I'm always looking for great sheer lipcolors, but many brands deliver colors that are too intense. Paula Dorf's "Baby Doll" is so close to my natural lipcolor, but enhances it. I found this lipstick to go on moist and not leave my lips dry after daylong wear.

I was never a bronzer fan (I'm very fair-skinned, and bronzers I'd tried in the past always looked too orangey-brown and clownish). A couple of summers ago I got lucky at a Sephora in Las Vegas when I stumbled on Lorac's bronzer in the rosy-tawny shade that looked more like a summer blush than an actual bronzer. It is not a shade I have seen in too many other brands; most are not this subtle. And although it's shimmery, it's a quiet kind of shimmer. I wear this as a blush and browbone highlighter/shadow. It looks great all day, and transitions beautifully to evenings--just add a little more at night.

I'm a fan of products that do at least double-duty, and this tinted moisturizer doesn't disappoint. I have aging skin with the many small imperfections that come with--let's see, what shall we call it?--"maturity" (!!) However, I prefer a natural look, and find that this product works well for me not only as a non-oily tinted moisturizer, but also as a sunscreen and a sheer to light foundation. For the areas that need a little extra help, I dab on a tiny amount of concealer and sometimes finish w/a light touch of powder. I love that this product has the extra oomph and coverage that many of its competitors don't.

I love this set. Smashbox eye pencils are creamy and apply smoothly without tugging, and the colors in this collection are gorgeous without being over-the-top. I'm a fan of SLIGHTLY shimmery pencils (the hardcore metallic look on my 50+ face is painful to behold). These are subtle, and can also be smudged for a softer focus.

This balm is colorless, and doubles beautifully as a clear lipgloss. I've always preferred balms and lipglosses in the no-mess, easy-to-apply stick form. When I discovered this product, it was instant love! A long-time fan of natural-looking cosmetics, this is a great take-everywhere balm that I use all day, alone or on top of lipstick for extra shine. When I restock, I'll probably buy several--for work, for my purse, and for home use. It's a little pricey for a balm, but well worth it.

If you appreciate the natural look, like sheer to semi-sheer color, and aren't a fan of overpoweringly "perfumey" lipcolor, this lipstick fits the bill. Although sheer lipcolor generally requires frequent reapplication, this lipstick isn't drying like so many (hence the "balm" factor, I guess). This product has a subtle shine and comes in several shades that closely match my natural lipcolor, but improve on it. My favorite is "Fawn Nestle," a pretty tawny mauve shade.
