    M.A.C. Lipglass

A bit too sticky for me, but great for most

I go through phases with this Lip Glass. Unlike its color counterparts this original clear lipglass is very sticky, and can be annoying on windy days with your hair down. But the effect it gives on lips where they actually look like glass is truly amazing and unlike any other!

  • Lancome Fatale Mascara
    10.0

    Lancome Fatale Mascara

Practice Makes Perfect! HOLY GRAIL MATERIAL!!

I have short lashes; very short in my opinion...or maybe just not long enough for me. In my years of wearing makeup I have devoted most of my time to testing different mascaras and stumbling upon many failed promises of what should have been a result of lush, long and perfect lashes according to catchy ads and displays. But after soul searching for that perfect mascara, I can say that I have finally found my holy grail of all mascaras. Lancome....I love you for this one. I first discoverd Lash Fatale at Sak's when it debuted and needed to just try it out. As soon as the makeup artist put it on me I was sold. After arriving home with it, yes there was a trial and error period. For starters this is not your regular mascara and doesnt have your regular brush. The applicator is actually a three sided comb. If you don't practice with the applicator you are almost guarenteed to either stab yourself in the eye or get globs of tint on your lashes. I probably practiced for a whole day before getting the technique right. In my opinion I find that bringing the comb to the start of the lashes and sweeping upwards in a straight motion works best. As for getting the corners of your eyes, you can angle the position of your hand to get corners of your eyes. Once you have developed your technique, you will notice that with this mascara, one coat alone is probably all you will need. For a more dramatic look, more coats can be applied. I definetly think that this mascara not only volumizes my lashes and makes them look longer, but when I go heavy on the coats I can certainly achieve that "fake lash" look; and people have certainly questioned me about it. The only CON that I have about this product is that its rather small in size compared to other mascaras, for example a bottle of Fatale is only .23oz, unlike compared to a bottle of Diorshow which is .38 oz (average size for mascara). Other than that, I LOVE this mascara. Some people may think otherwise, but I truly feel that anyone that has written negatively about this mascara on the web is simply because they didn't take their time to learn the much needed technique that is neccesary to apply this mascara. • T3 Bespoke Overnight

    T3 Bespoke Overnight

Little Dryer with a Big Roar!! Best of its kind!!!

So, yesterday as I was having an online conversation with my sister, she asked me if I had an ionic blow dryer at home. And I told her yeah. I've had a T3 Tourmaline Travel Dryer probably for over a year now, but I have never actually really used it. You see, besides the other 4 or 5 blow dryers that I have at my house, the main one that I use is a turbo professional Andis blow dryer that cost me about $80. This is the same blow dryer that is used by my stylist, so I purchased it specifically to deliver the same salon results at home. But the truth is, this regular blow dryer probably has too much power and can easily burn and damage your hair if not used properly, not too mention that it probably weighs about 4lbs and is strenuous for a person like me who has a ton of long hair. So then my sister asked me why I hadn't used the T3 dryer; and well, I don't know. You see, this dryer was actually given to me as a Christmas gift by one of my best friends, and I just simply never got around to using it. It's literally been new and sitting in the box all this time! Plus, I've always looked at travel size blow dryers as little incompetent versions that simply cant deliver the results that I want and aren't able to really tame all of my curly hair. Well you know what? I decided to give this little guy a shot today to see what it was packing. Besides at $130, this thing better had been able to do something! Before I proceed to the review, here is a little background on the tool itself: * 1200 Watts * Swivel compact handle * Packed with tourmaline gemstones which heat up to provide ionic components during drying * Generates negative ions and far infrared heat * The only dryer with a true ceramic heater * 48 month warranty So I washed my hair as usual and towel dried it. Now for less hair damage I usually like to set my hair in rollers first, sit under a bonnet dryer and THEN blow dry; but with this experiment I cut that whole process out and decided that the best way to test the full power of this mini blow dryer was to give it the full test by tackling my completely wet hair with it. As I opened the package and took the dryer out, I was surprised to see how small and light it was. Usually travel dryers are small but they still have some weight on them. Well not this little guy. Its super light and has an ergonomic handle so this was something that already began to appeal to my liking. It has two settings (low and high) and is also collapsible so that the handle becomes parallel to the dryer itself. So I parted my hair as usual and started to dry away. Immediately I noticed that my hair was drying way faster than usual, not only that but I noticed that this little thing roared like a lion the minute you set it on high. The lightweight design allowed me to move faster and maneuver my hair and the brush with much more ease than my regular dryer. Upon drying my hair I also noticed that it seemed softer and shinier and even more volume. With my regular dryer, if I were to use it on wet hair, I would get a straight finish but absolutely no volume at all. Overall, my usual drying time with my usual blow dryer can vary from 60-75 minutes. With this little machine, not only was my hair dry but it was also set and styled within 40 minutes! When my hair was done it was full of shine, softness and body. I absolutely LOVED the results of it and can only imagine what the full sized version of the T3 dryers can do. I think that this is a great hair dryer whether its to travel or to use as your primary and I truly did see a reduction in drying time, and an improvement in shine and volume and there was no frizz in sight. I would definitely recommend this dryer and I will absolutely look into purchasing the full sized version which retails for $300. Yes its expensive but its much less damaging on hair and overall worth the investment. • Fresh Sugar Icon Tinted Lip Treatment Sunscreen SPF 15

