St. Ives Fresh Skin Apricot Scrub

Time To Lay It Down Gently

Hmm, it seems like the Gentle version of this scrub is not posted on this site :( Ah well, the Gentle version is still a type of Apricot Scrub, so I'll post my review here. First off, no. Simple. The Gentle formula smells like cat vomit. It does nothing for my skin except leave it with a wierd texture. If I ever stop using Angels On Bare Skin, then I will get the Apricot Scrub made for all skin types. Please guys, don't buy the Gentle version, just don't. It doesn't even make a good body scrub (since I can't use it on my face) I can't even give it two stars for smell (the 1 star goes towards price)

    Don't Be So Sensitive!

Well my fellow beauty addicts (you know who you are ;D), I am sad to say that I have to post a bad review :( I was reading a very interesting book on dermatology called Acne For Dummies. I do not have acne, however the book says that all you need to clean your face is Ivory soap for oily skin and Dove soap for dry skin. I have the latter, so I figured I would be extra safe and use the one for sensitive skin. Bad news, it was great for the first 3 days but then I started experiencing dryer skin and pimples! Not good, so bad review time. Still on the hunt for the one as far as cleansers for dry skin.

    Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser

Excuse Me While I Wash My Skin Off

I have always had dry skin (even when I was a baby). I heard so many things about Cetaphil through magazines, friends and review boards. I declared greedily to my mom that it "MUST be mine!" Looking slightly afraid of me, she drove to Wal-Mart. The frist thing I noticed was the price. Wow Nelly! I was expecting $8, but it was nearly $20! Not to be discouraged, I read the whole bottle and gladly skipped to the check-out (which was when my mom started pretending she didn't know me). To my house I ran, so happy that I finally had the bottle which I was positive contained THE miracle cleanser. Forgetting that I had already washed my face an hour prior, I used this with such excitement that I think the neighbours stared strangely at me through the window. After washing it off, I put on my moisturizer and looked up at my skin. AHH! It was red, blotchy and immediately started to itch. It seriously would not stop. Thinking it was probably allergies, I used it that evening. I woke up with a combination of rash and new pimples. Joy. I have tried on other occassions to use it again and the results are always the same. Gosh, I don't think a good cleanser is in the near future for me.

    Mary Kay Velocity Facial Cleanser

Ahh, The Bittersweet Memories Of Growing Up

This and it's counterpart moisturizer were the first things I ever used on my skin (when I was 13). Back then, I thought it was amazing and liked it a lot. I moved onto other things because I was so curious. I came across some at a friend's house and exclaimed in surprise. After begrudgingly agreeing to let me use it, I washed my face and followed with the moisturizer. Big mistake. This was sooo horrible on my dry skin and was probably responsible for it's current state thanks to use when I was naive. Irritating and perfumey, never again.

  • Noxzema Continuous Clean Clay Mask

    Noxzema Continuous Clean Clay Mask

    Your Looking Rather Ghostly Today

I used this mask because I saw it REALLY cheap and I have a love of Noxzema (although I am hesitant to try their cleansing cream again). Anyways, I smoothed it on my face and sat back for a bit. Unfortunately, the smell was the exact same as a Dollarama cream I recieved from someone I hated. I was glad when 5 minutes were up to say the least and had debated putting essential oils under my nose (so I wouldn't have to smell this mask). I washed my face and felt that it was very smooth before I looked up at the mirror. When I got around to gazing at my reflection, however, I stood there for 2 minutes in awe. I washed the product off well, but my skin looked gray, dull and dead. I cannot believe it :O Only an extra star for the price, this will never go on my face again.

    Neutrogena Extra Gentle Cleanser

Cetaphil's Nicer Cousin Has An Evil Side

Why do all these uber-gentle cleansers dry out my skin? First Cetaphil and now this. I must be a freak because a lot of people seem to like both of these cleansers. It is unscented, non lathering and feels like thin cold cream. This I do not mind. The dry, tight, stinging mass which is my face I do mind. It's a no-go, sorry guys.

  • Herbal Essences Hydralicious Featherweight Conditioner

Today's lesson is, don't buy products that have no reviews :D This did not do a lot to my hair at all. I guess it's ok for $3.00 but I was looking forward to using it because Herbal Essences can usually keep my fine but VERY frizzy hair tamed. Not in this case unfortunately. Ah well, onto others. One star for smell ^.^

  • Herbal Essences Hydralicious Featherweight Shampoo

Smells so good, looks so pretty, lathers so richly and is so cheap! Why could this product not work? I bought it (and the conditioner of course) at Wal-Mart for $3.00 each, tax included. I counted down the seconds until I could jump in the shower. The experience was amazing and I was excited beyond belief. I always air dry my hair, so I occupied myself and savoured the moment I would look into the mirror with my amazingly soft hair. Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath. One peek, two peeks and a groan of anguish. This made my hair turn into it's naturally frizzie state (which can only be tamed by the right products). No go, I am sad to say :( 3 stars for the showering ecstacy though.

  • Aveeno Ultra Calming Foaming Cleanser

Ouh, this stuffs burns :( It makes my skin sooo dry and itchy. I keep trying to use it but everytime I do, one application scares me away for a while. My skin isn't overly sensitive either. Hmm, still on the look out. So happy this works for you guys ^.^

    Lush The Blonde

    SSSS (Super Slippery Soild Shiner)

The Blonde. Sounds dramatic right? The results that you get from this bar of shampoo are more on the subtle side. Having faint natural highlights that are reminants of summers gone by, this worked (works) well for me. To use this slippery bar, I took the whole chunk, passed it through the top and sides of my soaking wet hair, put it back in the container (a plastic one for soup) and then rinsed it out. The results were hair that was soft in a way that is not what we are used to. After a couple of uses, voila! Slightly lighter hair that readily absorbs conditioner. It can be slightly drying, but your hair is shiny and feels great. Be careful though guys, it melts O:
