    Urban Decay Liquid Liner

    My favorite liquid liner!

I normally prefer either cream or liquid eyeliners - despite the "learning curve" for using a brush accurately, I find that I get a neater line, more control, and more intense color than if I used a pencil. This liner is remarkably easy to apply and the colors have a lovely sheen, with excellent color payoff. It does not transfer (provided I let it dry thoroughly) and lasts literally all day and then some, but comes off effortlessly. It does take patience, as it is slow to dry - but a hairdryer, set on low/cool, will hasten the process if you are in a hurry. I own Radium (bright blue), Crash (metallic purple), and Perversion (black ink) . Highly recommended!

  • Jonathan Product Silky Dirt Shine & Define Creme

I like the shine and control that Silky Dirt imparts, but I have two caveats: one is that you need to use a very small amount, and be especially sparing near your roots. It'll look and feel pretty terrible unless you keep it well along the shaft or on the ends. Also, I find the smell cloying and it clashes with some of my perfumes. I don't use this every day, but I do like the texture and it works really well in conjunction with my straightening iron.

    Smashbox O-Glow

    Just Doesn't Work for Me

I really, really wanted to like O-Glow, but alas, 'twas not to be. I have to use a fairly full-coverage foundation, which might be part of the problem, since it mixes & smears with whatever else is on my face at the time. I also found that I can only use a TINY drop or else I get an unnaturally doll-pink mess that is very unflattering on my skin tone. And as for "your perfect shade", be aware that the color won't really change based on your skin- just the intensity (when we tested it on our hands, my husband and I got almost the exact shade, even though I am fair with pink undertones and he is medium with olive tones.)

    Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation

Finally! A foundation that matches, stays, and works!

I am a huge, huge fan of this foundation. The "Rose Ivory" matches my winter tone exactly, and with some judicious stippling, even this full-coverage cream looks sheer and natural on me. I have normal/dry skin and this foundation stays on me all day without making me feel greasy and unpleasant by evening. The price ($42 USD) is a little offputting - but it does last a long time since I don't need much to even out my tone and cover my discolorations.
