I've used only one shade - Salsa, but it's the only one I do use. I apply it with lipstick brush though. It seems nice but I can't tell why it's so expensive. I mean I couldn't tell why it costs nearly as much as a Clinique lipstick (which seem to apply so well and always so moisturizing) Definitely a stepup from drugstore lipsticks though.

Studio Gear is expensive no doubt, but the powder is really good. I apply it with the SG kabuki brush. I've used it over a primer and by itself as well. One thing though, if you have a dry skin, definitely use a light moisturizer.

I'm a fan of Studio Gear makeup and brushes. The brushes especially are good for someone with dry sensitive skin as I have. This one is no exception. I guess they are expensive, but if you're careful, will last a while. One thing with brushes though is you have to clean them regularly otherwise you can get bad allergies, breakouts etc.

This is a great quality brush and worth the price. If you buy just a few things for your makeup bag and are looking for quality, then I'd recommend this highly. I only recently discovered Studio Gear and have liked everything I tried. The brushes especially have been awesome. I have dry sensitive skin and tend to break out really easily and I have not had a problem with this brush even though I've used it every day. It has natural hair and has a very dense flat construction. The foundation goes on really smooth, and if you use light brush strokes, you may not even need an applicator sponge to smoothen things out. One thing I do religiously though, is clean it after each use with a makeup brush cleaning fluid (Ulta carries many brands - I use Smashbox approx. $15), and then every two weeks clean it with soft liquid soap and water. The sales person warned me not to swirl these brushes in water but instead use a downward motion to clean them. It seems to work because the brush didn't 'shed'.

It's expensive but worth the money - the bottle is designed so you get the last drop of primer out. I was pleasantly surprised that the 1 oz bottle lasted over 4 months. Or maybe I just use less than most people. And the pump did not break, which seems to be a common problem with other similarly priced brands. I know you're supposed to put it on first, but I mix two pumps of primer directly with my (Studio Gear) foundation and it works well for me. Honestly, the price is the only negative because the quality kicks butt!

I have really sensitive dry skin and was looking for a good kabuki. I agonized over spending $50 on a single brush and had never even heard of Studio Gear. I actually went and tried every single powder brush in the Ulta store, and nothing came even close to this one. This kabuki brush is so soft and has fantastic coverage, it's totally worth every penny and I think I've recovered the cost anyway, considering how much I've used it.
