    La Mer The Lip Balm

    La Spare (Me)

I agree with "who are they kidding"--I always lusted after La Mer as the ultimate in unattainably expensive skincare. I bought the lip balm, thinking I could use it as a barometer to see if the Miracle Broth lived up to the hype. I mean, the lip balm is o-kay, but not 45 bucks o-kay! I am a lip-product junkie, and I was not thrilled with this product at all. I'll stick to Smith's Rosebud and get my Miracle Broth when I order steamers in the Hamptons.

  • Olay Daily Facials Night Cleansing Cloths

I have used Olay cleansing cloths before, and think they are pretty okay, but this one is hard to use and the lather runs out really quickly. Literally, the cloth slides around, so it's hard to scrub with it. Plus, it doesn't work as well as the pre-moistened ones at removing eye makeup.

  • Prescriptives Rain Gloss

    Prescriptives Rain Gloss

    What the heck?

Prescriptives skincare, lipstick, and moon gloss have all been a hit with me, so I was majorly let down when this gloss had the weirdest texture I have ever encountered in a lip product. First off, the color was supposed to be watermelon-y, and is a frosty, opaque, vaguely beige-pink. I'm not sure how to describe the texture, which is not cooling at all to me, but ,rather, feels masky and fake, and it is drying. The only other time I used something remotely similar was a gloss by Avon. I'll try to find it.

  • Chanel Le Crayon Yeux Precision Eye Definer

I love Chanel (who doesn't?), but I bought this eyeliner (which is a HUGE indulgence for me) and I hate it! Its coverage is spotty and it tugs even if I try to warm it first. I still use it because I refuse not to after having spent the money on it, which is ridiculous, but there you have it. I got a limited edition shade: blue denim. Even the smudgy-sponge doesn't work well if the eyeliner doesn't eve go on to begin with!

  • Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Shampoo

This shampoo is great--I'm so glad I tried it (it was on sale, and it was already so low-priced!). It has just enough sudsing power to make your hai feel clean, and just enough conditioning power to let you skip that step. My friends have asked me what I've been doing to make my hair look so healthy, and I'm actually doing less than I ever have. Plus, it smells ok--I can't use a shampoo, no matter how good it is, if I hate the smell. This one's almost got that fruity/candy smell, but it's very faint. I buy this whenever I can in case they stop making it.

  • Prescriptives Traceless Skin Responsive Tint

This is the first foundation product that I have ever bought that I actually used up. I am on my fourth tube. I'm not sure why it works where other tinted moisturizers don't, but I don't really care--it goes on easily, blends easily, totally evens out skin tone, and disappears. It doesn't make me break out, which some of those silicone-based mattifiers and primers do (they do look make my skin look great, so sometimes I 'risk a zit' if I have an important event!), ad it actually feels better than nothing at all. It, quite simply, rocks.

  • Clinique Full Potential Lips Plump and Shine

I love this stuff--in Blackberry Bloom. It is a little sticky at first, but that wears off pretty quickly and leaves almost a barrier of moisture on your lips that lasts for-freakin-ever!!! Plus, it has retinol, so while it doesn't do that immediate tingly-plump thing, my lips are actually fuller and softer since I started using it. No joke.

  • Olay Age Defying Body Wash
    7.0

    Olay Age Defying Body Wash

    look-out, glass!

This stuff, plus the in-shower, rinse-off moisturizer that it came with, work so well that I'm trying to decide if they are worth the extra time it takes to scrub clean the shower walls and glass doors they leaves such a residue on. The only thing I can find to remove it is white vinegar, and, since the extra scrubbing has gotta be burning some calories, I might just have to stick with it!

  • Origins A Perfect World Antioxidant Moisturizer with White Tea

I bought this moisturizer as part of a set of "A Perfect World" products, and, while they were all good, this one stands out. With so many facial moisturizers to choose from, it is exceedingly difficult to find one that not only does what it claims to do, but also doesn't react badly with your skin, or feel too greasy, or smell horrible. This has the perfect balance between too rich and too light, the texture is bliss, and it smells so great I went out and bought the body lotion, too. I only wish it had sunscreen, but ading it would probably mess with how perfect it really is!
