I've used Cetaphil on and off for years because it's available and my dermatologists all tout its wonderful properties. Then again, the doctors themselves don't have the skin problems so that leads me to wonder - why do they all push for this product? Gee, I dunno, maybe because it's made by a money-hungry pharmaceutical company (Galderma) who makes prescription drugs..? Not to bash Cetaphil entirely because it is gentle overall but I've found that it doesn't make a difference if I use this as a body wash or none at all. And what's with all the parabens and propylene glycol?? Ick. Also, I don't know how relevant this may be but, for the past few months, I've been lazy to go out and buy my usual facial cleanser and used this instead. Big mistake. For a person with eczema to break out with pimples (haven't had this problem since middle school), what the heck??

I actually have been using Burt's Wild Lettuce Toner but seeing as this site doesn't list that one (it's for dry/sensitive skin), I'll just write my review here with this moni-disclaimer that it is not the exact same product I'm writing about. The past couple of years, I've been using this product with very good results. It's very refreshing, smells great and removes any extra residue on my face. Also, it helps clear up pimples and doesn't even irritate my extra sensitive skin (big plus).

I used to think that Dove was an admirable company seeing that my mother likes using their products so much. When looking past the image that the company has created for the general public, you should wonder whether it really is safe for you to use. Sure, it may "work" for you, but at what cost to your long-term health? ALUMINUM ZIRCONIUM TRICHLOROHYDREX GLY Concerns: Developmental/reproductive toxicity, Neurotoxicity BHT Concerns: Neurotoxicity, Endocrine disruption, Allergies/immunotoxicity, Organ system toxicity (non-reproductive), Irritation (skin, eyes, or lungs) PEG-8 DISTEARATE Concerns: Organ system toxicity (non-reproductive), Contamination concerns (ETHYLENE OXIDE, 1,4-DIOXANE, ETHYLENE OXIDE, 1,4-DIOXANE) ....just to name a few.

I recently purchased Avalon's Biotin Shampoo and I've been using it for about 3 days now. My hair feels baby soft once it's completely dry! I usually use the Giovanni line of shampoos and conditioners but thought that it'd be nice to have an alternate brand in case the end of the world comes (insert fake laughter) so I choose this one. It doesn't contain many of those nasty chemicals you'd find in the popular brands and the best part is - it's animal-friendly! I wasn't to ecstatic about the lather, in fact it feels kind of odd. I suppose the best way to describe the feeling is that it doesn't glide through your hair as smoothly as most other shampoos - perhaps due to the lack of artificial crappy chemicals (so it could be a good thing). Additionally, the smell of their Biotin shampoo smells very ginger-y even though it's secondary ingredient is Aloe and there actually is no ginger in the ingredient list at all. Reminiscent of an Asian dish I had long ago..

I had recently submitted an order on the internet for my favorite facial cleanser for the past 5 years (Alba's Sea Lettuce Facial Cleansing Milk) and decided to also get their toner this time around. As with the cleanser, I'm pleased with the performance of this product. It doesn't irritate my sensitive skin and it clearly picks up anything that has accumulated on my skin overnight. I use this now as part of my morning skin routine before I follow up with a facial moisturizer. Seeing that I don't like to overly wash my face (dry/sensitive), this has been a very convenient addition to my regime as well. ALSO, it's animal-friendly which is a huge plus with me :)

I used this product all the time for holding my updo's when I went out to parties and such and it does its job. When it comes to quality of product, it definitely has my thumbs up. If you don't want such a crunchy hold, be sure to apply to slightly damp hair and water down the product a tiny bit before application.

Over the years, Orly and OPI have been my favorite companies when it comes to nail polish color selection but what most consumers don't know (or care about) is that these companies do include highly TOXIC ingredients to their products. I mean, if the general public were notified that these chemicals cause all sorts of problems.. I must admit I have an odd addiction to Alba facial products (particularly their Cleansing Milk). I had bought this product some time ago and for the amount I paid for it, I'm not 100% thrilled with the results. Perhaps it's because I have a consistency problem using it daily? I have very sensitive skin (eczema) and so it works well during the warmer months when my skin isn't being problematic but when it is flaring up, I don't recommend this because it will sting a bit. All in all, if you have normal skin, this would probably do very well for you but if you're like me, you'll have to take breaks from it if you skin is acting up (ie outdoor allergies, food allergies)

...their Cleansing Gel just didn't do it for my sensitive skin. It was a little too drying for me but I highly recommend Alba's Sea Lettuce Cleansing Milk for those with sensitive skin. I handed this bottle off to a friend of mine who had an oily complexion and she did well with it.

For the past 5 years, I have been using this product on and off with very satisfactory results. As someone who has very sensitive skin (eczema), it's been the only facial cleanser I've used over the years that has not irritated my skin. It even washes off show make-up (with a tiny bit of help from my wash cloth)! Strangely enough, even the highly touted gentleness of Cetaphil didn't work out for me during my "I-ran-out-of-Alba phase". I even started getting pimples on my forehead with it.. *grumbles* It's the first product I've ever been such a loyal customer to - I even put in an order online last night for more :)