I am constantly dealing with yucky chapped lips, and it is a MUST for me to constantly condition my lips with good balm. But what I hate is lip balm that goes on and looks white and yucky...ewww!!! Well I have come across a favorite balm thanks to my cousin Ivette. She turned me onto Sugar from Fresh cosmetics. Here is the description on the product: Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15 blends reparative oils and waxes together with real sugar for delectable and dependable moisture with maximum sun protection. Sweet and tart blackcurrant oil cushions the lips with essential plumping fatty acids, while antioxidant grapeseed polyphenols and vitamins A, C, and E provide extra protection. I love this thing! No, it doesn't taste like actual sugar, but it goes on so smoothly and really conditions your lips, and no need of constant re-applying like with most balms. Also it comes in an awesome aluminium casing with the cap that screws on and off to the base which means it wont open accidentally, so for those of you who forgets their balm in their pockets only to discover it all over your laundry during the drying cycle...well those days are over now. Anyhow, this thing is great and it has been a favorite of mine for a few months now. I totally recommend this to anyone guy or girl. I LOVE IT!!! You can get this baby for $22.50 at Sephora!

  • Guerlain Divinora LipBalm

This past weekend I did some spring cleaning which included going through old makeup which I no longer needed, and I came across a full tube of Guerlain's Divinora lip balm. All of a sudden I was hit with a disgusted reaction and decided that this was definetly an item that I would be throwing away....but not before writing about it, of course! ;) Now, as I mentioned before, I am CONSTANTLY dealing with chapped lips, all freaking year long, so finding a good lip balm is always crucial to me (thankfully my search ended when I found this) and I figured that this would be a good try. I am usually a fan of Guerlain, I love their products and their quality, so why wouldnt good at lip balm, right? WRONG! I bought this at Saks Fifth Avenue sometime last year after testing a sample that the makeup artist had shown me. Initially, I was surprised at how velvety it felt; almost like a face primer but for lips, and it seemed very conditioning. So without hesitating I dished out the $22 for .12 oz tube (WHAT A RIPOFF!), and went off having high hopes. Well let me just with the fact that the texture of this balm completely changes after about two months or so. It goes from smooth to cruddy and even creates a NASTY crust around the spout no matter how many times you clean it off (think a tube of toothpaste that isnt wiped off daily...yeah, NASTY!). Not to mention that its totally lacking the conditioning part. I would apply it and then it would eventually dry up on my lips and begin to crease making me looked even more chapped. To top it off, after several uses it would go on so pale and would make me look like I just had a nasty film on my lips and not actual lip balm. I hate when lip balms make my lips look pale! EWW! I really tried to convince myself of this product and really tried to like it, but I just couldnt. It was so horrible. I dont know what Guerlain was thinking when they made this formula, because it seriously needs to be redone. Its just not right. Please stay away from this one dolls. It's just YUCKY!

  • OPI Nic's Sticks

    OPI Nic's Sticks

    Shake, plump, paint!!

We all know that manicured hands are just as important as groomed hair and brushed teeth. But I must admit that I am a victim of paid manicures as opposed to self-made. I just cant get it right for some reason! I always create a mess, end up with smudges and ridges and never have that "manicured" look. So I just head over to my nail salon and pay for the service...plus I think that the hand massage is sooo worth it! But that now may be a thing of the past... I bought this some time last month at my local drugstore but had not gotten around to using it. I picked a light pink sheer hue named 'Are We There Yet?'. I finally got around to testing it this past weekend and I must say that I am pleased! What it is: A conventional way of having nail polish in a much easier dispenser...a tube! How it works: The nail polish will only dispense onto the nail brush when pressing down on the tube at the opposite end of the applicator. Once pressed, the nail polish formula releases onto the nail brush and you are ready to paint. The Results: I can honestly say that Nic Sticks are virtually idiot-proof! They are extrememly easy to use and dry super fast. There is no mess whatsoever, and four days after the application, I have only minimal chipping; no different than if I would have gone to my nail salon. They are a great size and can fit into any purse and great to have on hand for quick touch ups! They come in 24 different shades and cost about $7-8 at drugstores. You can learn more about them here! • Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Talc-Free Mineral Loose Powder

