    Nature Made Glow

Great Supplement for Skin and Hair

I've been taking the Nature Made Glow supplements for a while now. After a week of taking them, I noticed my oily skin seemed more balanced and my legs were not so itchy after shaving. Even though I do use a natural shave cream formulated for my skin, I would still have a little itching until I applied lotion. The supplements seem to have worked to help that issue. Although my nails have always been easy to grow, they would sometimes break when I bumped them on things due to their being hard. They do seem more flexible now and less prone to "snapping" off on the tips. I can't say I see much difference in my hair. My hair has always been good with growth and looking healthy but I'd say these could be a boost for overall hair health. Don't be afraid to use this supplement if you have oily skin. It will help balance it and you'll have a nice non greasy glow. The Vitamin B complex and antioxidant Vitamin E help protect and restore skin's moisture barrier while copper helps retain skin's bounce and elasticity. Nature Made is a quality company with good products and this one is no exception. While a good, heathy diet with plenty of water and exercise is the best thing for your skin, I'd recommend this product for anyone who wants to give their skin a healthful boost.

    Urban Decay Eyeshadow

    Wonderful!!!

I love these Matte Eyeshadows. Probably the best mattes I have ever used. Not at all chalky like many matte shadows. Goes on evenly and easily blended. Even the vibrant colours are sheer enough to not be gaudy. Long-lasting and stays true to colour. Urban Decay is such a great brand. I hope this product is here to stay!

  • Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer SPF 15

The Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer SPF 15 is great for days when the skin needs a light but lasting moisture and hint of radiance. It has a very light scent, applies evenly and absorbs quickly. A plus is that it comes in a pump form which is great for hygiene and convenience. The SPF is only a 15 so I recommend it only for days when you won't really be going outside except for short periods of time. Otherwise, you will want to go with another higher SPF product. The texture is smooth and does absorb quickly with no greasy after feeling. This is especially good for ones with oily or combination skin that tends to get an oily T-Zone. When used under other skin care products and makeup, it seems to be compatible and doesn't alter the feel or cause "pilling" of makeup (when your makeup applies but then disastrously rolls up into little balls). The radiance factor won't replace your highlighter but it will give your skin an little extra sheen when worn under light makeup. My skin is oily and I had no problems with it making my skin oilier. It seemed to work quite well in that aspect. For drier skin, the moisture in this lotion may not be enough. Going by how light it is, drier skins will more likely have to layer up with another heavier moisturizer or use a moisturizing makeup. As far as the claims of brightening the skin and any sunspots or discoloration, it seems to work somewhat. I only have one small area that has very mild sun discoloration and it doesn't show at all now. My guess is that if your discoloration is mild then this will work but if it is more severe you may see some lightening but nothing miraculous. Although I prefer more organic type moisturizers, I do have to give kudos to this lotion because it did fade away the area of mild discoloration. I just wish it had an SPF of 40 or higher. Overall, it is A-Okay.

    Nair Wax-Ready Strips Body

Decent but not Thorough Hair Removal

The Nair Wax-Ready Strips for Body are perfect for those who have finer textured body hair or do not mind the growing out period that hair needs to be wax-able. For people like me, with coarser leg hair, the strips may not do a thorough job of removing hair. I have dark body hair and I normally shave but have waxed before. The growing out phase is not fun and luckily the weather was cool so I could wear pants. As with the facial strips, I warmed these by pressing them with my palms. I wanted to make sure the strips separated easily and the wax adhered evenly to each strip. The process itself was overall painless and the smell of the strips was pleasant. I had very little residue left after waxing. I did have some areas where the hair had not removed, however. I tried these on the bikini area and they amazingly did a better job there than on my legs but still it was not completely thorough. I did not try the armpits. I just cannot bear to let my armpit hair grow to the length needed for hair removal. Judging from how the strips were on my legs, I do not thing they would have been efficient for removal of armpit hair, anyway. I do not wax my arms but I do think these strips would work on arm hair if someone did choose to utilize them for that since arm hair is usually finer texture. Everyone's hair removal needs vary so use accordingly. These strips were not completely bad but I feel they could have worked a little better with cleaner, more thorough removal. If your body hair is fine and sparse then you will probably have better luck than I did with leg hair removal.

  • Nair Wax-Ready Strips for Face and Bikini

Nair Wax-Ready Strips for Face and Bikini

Good for Face and Finer Bikini Hair

I have to say I am very pleased with these strips for facial use. For facial use, they were great. For the bikini, they were not as efficient. Most everyone has the fine facial hair called "peach fuzz". Usually it's no problem, but sometimes you just want it gone. These wax strips solved the problem quickly and pretty painlessly. I found it best to go ahead and evenly warm the strips by pressing on them with my fingers and palms. This helped the strips come apart more easily and the wax to stay evenly on each strip. Otherwise, I followed the instructions and got great results. If your facial hair is more prominent or coarser, you may find you have to go over the area again to completely remove the hair. Be careful if you have sensitive skin as going over it again with a strip may irritate it. You may be better off to follow up with tweezers to remove strays. Make sure to cleanse your face and dry it thoroughly before using the strips because they will not adhere to any oil or damp skin. I have oily skin so it was especially important for me to make sure I was oil free for the waxing. Overall, the strips removed the facial peach fuzz, left almost zero residue (which many strips do leave behind and it can be a pain to remove), and was actually not painful. The facial hair does not need to be 1/2 inch long for the strips to remove it. Thankfully, mine are not that long and the strips removed it very well. For bikini, the results varied. Most bikini area hair is coarse and I found the facial strips were not enough to remove hair. Some hair was removed but most wasn't. I got better results for this area with the Nair Body Wax Strips. They are larger and "stronger" for the job. So, for the Facial and Bikini Strips, I would recommend using them for facial fuzz only. I got good results by doing this.

  • Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+

I tried this moisturizer as part of Clinique's 3 Step Skin Care. After using this for several weeks I noticed nothing dramatic at all. If anything my skin was a little oilier after using this but that certainly isn't a plus. The lotion had an off-putting chemical smell and the fake yellow color wasn't so inviting either. It's not a thick lotion but it's still a little much for normal skin that tends to be a little oily. It won't be enough for someone with dry skin or a tendency to get dry. This lotion is over-hyped in my opinion. There are too many good ones out there to waste time and money on this one, especially in a skin care system that isn't all that. I wouldn't buy this again.

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation SPF 15

Doesn't Work as Well as It Once Did

Have you ever had a foundation you just loved and then for no reason at all it just stopped performing? Your skin has not changed, the formula seems to be the same but for whatever reason, the foundation you once loved is not so loved. I once raved about this product but now I rant. Did the formula get tweaked in a not so good way? The formula does seem a little thinner so maybe so. This once gave such good and smooth coverage but now it splotches and blotches and oxidizes which makes it look too dark for my skin tone. The wear is not even or lasting. I don't think I purchased a "bad batch" because after returning and exchanging the first bottle of non-performing foundation, the second one was just the same. I returned the second bottle and waited a bit to purchase another only to get the same disappointing results. I am not sure what happened with this makeup but It is such a let down. The price definitely does not equal or justify the quality anymore. I've stopped using it and moved on to a better product. Sometimes a makeup item just stops working and this, unfortunately, was one of those times.

Physicians Formula Organic Wear Tinted Moisturizer

Great for Light Makeup but Oily Skin Will Need Powder

I was interested in trying this because I'm a fan of organic skin care (it truly does make a difference with my skin) and I thought this seemed like good sun protection as well as suitable for light makeup days. I was right in that it is light makeup. It is, after all, a tinted moisturizer and the coverage is sheer. I suggest a light bit of concealing after application if you want more coverage. This feels pretty good on the skin. It's like bare skin. It wore well without any oxidation or turning the dreaded orange hue that oily skin can encounter with makeup after the skin oils come through. Do be aware that if you are oily skinned, like myself, you will have to add some powder to set the tinted moisturizer. Otherwise, your skin will get shiny and the the tint will wear off. I've learned with my skin to always add a layer of powder or at least a dusting of it no matter what I wear on my face. The sun protection is an added bonus but I still wouldn't call this an all-in-one product just because it's not oil control. If you have combination skin, I'd suggest powdering the T-zone. Dry skin will luck out here and not have to worry about shine. Sometimes I envy dry skin. Here's another note: If you are very fair you may find even the lightest shade is a little dark for you. If you are medium to light olive, like me, you should do well with this. Bottom line: This is a quality product for a decent price. It applies and blends easily, has a higher number sun protection and stays color true. Again, you'll need some powder and probably touch ups of powder if you're oily skinned but that aside, I'm satisfied with this purchase.

Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Lycra Flex Mascara

Performs as it should for me

I decided on a whim to purchase this product and had no great expectations. I'm probably what you could call a makeup snob but I am willing to give some non high-end brands a try. Purchasing this mascara, for me at least, was not a mistake. From the first time I used it, I was impressed with the amount of length and volume but what made it great for me was the fact that it lasted all day. I'm talking about a 10 hour day, too. I have had no clumping, no flaking, no crumbling and the only time it smears on me is when I do my high impact cardio workouts and running but ANY mascara would break down during that. As far as performance goes, I have no complaints. I do use an eyelash curler for a little lift prior to application. Unlike some mascaras, this one does not cause the curl to straighten out. It actually helps hold it. While I was out one day, a lady asked me if I was wearing false eyelashes and wanted to compliment me on how long yet natural they looked. I promised her my lashes were completely real. For me, that scenario confirmed that this Rimmel Scandal-Eyes was doing its job well. Everyone had different eyelashes and lash needs. Rimmel may work well for some and not so well for others. The best thing anyone can do is try different mascaras and stick with what works and ditch what doesn't. I can't speak for anyone but myself and as long as this mascara keeps doing what it is now, I'll repurchase it along with my higher end brand favorites.

Wen Sweet Almond Mint Cleansing Conditioner

Left my hair feeling dirty and clumpy

Although I am NOT happy with the results of this product, I am happy I did not actually purchase this. My mama, bless her heart, purchased this and thought I might want to give it a try also. All I can say is that from the start this stuff was terrible. I followed instructions exactly and I could tell from this minute I stepped out of the shower that my hair didn't feel right. It felt as if a slick film was coating my hair from not rinsing well and I definitely rinsed well. While blow drying my hair I saw exactly what havoc WEN wreaked on my hair. My hair was "clumpy" feeling. I think I could have actually gotten dreds from this stuff if I had wanted! Not only was it clumpy but it was dirty feeling and looked as if it had not been washed for weeks. Of course it would not hold any style and just hung down all piece-y and stringy. Yuck! My hair was also tangled and frizzy and my hair has never been frizzy. The styling products were just as bad and left my hair looking as if it had zero style. Bottom line: No, no and NO for WEN. For the record, I did try this product twice with both times having the same crappy results. I let my mama know how awful this stuff is and she had to agree as she was experiencing the same results. I went back to my usual good shampoo and now have my smooth, untangled, frizz free hair back. It took about two washes for my hair to be rid of the the coating of WEN junk on my hair. That, to me, says something about WEN. WEN is like putting a layer of tacky coating on your hair. It just sits on top of it and smothers it. Forgive me for the lame pun but WEN is definitely no win.
