  • Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer

I've tried many different concealers for my zombie-like dark circles, and this is one of the few that actually covers them. It also covers the dark spots, both hormonal and acne, quite well as long as you don't use too much. I like that it's a cream, and I especially like the fact that it doesn't contain parabens. However, I have to take off a star because, primer or not, warming or not, it does settle into the fine lines under my eyes. (Maybe it's because I have oily skin?) I take off another star because it's much too pricey for something made in China.

    Tisserand Organic Tea Tree Soap

Leaves Sensitive Skin Soothed and Moisturized

So my skin was acting up again lately. (Acne, clogged pores, seborrheic dermatitis... just a mess!) When that happens, the cleansers I normally use end up being just a little too harsh. I don't remember where I got a hold of one of these Tisserand bar (actually round) soaps, but decided to try it. Finally! Something that not only did not irritate, did not make the acne worse, and best of all, it left my skin (including my hands!) so moisturized and soothed! It has almost no scent and a little bit goes a long way. I highly recommend trying it if you have sensitive, acne-prone or just highly reactive skin.

  • Almay Smart Shade Concealer
    4.0

    Almay Smart Shade Concealer

    Good for touch-ups only

This is not my regular concealer, but I needed something to throw in my purse for those "oily" or hot, humid days when my makeup tends to migrate. By itself, it does not cover my dark circles nor my acne marks. It's too light (both in color and consistency). However, it's OK for touch-ups (followed by a mineral powder) during the day.

    Erno Laszlo pHormula No. 3 - 9

Too Expensive for Something Not So Special

I got this in the mail unexpectedly as a magazine prize! It's very moisturizing and the moisture is long lasting, but I can only recommend it if your skin is dry or have dry areas (and have plenty of $$$). I have T-zone oiliness, so it actually caused a pimple on my chin. It's wonderful over a serum (or argan oil!) around the eye area. (It's also nice around the cuticles.) But $245? Yeah... um, no.

  • Olay ProX Advanced Cleansing System
    10.0

    Olay ProX Advanced Cleansing System

    Excellent Even for Super-Sensitive Skin

Yes... SUPER-sensitive. I suffer from both seborrheic dermatitis (a type of eczema) and cystic acne. I don't use harsh scrubs. (I didn't really care for the Olay scrub that came with the brush, either.) However, the brush itself is very effective on my oily, acne-prone skin. The seborrhea has been acting up lately (red, itchy, flaky, itchy, inflamed, itchy!...). I use this with Philosophy Purity or CeraVe (but you can use just about any cleanser). It does not irritate my skin, even on the high speed. Not only does my skin feel smoother and cleaner, the "potions" I use afterward seem to work better. I highly recommend it!

  • CeraVe AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion with Sunscreen

This is the only moisturizer with SPF 30 that doesn't feel heavy on my oily skin, doesn't irritate/break me out, doesn't make my skin ashy and actually moisturizes! I thought I found my "holy grail" of sunscreens, but... it doesn't get along well with certain other products (like my Neutrogena Acne-Stress Gel or my BB Cream or my makeup primer). I think it could be the silicones in the other products that make this CeraVe AM moisturizer ball and flake horribly! I could do without the BB creams and primers, but I can't do without my anti-acne gel. So sad! *8(

  • CoverGirl LashBlast 24 Hour Mascara

The four stars are for the fact that I don't have a problem with it smudging. It actually does last all day, even through itchy, watery, allergy eyes. However, it is so hard to get it off. I tried face wash, regular face wipes, eye makeup wipes, oils, and I still have flakes around my eyes the next morning! Maybe I should try a vacuum cleaner...

  • It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye

It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye

    Really good, but not perfect

I've had severe dark circles since I was a little kid (due to allergies). I have been using CoverBlend for several years and really like it, but it seems that with age and a few lines under the eyes, it doesn't cover as well as it used to without a good primer. So now it's beginning to settle in those lines. This Bye Bye Undereye claims it doesn't. If I use just a teeny tiny bit, it doesn't really settle in the lines, but it doesn't cover very well, either. If I use a little more to cover the circles, then, yes, it does settle into the lines. I tried many different techniques with it, with or without the brush (which BTW broke after just three uses), with or without moisturizer, with or without primer, with or without a finishing powder... still the same effect. The best thing about it, though, is that the tan (slightly orange-y) color works well for me. (With the CoverBlend, I need to buy two colors and mix them.) It's one of the best ones I've used so far, but it seems there's nothing perfect out there...

  • Neutrogena Ageless Intensives Anti-Wrinkle Deep Wrinkle Serum

So I won one of these! I can't give it 10 stars, though because, even though I'm 48, I don't have any deep wrinkles, so I don't know if it actually works for those or not. I'm hopeful, though, that I can fend them off for a while with this stuff. My skin is actually quite oily and I'm (still!) acne-prone. I also have seborrhea, so I was afraid of using this on my extremely sensitive skin. But I did use it, and I have been for about 6 months now, without any irritation. My skin has never been so smooth and clear and surprisingly, the blotchiness and past acne marks have lightened considerably. I don't use nearly as much concealer as I used to. Oh, and the few lines on my forehead and around my eyes are barely noticeable anymore. After I used up my prize, I went out and bought another one. This one is definitely a keeper (assuming Neutrogena doesn't discontinue it or reformulate it...)!

  • Tarte Maracuja Oil

    Tarte Maracuja Oil

Can be used on oily acne-prone skin!

I, too, received this as a gift, but was afraid of using it because of my already oily, acne-prone, big-pore skin. So, I tried 2-3 drops one night and was surprised at how light it was and how easily it absorbed into my skin. The next morning, my skin was smooth and dewey, but not greasy. I've been mixing 1-2 drops with a retinol serum at night. Although my old acne marks have pretty much disappeared after about 3-4 months, my blotchiness really hasn't. (But then I have hereditary freckles and blotchiness, so even with a daily sunscreen, I don't expect them to lighten much or disappear completely. I also use it as an ingredient in my DIY witch hazel / aloe face toner and my whipped shea butter for my hands and elbows.) This is the best moisturizer I have used that doesn't break me out.