In my past few trips to the drugstore I had been itching to pick this item up. As you all know I am probably the only beauty blogger that HASN'T jumped on the mineral makeup bandwagon just yet. I just have such mixed feelings about it, it's almost like something I am so curious about but I am too much of a punk to try it out. I just for some reason love my regular foundations and their full coverage, and I don't really feel the need to switch. And plus the whole mixing thing and adjusting colors and making a big mess; just does not fit into my busy schedule. But, heck why not give it a try and go on a quest for something that will make me happy, right?! Well while doing research on mineral makeup and reading experiences from my fellow beauty bloggers and editors it seems like a big culprit associated with a bad reaction is the mineral Talc. Don't know why, but a lot of other people have developed reactions to mineral makeup which include talc. One of the most common reactions associated with it appears to be itchyness and sometimes even swelling, and I really need to stay away from that because I suffer from bad allergies as is; soooo when I spotted this in the drugstore and its "talc-free" label it instantly caught my eye! So yesterday I finally gave in to temptation and purchased the mineral loose powder in Sand Beige. When I got home I opened the box it came in and opened it it and began playing with the application brush. As for the brush goes, it is small but the bristles (which are made of synthetic hairs) are very rough, almost too rough for me to use on my face. Also, I did not find that it grabbed the powder well either. I just couldn't see myself using this brush at all and don't see how could it give an even application. So I tossed the brush off to the side and decided I would use my own brush for the review. The powder does come with a sifter which I removed to get a closer look at the powder itself. I can say that the powder is very finely milled but when I applied it, the coverage was insanely sheer. Once again, this was beginning to turn into another experience similar to the one with the MAC Mineralize Loose foundation which was also very sheer. But I did not give up, so I kept buffing and kept applying, but still no coverage! I couldn't even tell I had any makeup on! And it felt very odd on my face. It didn't really feel like actual makeup, instead it felt like...I don't know it just felt weird!!! So, once again I was let down, and this did not meet my expectations at all. It may work for some people, but I personally don't like it. I think that the brush is harsh, the size of the powder itself is too big to put into a small purse, and there was no coverage. I need my coverage!!! Sorry Physician's Formula, but you didn't strike any type of gold with this one. PROS: Talc-Free Formula CONS: Messy Mowing the grass. No coverage Bad Brush Rating Price: $10-11 @ drugstores Quality: 1 out of 5 Selection: 2 out of 5 Packaging: 1 out of 5 Desired Result: 1 out of 5 Overall Rating: 1 SMOOCH Would I buy this again?: Nope

  • Sally Hansen Line Smoothing Airbrush Primer

I'm an avid lover of Sally Hansen's Airbrush Legs product, but had mixed feelings when they first introduced their Airbrush Makeup line a few years ago. Well I just noticed that they have added the Airbrush Primer to the line, so I decided to give it a try. For starters, just like their Airbrush Makeup, this is NOT an item that is sprayed directly onto your face. You actually have to spray it onto your hand or sponge and then blend into the skin. Sorry but the "airbrush" claim on this product, or for this entire line rather, is far from what it really is. Product Description Hydrating Primer with Retinol Smoothes, Firms and Perfects Skin! * Fills in fine lines to help skin appear visibly smooth. * Weightless formula with Retinol and Anti-Oxidant Vitamins smoothes skin's texture. * Minimizes the appearance of pores. * Helps reduce redness and moisturizes for hours. * Optical diffusers help skin look younger and incredibly flawless. * Perfect for all skin tones. * Wear alone or under makeup. * Dermatologist Tested - Hypoallergenic - Non-Comedogenic. When I sprayed the product from the aerosol can onto my hand I really did not like the texture. It looked like bubbly milk and smelled weird. I applied it on my face and found it difficult to blend as well. Once I completed the application I was not left with a velvety skin surface like primers are supposed to do, and also my skin still looked visibly oily in certain places. I applied my makeup as usual, and found that it wore off through the day as if I had not applied any type of primer whatsoever. In addition for those with sensitive skin, you may find that this product may also sting as well. Thus, this was not what I expected it to be and nope I will not be buying it again. I will continue to stick with my MAC Prep + Prime as my primer of choice! Rating Price: $7.99 @ drugstores Quality: 1 out of 5 Selection: 1 out of 5 Packaging: 1 out of 5 Desired Result: 1 out of 5 Overall Rating: 1 SMOOCH Would I buy this again?: Nope
