So I have to say I was REALLy disappointed with this product for myself. The product comes in 2 choices Translucent and Dark. I happen to use dark. Well lets get right down to it. I love the foundation as its non-comodegenic.. full coverage with a nice dewy finish but sometimes its nice to be MATTE right? So i let the girl at the counter advise me that I needed the powder in order to set the CoverFX foundation. Which is fine cause I knew that. But what made me pretty upset was that it made me completely ASHY!! Now you dark skinned girls know what I mean. Ashy is not our friend. In fact it's no one's friend. Basically they have these great foundations in yellow based tones.. but one thing I have learned is that a bad powder can make for really bad makeup. I ended up having a pretty gray complexion once the powder was applied and didnt match my skin tone, no matter the amount of powder I applied it had the same affect. .. Let's just say pictures tell the truth. I went back returned it , which they were pretty good about actually, no questions.. small paper to fill out and my money was back.. But I knew I couldnt wear this makeup with no powder.. so I said what about Translucent.. yeahhhhhhhh not so translucent on my skin. But to be honest, a girlfriend of mine with olive toned skin used the CoverFx foundation/Translucent Loose powder and it looked fantastic on her. Suffice to say I decided to go with Aveda that has a REALLY great Yellow based powder for only 40.00 CAD that's changed my makeup life... Ah well... I heard they're revamping their colors so maybe they'll work on their powder. I gave it a 3 for the great customer service... otherwise it probably would have been a 1....AlysseImani;)

I cant stress how much I love this product. I'm a big fan of primers, So I've tried everything from Laura Mercier to Smashbox. And this is still my favorite. The idea of a primer is to create a flawless application for your foundation and therefore have a more flawless appearance and it's really great at achieving "No Makeup" makeup looks. This product glides on easily and a little goes a long way. I usually rub 2 pumps on the tips of my fingers and apply all over my face including eyelids ( helps to avoid creasing of eyeshadows) now you can use a moisturizer or not.. as my skin tends to be oily I dont need to.. but you're dry.. use a moisturizer despite anything this product CAN NOT replace a good moisturizer. It has a light floral scent.. and I actually found it a lot lighter than Smashbox, still a silicone feel, but it is less of a moisturizer than Laura Mercier ( which applies more like a lotion). Now I have acne prone skin, and the best partof this product is that it is non-comodegenic and it also contains all sorts of treats ie anti-inflammorty ingrdients and vitamins that it's competitors doesnt. Which is why its also called a treatment. So after It's applied I wait a minute to let it sink in and fill my pores evening skin texture ( silicone is one product that wont be absorbed by your skin which is how these primers work so well.. they fill in problem spots and smooth out texture while avoiding causing breakouts as your skin doesnt recognize it) I either use a powder/liquid foundation.. Witha liquid foundation I find that i can slide it on better . same with powder.. and i actually end up using less makeup as my skin isnt drinking it at the same time lol. But the test of a good primer is that it prolongs the life of your makeup and doesnt let it get oily and sink into your pores halfway through the day.. AND this primer WORKS! I have uneven textured skin.. been on accutane twice and have used multiple retinods/scar treatments .. so trust me when I say my skin is not the best.. but this product helps out a lot. It prevent my skin from soaking up my makeup and helps eliminate shine that appears halfway through the day.. as the CoverFX works as a barrier for it. Overall it does its job.. and I actually DONT use it with only my coverfx foundation.. I use it interchangeably with my Bobbi Brown/Iman foundations and powders and there's no difference to me. In comparison to competition it holds up quite well. Smashbox for me caused breakouts.. it contains far more silicone making it a little denser in texture and feel... which isnt necessarily a bad thing but it just didnt work for me ( plus i didnt get the bonus treatment ingredients) and Laura Mercier may be more moisturizing but it didnt hold up all day for due to the fact that my skin absorbed it... And COverfx is only 45.00CAD.. which is pretty damn good ! I hope you give it try

