This is one reliable mascara. The rubber bristles really get between lashes, so you can sweep through coat after coat. The tapered tip allows for precision work in the inner and outer corners of the eyes, and the smaller brush makes coating lower lashes easier. It builds thick, stand-out lashes that get noticed.

I'll admit I was a little leery of this product at first. I mean, a moisturizer that bypasses the word "lotion" and goes straight to declaring itself a "cream?" But although this moisturizer is very hydrating, it doesn't make me greasy! It really nourishes my skin and makes my skin look replenished and supple. A pea-sized amount is all it takes to hydrate the entire face. In fact, it makes my skin so silky that I've been skipping primer and going straight to the foundation. My foundation goes on so smoothly and evenly and doesn't slide off during the day. This moisturizer is like the ultimate skincare smoothie, blended with passion fruit, spinach leaf, green tea, algae, wheat germ and coconut.

For me, MAC Fix+ is like the Holy Water of the cosmetics world. Formulated with vitamins, minerals and skin-soothing green tea, chamomile and cucumber, this spray is magic. With a few light mists, it melds foundation, powder and blush together. The result is a finished look, where makeup looks almost airbrushed on, and even if you're wearing a foundation with more coverage, it will just look like great skin, not like a caked-on catastrophe. Fix+ also sets makeup, acting like an invisible, weightless shield that protects makeup throughout the day. The setting power of Fix+ is truly remarkable.

Available in a wide variety of shades, this jet-milled, smooth powder never looks cakey and sets foundation to the perfect finish. Worn alone, it's not really going to cover much, but yet this product has the perfect amount of pigmentation to help supplement your foundation to give your skin a flawless look. (It also has enough pigmentation that if you don't have the right color, you'll be able to tell). Once applied, this powder helps prevent smudges and absorbs oil (but you still may need to blot if your prone to oiliness). It doesn't settle into pores, but rather creates a velvety finish on skin that seems to hide pores. Marvelous!

Baked to perfection, this super silky fine powder leaves my skin looking velvety and smooth. Unlike other mineral powders, this doesn't leave a sheen on the skin--instead it imparts a creamy matte finish. It never looks cakey and doesn't ever change colors or end up streaky after hours of wear. This powder isn't heavy, but I do find I can wear less foundation, and a dusting of this powder will disguise any lingering imperfections. For areas where I want extra coverage, like under the eyes or a blemish, I employ my trusty MAC 227 brush for concentrated application. If you decide to give this powder a try, be sure to get your shade matched first! These powders seem to run on the lighter side (for reference, I'm an NC20 and I use Medium).

An encounter with this liquid oil bronzer is sure to bring out your inner Brazilian beauty. This body bronzer may look like molten metal in the bottle, but it shows up on the skin as a subtly shimmery, sexy sheen. The tan-toned glow looks natural and healthy. Although this product is oil-based, it doesn't leave an oily film, but absorbs beautifully, leaving skin softened and lightly moisturized. The Monoi de Tahiti oil fragrance is so unreal it deserves its own paragraph. This intoxicating tropical sweet (but not too sweet) floral will transport you to paradise, with a few admirers in tow. Resist the urge to totally bathe yourself in this product. You can still put it on head to toe, but use a very controlled amount, massage it in well and let it set for a few minutes before getting dressed.

Let me just say, I searched the ends of the earth to get my Too Faced Caribbean in a Compact Sun Bunny. While I guess the easy thing would have been to just order it online after it was sold out at every Sephora in the DC metro region, I soldiered on by foot, errr car I mean. After seeing the tester in Sephora, I knew this was going to be the perfect bronzer for summer. I finally located one at Ulta, and it is every bit as wonderful as I'd suspected. If you are scared of bronzer, be not afraid of the Sun Bunny. It will leave your skin gently sun-kissed and natural-looking. The sheer satin formula just glows on skin. I haven't been super into bronzer in quite some time (my MAC bronzers are just too intense for me and I wasn't feeling it) but now I've become a Sun Bunny worshiper!

As soon as I laid eyes on Pink Topaz Bronzed FX by Cover FX, I knew I had to have it. There it was--a deep warm, sunny pink with flecks of sparkle. So, you can imagine my disappointment when it turned out to be a dud. The color is gorgeous but veeery sheer. In other words, you won't be mistaking this for a NARS blush anytime soon. Yes, you can build up the color, but it has zero staying power. I don't know how it just disappears, but it does. This product is a mineral pressed powder, but I don't think its sheerness or lack of longevity can be attributed to that, because I've used bareMinerals blush in the past with neither problem. I suspect it could be that this product contains talc (as the first ingredient) whereas bareMinerals does not. On top of that, it's pretty pricey--$28, and the compact isn't even cute looking.

A tiny amount of this fragrance-free cleanser froths up into an ample amount to cover your face in whipped goodness. The creamy, silky texture feels terrific and dissolves my Double Wear in no time flat. Even though this product is not recommended for use around the eyes, I have gently massaged it over my eye area (keeping them shut of course!), with not the slightest bit of irritation. While it doesn't completely get rid of my eye makeup, it does a decent job, and I dare say if you wore light eye makeup, this cleanser could handle it. Clinique recommends this cleanser for those with combination or oily skin. My skin is pretty much combination, and this leaves my skin feeling neither greasy nor dry--just healthy and clean. While this cleanser isn't revolutionary, it is a great basic cleanser that does its job and is enjoyable to use. This would be a nice pick for those who like to keep their skincare simple or those with allergies.

Quick, clean and easy, Clinique Perfectly Real Compact Makeup seemed like a winner. It wasn't. A light application of this oil-free foundation makes skin look flat and chalky, minimizing imperfections but not totally concealing them. Any attempts at trying to build-up this foundation results in a cakey, dry disaster. Those familiar with mineral makeup will especially find this powder lacking in luminosity and coverage. However, a couple spritzes with my trusty MAC Fix+ makes this foundation completely undetectable on the skin. But within a couple hours, it truly is undetectable on the skin--and not in a good way.
