  • Dove Pro-Age Cream Oil Body Lotion

I get occasional bouts of excema on my hands and this lotion has made them go away! I was using the thickest, creamiest, richest creams I could find until I tried a sample of this lotion. It cleared up my excema in two or three days!! It really does CHANGE your skin, not just temporarily moisture it! My boyfriend never moisturizes, and his knuckles were always rough, white, and dry. I made him use this daily and now his knuckles are smooth! I have never tried a lotion that works so well at changing the skin for the better. It really does work, and I will never be without a bottle or two in my home! Also, I enjoy the scent. It absorbs into the skin almost on contact and you can feel drastic results immediately after. Only very slight residue left behind. This is as close to perfect as possible, I think. The only thing I would ask for is maybe a little light-reflecting ingredients for a nice glow, and perhaps a few more SPF's.

  • Aveeno Positively Smooth Shave Gel

    Aveeno Positively Smooth Shave Gel

I hate shaving more than most people. No, really, I do.

Ever since the Schick Intuition razor came out a few years ago, I have been into using that and similar razors (most recently the Venus Breeze) to take the shaving process down to as few steps as possible. I heard about this shave gel and decided to try it. I was hesitant because back when I used shave gel, I was limited to Skintimate and the like, which are all pretty much the same degree of suckiness. This gel is different!! You can tell the difference as soon as you apply it; it just somehow feels more luxurious - as if I paid $40 for it in some fancy schmancy salon. It provided the closest (and easiest) shave I think I've ever gotten, and afterward, I didn't even need to apply lotion! It also has a DIVINE scent - sort of pineappley, but not overly fake and cheap like you'd expect. It has a lovely scent, which helps make the whole process a bit more enjoyable. When you do a stroke with the razor (I use the Venus Embrace), nearly all traces of the gel are gone, but it leaves the skin so soft that another swipe of the razor is as smooth as the first. This works well on legs & arms, but on the bikini area, I find it not 'soapy' enough. You generally have to do a few more passes with the razor in that area, and this means you have to re-apply this gel several times. I still prefer the Venus Breeze or Schick Intuition in that area. As for its claims of lessening hair growth, this is unfounded where I'm concerned. No matter - I'll let it slide because of the superior product in general. ;)

  • DuWop Lip Venom

    DuWop Lip Venom

I don't know who loves it more: me or my boyfriend!

I absolutely love Lip Venom and will never live without it. It gives a very subtle pink color to your lips - amazing, PERFECT, as-nature-intended color, like a little girl. I happen to love the scent of it also; it is very cinnamony is a Christmasy way. It plumps my lips noticeably, and the gloss effect amplifies that, then keeps them looking fuller until the gloss wears off. The gloss does wear off fairly quickly - forget about drinking anything with this on, but that is the same with most glosses, right? The texture is great - not too sticky, or slippery. This has the added bonus of driving my boyfriend wild. He LOVES the look of it. He says it makes my lips look juicy and kissable. He now calls anything glossy that I apply, "venom", and actually gets excited when he sees me applying the real venom. Of course, he has to suffer through it because I'm not willing to mess it up and have to re-apply it. ;)

    Simply not worth it

The bottom line is that this mascara is too expensive for the results it provides. It is good for lengthening if applied correctly, but does little for volume. I usually follow it up with a Dior Show or Cover Girl Lash Blast chaser to add some volume. It is picky with application, which means it's not for those who haven't quite mastered the art of perfect application. If you don't apply it just so, it will clump. It is also annoyingly prone to transferring to eyelids and undereye areas. For some reason, it got better after a few uses. I hated it at first. Now I like it, but I would never buy it again. There are other mascaras that deliver more for less, like the others I mentioned in this review!

  • Aveeno Essential Moisture Lip Conditioner with SPF 15

I have normal lips that get very slightly dry a few times a week. I keep lip balm on them most of the time. This moisturizer is slightly waxy and it often make my lips feel gunky - which is the only way to describe it. Even if I put it on soft, exfoliated lips, I end up having to use a rough paper towel or cloth to wipe the balm off my lips after a while because I end up with a 'gunky' waxy build up with dead skin cells off my lips mixed in. It's icky to put it best. A very good aspect of this moisturizer is that it lasts and lasts and lasts. The is probably why I get the gunky build up. It goes on smooth and minimally waxy, but never really feels like it sinks in. After a couple of months, it hasn't improved the condition of my lips or lessened the episodes of dryness.

St. Ives Fresh Skin Apricot Scrub

I always come back to this scrub!

I am always in search of the best, will-use-forever products. I'm not sure why I stop buying this scrub, but I always come back to it! I think I just can't wrap my head around something being so cheap and so simple being so great! I always look for better, but have never found it. This scrub has rough granules, but you honestly can barely feel them on your skin. The point of a scrub is to remove dull skin and reveal healthy new skin. If you are hurting your skin and causing permanent damage it is because you are damaging that new healthy skin. You can use this every day, IF NEEDED! It is probably not necessary after the first week of use. You could get away with 1-3x a week after that. This scrub has a mild, medical scent that is neither pleasant or unpleasant to my sense of smell. It also leaves my skin refreshed and not tight like typical face washes. I don't feel like I need to immediately apply moisturizer after using this, which is ironic when you consider that it is supposedly more harsh and uh, 'scrubby' than normal face washes!

    Crest Whitestrips Premium

    Oooo pretty, but OUCH!!

The bottom line is that these work, but they make my teeth very sensitive. So sensitive that I would have to sleep with my mouth open because they were constantly throbbing and sharp pains were shoothing through them. This is with normal, as suggested use! And I did not have any gum disease or tooth sensitivity before using these. I was surprised by how sensitive my normally strong & healthy teeth became. They DO make your teeth noticeably whiter, but it's just not worth it. Save up the $300 and get your teeth professionally whitened! Not only will it NOT HURT, but it will last a lot longer and be a lot quicker.

  • CoverGirl LashBlast Volume Waterproof Mascara

    CoverGirl LashBlast Volume Waterproof Mascara

This is the best mascara I've ever used!

I have tried other 'breakthrough' mascaras from CG before and have always been disappointed. I wasn't sure I'd like this one either, and was perfectly happy using my usual mascara: Diorshow. When I was getting low on Diorshow, I decided to pick up some Lashblast while getting groceries. OMG! This mascara does NOT disappoint! My lashes were longer in a couple swoops than I've ever seen them. They were defined and voluminous as well. The brush does not bother me, but I can foresee it being a problem with people with eyes on the smaller side. I have one tip in regards to applying this mascara: do not put it all the way at the bottom of your lashes, near the eyelid. It will cause your lashes to droop instead of being up and curled. I kept wondering why it would look great until it dried, and finally figured out that it was just too heavy if applied at the very base of the lashes. I also find that this mascara is resistant to clumping and flaking. I put on bonus coats through-out the day, just for a 'lift', and it makes them look better each time, while still managing not to look overly done up. I love this mascara!! The formula is a little thin and takes a bit longer to dry than other mascaras I've used. It also transfers easily to eyelids, so be careful! I think everyone out there should at least give this mascara a shot!! In the name of flirty, batting eyelashes everywhere! :)

  • Dior Diorshow Mascara

    Dior Diorshow Mascara

It trains your lashes to be on their best behavior!

I have heard all of the raves about this product just like everyone else has. When I finally tried it, I wasn't really impressed. BUT, I learned something that soon made me a believer: it trains your lashes! See, I don't wear make-up that often. I don't work and only really wear it on the weekends and maybe a couple times during the week when I run errands, but not always. My lashes are short and applying mascara just makes them fall flat. Then I noticed that the more frequently I used this mascara, the more my lashes behaved! If I wore it every day, or every other day, my lashes would actually curl up and look longer than when I went days without applying it. The thing about Diorshow mascara is that you can layer it without it looking layered or clumping. It's not that you need to, but I think that is why so many people see it perform so well and others don't. It's not THE mascara (at least I hope not because I'd like a little more), but it's definitely one to keep on hand while you're searching. I honestly think it gets better the more I use it! The wand is a nice size and the bristly part is fat. It's harder to get lower lashes without touching skin, but not annoyingly so. I would recommend this mascara to my closest friends. I think it's a benefit to any face!
