review talked about the color Little Hottie and she was spot on about the color. I also recommend 632 Piece of Papaya (which is a vibrantly shimmery pinky peach color). The colors are insanely pigmented so they only take 2 coats to look exactly the same way they look in the bottle and really last awhile for a drug store polish (about a week without chipping). They are very budget friendly, are available online or at Walmart stores. In general Hard Candy cosmetics really pop and are eye catching (which is an understatement). I always get compliments on how great my nails look when I am wearing these colors. The glitter colors ( like Lace Me Up which is a black base look with pink, almost purple color) have a ton of glitter in every coat. This polish brand is my go to for accent nails, it really pops and catches the eye. I wish the brand was easier to find in stores (as previously stated its only available at Walmart) and there aren't a ton of colors to choose from. In the whole scheme of nail polishes these are minor complaints because the product itself is a top notch polish for a decent price ( I got my colors for about $4)

  • Sally Hansen Insta-Dry Fast Dry Nail Color
    9.0

Sally Hansen Insta-Dry Fast Dry Nail Color

One of the best quick dry lines available

Sally Hansen is my one of my top, go to brands in general as it is a great brand for tons of cosmetic needs ( polish colors, top coats, tools, etc.) and the Insta-Dri brand is a great example as to why I choose Sally Hansen for most my polishes. Although there isn't a huge selection of colors, there are plenty of colors to choose from ranging from lights such as 38 In A Flash to nudes like 114 In Nude Trial, pastels to darks such as 18 Cinna-Snap, vibrant colors like 435 In Prompt Blue and mattes to litter and shimmer colors like 115 Making Mauves (all colors I own, I am actually wearing 110 Style Steel). There aren't a lot of colors but with the colors available you can always find a color you like or the color you want. It really does dry very quickly as it claims and most the colors you only need one coat to get a great color. If you do need to or want to add a second coat it does take a bit longer to dry but it is still a lot quicker then regular polish. I have said before and I will reiterate that Sally Hansen is a great brand and is my go to, top choice for all nail polish I buy. The Insta-Dri line is decently priced ( I usually find it for $5-$6) and it is available most anywhere (grocery stores, pharmacies and cosmetic stores) so if you are making a late night trip to find a new polish color, it is easy to find and definitely a polish to look to first. Since it dries so quickly it is a good polish to carry in your purse for touch ups if you tend to be rough on your nails like m e and need touch ups to keep the color on for a few days. Most quick dry polishes tend to chip faster (from my experience) and this polish, even with as rough as I am with my nails, lasts and holds up very well.

  • Sally Hansen Satin Glam

    Sally Hansen Satin Glam

Great colors, not a great selection

I love this polish! The shimmer is really pretty. Unfortunately, there are only 8 colors to choose from and I cannot find it anywhere now (July 2015). Its a good price (I believe $4-$5 at drugstores) and when I first bought them I was in love. Out of the 8 colors available I love 6 (orange is not a good color for me, and I am not fond of the blue) If you use the polish without top coat it dries this shimmery texture that looks almost matte ( I know this sounds weird but it is really cool) and if you use any top coat it is this amazing shimmer I have not found in another color. ** As I was writing this review it seems the color is no longer available unless you purchase it online- it is worth the shipping though. My must try shades in this polish are: 05 Chic Pink (darker pastel pink with light shimmer color), 01 Go Gold (gold color with light almost white shimmer), 02 Crystalline (White color with white sort of light silver shimmer), and 08 Silk Onyx (black color with light silver, almost white shimmer) You can still find these colors online although it looks like the stock on them is limited. I love this polish enough to recommend the online purchase. Its unlike anything I have found and the color is unique since it comes out with the matte type texture look with dull shimmer if you don't use top coat and with top coat is a gorgeous shimmer.

  • Revlon ColorStay Gel Envy Longwear Nail Enamel

Revlon ColorStay Gel Envy Longwear Nail Enamel

Not a bad polish, but I have some complaints

I have a few shades of this polish ( I am currently wearing 110 "Lady Luck" which is a peachy pink with gold shimmer) and the color is great and solid, you really only need one coat for a nice color. It lasts just as long as OPI, Nicole or Essie and is cheaper but I would choose any of those 3 over this color for two reasons: 1. It is thick and by thick I mean the consistency is similar to old nail polish (the gooey consistency) which makes it insanely difficult to work with. 2. It takes a long time to dry. If it weren't for those 2 things it would have a higher rating. The one thing that bothers me most is the thick consistency. It makes the polish really hard to put on without getting streaks. If my only complaint was the drying time I wouldn't have such a problem, using quick drying drops works relatively well with it but I hate the gooey thick consistency. It almost seems like its old nail polish. I love the color selection ( I also have 400 "Royal Flush" and I love the color). I don't completely rule this polish out when looking for new colors but I definitely don't make these my first choice of gel type polish without the LED light. I like Sally Hansen better.

  • John Frieda Root Awakening Conditioner

I have psoriasis and it's the worst on my scalp. This conditioner is the first conditioner I have used that actually soothes it. Not only is it soothing to my scalp but it leaves my hair so soft and frizz free. I massage the conditioner into my scalp followed by running a wide tooth comb through my thick tangly hair and towel dry. It is amazing how much it works. If it works this well for my horrible psoriasis ridden scalp I cannot imagine how well it will work for a normal or even dry scalp. It even leaves this tingly feeling after rinsing it out. Before using this product my psoriasis was red and inflamed after showers now it is a light pink and flake free, it almost seems it's getting better. I highly recommend this. The price is also amazing considering most products I have tried for a stubborn scalp are 2-3 times the price and don't nearly as soothing. Definitely repurchasing.
