Gentle Retinol Serum

A little background on my skin: I'm 43 years old with minimal sun damage, fine lines and one deep crease from side sleeping, skin tone is a bit uneven, and highly reactive to some chemicals and most fragrances. I received a three-week sample of this serum and eager to try a gentle retinol product. The pump is opaque, and twists open and close. It is important to twist close and keep the pump standing upright on a flat surface. Otherwise, it may not pump correctly. (It would be nice packaging if you can see the product and be able to open packaging to get out every last drop.) The serum itself is thicker than most serums, but not quite gel-like. It feels more like oil. Because of its consistency, you don't need much product and it spreads easily and evenly. However, you will need to massage into to the skin because it tends to sit on top. The serum itself works great! Because it was a sample, I didn't waste time spot-testing. I jumped right in for a full facial application. After three weeks, no irritation, skin tone is more even, fine lines still exist but the deep crease isn't as noticable. My skin also feels a bit plumper. The bottom line is that nothing works miracles overnight and everyone knows the benefits of Retinol. Paula's Choice offers a gentle, effective Retinol product that does NOT irritate the skin. I will definitely recommend this product friends and family.

CoverGirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation

Not for reactive/sensitive skin

The first thing I noticed about this product was the scent. It reminded me of grade school art class: chemical smell, but not horrible. The foundation applied easily and had a medium, buildable coverage that lasted all day without changing color. The drawback: not recommended for sensitive/reactive skin. My fair, reactive skin had a terrible reaction to the makeup. If it wasn't for the reaction, I probably would have stuck with it.
