I have short, straight Asian lashes and am striving for dramatic, thick lashes. My dream mascara would volumize, hold curl, and not tear out my lashes when removed. CoverGirl LashBlast does indeed give me dramatic volume. It holds curl better than my go-to Maybelline Full n' Soft. The waterproof has great staying power, lasting me through my workout without drooping, flaking, or irritating my eyes. Unfortunately, it takes a little while to remove with baby oil, but does come off eventually. Other cons: the large wand makes it difficult to coat the inner lashes without getting messy and it clumps occasionally. However, the clumps are tiny and I find sweeping a clean mascara wand solves the problem. Overall, LashBlast was worth my $7 and made my lashes look full, but I'd like to try other mascaras that are easier to apply before I go back to it.

The Smokey Brun quad, made up of brownish shades, was my very first try at eyeshadow. My friends walked me through how to make a smokey eye with this and the results were gorgeous. One could tell I was wearing shadow, but the shadow took backstage to my light brown eyes. It lasted through a night of heavy dancing and sweat and didn't look smudged at the end of the night. I currently wear the lighter colors in the daytime. I have no complaints about the applicator either. It's so easy to use. I bought this cheap at Walmart (under $3), and the next time I need eyeshadow, I will definitely turn to Rimmel again.

I loved Maybelline's Full N'Soft mascara and I'm still wondering why I branched out this one time. As I do before I buy drugstore makeup - the only makeup I buy - I read reviews, and L'Oreal Voluminous seemed to be a good bet. I went out to Walmart and bought it in Blackest Black (along with a tube of Full N'Soft, just in case). Voluminous clumped the first time I applied it, and the second time, and the third, etc. I was constantly wiping the wand and blotting my eyelashes to now avail. My lashes drooped from the weight. I debated trying the waterproof, but after that waste of money, why should I? At least the color promised, Blackest Black, was really black - black goop.

I first started wearing makeup last year, so I'm no makeup junkie. A year ago, I read the reviews here on TotalBeauty about this mascara and, thinking it was promising, bought a tube at Walmart for under $5. It was worth it! Full N'Soft Waterproof made my ashes look thick (with some curl) and to the touch, soft and smooth. My lashes were not brittle at all. This product also has staying power and I never needed to reapply after gym, dances, or pool sessions. It came off with Vaseline in the evening. I found out that one of my friends also uses this mascara and her lashes always look great. My only criticism is that after six months of daily wear (yes, it did last that long), it started to clump. This isn't too much of a drawback since it was about time I got a new tube to prevent infection, anyway. And when I did get a new tube, you can guess which mascara it was.