Many complain about Iman's products being too cakey and muddy, and I have to admit like the brand "Fashion Fair" she previously had a reputation for that... but her new products seem as though she's reworked the formulas... Cause I really like this product. I'm an Earth 2 .. so I'm a medium-dark brown in skin tone.. I have to work you with this product, the misconception is that its like a powder.. and it's NOT. It's a CREME to powder, which makes all the difference in how you apply it. Less is more. My greatest advise is that this is full coverage product.. and i wouldn't recommend applying it with the sponge provided and it takes up too much product which leaves that muddy/fake " I'm wearing a LOT of makeup" look and also makes you face really flat and unattractive.. but that can happen with any full coverage product... remember about 75% of the time it's the tools you use that affect how your product looks. I learned that the hard way ... ( ahhh the scary old pictures hidden under my bed at the moment that forever capture my experimental days) Anyways apply this with a foundation brush... you can even wet the brush for less coverage.. whats great is that lthis product is dense you can also use it to cover mild scars with a stipling/concealer brush .... i actually use this as a concealer due to it's matte appeal and there's no need to set it... in conjunction with her pressed powder for a complete look... Other than that I like the colors... I daresay she could expand them of course.. but if you dont find that exact match.. try going for a liquid instead and then using a loos powder to adjust the color somewhat or mixing... To be honest I use 2 foundation colors.. as with most dark skin there are too many undertones on my face and i cannot get a natural finish with just one. So i apply the dark around and as sculpting and the lighter color on the inside of my face highlighting the bridge of my nose and atop my cheekbones. Works like a charm!!!

Ok. So I was readin the reviews about these blushes, and I'd have to more or less agree. Alot of my reviews are probably going to be coming from a Darker Skin standpoint, because well. . . obviously I'm darker skinned so my needs will be different. As for Bobbi Brown blushes the best think is the variety of colors. And there are a lot!... Alot of companies have blushes that are too shimmery and we all know that shimmer in blushes can be your enemy. With Bobbi you get a pretty nice array of colors that suit a multitude of skin tones. I use the Cranberry which is an everyday blush for me that I cant completly turn into a Night TIme type of blush... I actually think the fact that her blushed are highly pigmented is GOOD thing, mainly because with the right Brush you choose how you would like to wear her blush... I usually have to use more makeup for blush to show up.. but with this I can go light or go heavy and switch my look right up!.. CONS? it's a little pricy for the little pot. Nice colors dont get me wrong but it's still a little pot.. and if you have the "Blush Crush" like me, you'll understand what I mean. Best colors for darker skin? Cranberry/Current/Peony - for a pink flair thats really in now.. ( I know it's a scary color but it looks AMAZING on!). ....AlysseImani.

As far as color ranges go for darker skin tones, I'd have to say Iman has one of the most accurate/large collections. Now the reason I include Accurate is due to the fact the products are not just yellow-based, but they are golde/olive/peach based products.. all blending into the base of your skin to be almost unnoticeable.. Now being a darker skinned woman, i KNOW how difficult it is to find the foundation you need to match your skin, and to give the benefit of the doubt, darker skin has a lot more undertones and colors than any other skin tone, so it is going to be harder to accomodate a range of darker skin tones.. But you'd think since Black Women in America alone spend the most on beauty products you'd find better lines of product out there from all brands . . .;) FoodFor Thought! Anyways, on to the Earth Dark Pressed powder... The first thing I noticed was how much coverage it gave.. The powder which I apply with a Goat Hair Kabuki Brush is easy to swipe on and has a light feeling while providing medium - full coverage. Now I have acne prone skin, so i'm a little scared of foundations/powders that dont outline Non-comodegenic, to say the least, but I've been using this powder for about 6 months and It hasnt made be break out once! So here's a break down of my observations of Iman's Pressed Powder. Consistency : Light on skin.. didnt feel heavy and didnt clog my pores.. ( make sure you wash your brush/sponge weekly to avoid breakouts) Coverage - Medium to full ( actually works really well with a stipling brush to act as a semi-concealer.. brush all over your face first with Powder Brush and the stiple over any dark pigmented areas.. it does a great job!) Color Range: - pretty good amount of colors.. blend of undertones is just right (Including Golden/ Yellow Based) that creates a much more natural color .. some may have to blend other colors together to get their skin tone just right.. ( cant really be helped with mixed skin tones though) Pros - CHEAP.. and it lasts forever.. i've had mine for 6mnths.. i wont need another one for another 4 .. and i use makeup every day. ( mind you I use a brush which uses less product.. but still does the job) Also used it as a setting powder to avoid turning my lovely liquid foundations Ashy. Cons - Rubs off.. OK i do have to say i fount it on my shirts quite easily.. but what makeup dsnt rub off?? You could always use Model In A bottle to hold your makeup in place if going out for a night on the town.... oh and the case... slight pet peeve but her name "Iman" rubbed off the case shortly after getting it.... I kinda wanted everyone to know which brand I was using for this one!
