I realize many aren't accustomed to coverage without a liquid base. I have tried (in no particular order) Chanel, Borjois, Lorac, Mac, Laura Mercier, Lancome and countless drugstore brands. I have pale skin with freckles, and it was always a challenge to find the right balance of coverage for my mild acne without looking like I was auditioning for Kabuki. On a whim I picked up this starter kit at Sephora and starting the next day I started hearing unsolicited comments about how my skin looked so good. I found that some of the colors were too dark ( a common issue for me) and it took practice to use the correct amount for the coverage I wanted. Functionally this is the best looking stuff I have ever used. On the downside, I can't use close to my eyes (havok if it gets in them), it can be messy (don't get all dressed up and sit down to apply this - do it over a sink or cover up because even a small amount sticks to clothing the way it does to skin). Not for everyone, but it works well for me.

I bought this, a foundation, brightening cream and a brush at a local boutique. I was given a history of LeClerc, how they have been making makeup for so many years, etc. Okay - so I bought. This pricey creme imediately settled into every line, caked up without any powder fixing it, and was an all-around disappointment, considering the price tag. I still use the brush, but the rest of it sits as an expensive regret in my reject pile.

A lot of people think the fragrance for Hope isn't pleasing. I don't like heavy fragrances in skin care products so I don't mind the mild scent. It does what it says it will - it gently stimulates skin renewal, keeps it moisturized. It is not oily, too thick or thin. It is pricey, so I recomend starting with a smaller size to see if you like it. I am on my second jar and it's my standard everyday moisturizer up and until some other product proves better!

I like the combination of two colors and the velvety consistency of the dual palette. When I want less coverage, I can mix a bit of moisterizer (I like Hope in a Jar) in my hand with a brush and pick up a bit less color. This settles into my fine lines considerably less than anything I have tried. This is the second product of Laura Mercier's I have embraced - the tinted moisturizer is my cold-weather foundation/primer of choice. The texture will be a surprise for those used to heavy sticks of silicon-based color - it neither feels like those, which have a tendency to settle into lines, nor like the old school "stick" concealers that tend to go on heavy.

I gave these as gifts this year because they really work! Your hands get a little "steamy" in there, but really does the trick!

Shiseido powders have always been a winner for me (I have very pale skin and hard to match) and I don't like heavy coverage - this does the trick and I am not reluctant to use near my eyes which are really sensitive.

I first used this when I had a spa certificate and they used this on my hair - it is the best shampoo ever! I only wish it didn\'t break the bank!
