  • Clairol Professional Repair Daily Shampoo

I received a sample of this from Total Beauty. I was excited, as it is designed for the exact type of hair I have: dry and damaged. My hair is fairly fine, but I have a lot of it. I have had it dark, light, red and everything in between. I've had it highlighted for the last several months and recently received a straightening treatment that dried my hair out very much. So, in all fairness, I did start off with hair that needed some help. The formula of this shampoo is very creamy and it lathers a decent amount, but not overly so. However, upon rinsing, my hair felt very dry and brittle. I had to soak it with conditioner afterward to comb through. I think the fact that it contains two harsh sulfates has something to do with this. It seems to me that a shampoo designed to repair should contain gentler ingredients. All-in-all, it's a decent shampoo, good for people with normal to somewhat dry hair. But if you're looking for a repair for very damaged hair, I'd look elsewhere.

  • Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Pure-Castile Liquid Soap

This soap is great as a hand soap, body soap and for various cosmetic and household uses cosmetic brush cleaner, dishes, etc). It lasts forever, especially if you dilute it with water. It's light, refreshing and makes you feel clean without overly drying.

  • Clinique Sparkle Skin Body Exfoliating Cream

This scrub leaves your skin feeling smooth and refreshed, but not oily or dry. I agree with a previous reviewer who said it really "buffs" rather than scrubs. The beads are smooth and gentle, but still densely packed enough to effectively remove dry skin. I love that it isn't overly oily, so I can use it all over my body, without worrying about breakouts or extra oil. A bit expensive, but it is a large container and a little bit goes a long way.

  • Clinique Exfoliating Scrub

This is my favorite facial scrub. I'm very picky about scrubs, and am always left disappointed when the grains are so few and far between, that they don't seem to do anything for my skin. These scrubbing particles are synthetic (and rounded, as opposed to jagged ground shells/nuts) and are very densely packed. It makes my skin noticeably smoother after use. It also makes my face feel refreshed, as it has a bit of a menthol feel to it. It's on the spendy side (it's now $20 per tube), but a little goes a long way. I've even gotten my boyfriend hooked on it and now he has his very own tube in the shower. However, I could see that it might be a bit too abrasive for sensitive skin types.

    E.L.F. Powder Brush

    Great brush for the price

I really like this brush for liquid or mineral foundation application. It's soft and gives smooth, medium to full coverage. It's very dense, so picks up a lot of color. Therefore, if you're using it for blush or bronzer or want a lighter foundation application, you may need to play around with it. But it works for a variety of uses. And for $3, it's a steal! The only downside is what a previous reviewer mentioned: it's time consuming to clean. Because it is so densely packed and has a decent sized brush head, it's very difficult to get make up out of the middle part of it. This is true for any brushes of this type though. Also, it's a bit hard to reshape, as it tends to fan out in an oblong shape unless you're constantly turning it as it dries. Overall though, great value.

  • JOICO K-PAK Deep-Penetrating Reconstructor

I used to LOVE this product, but I recently purchased a bottle in new packaging and it's MUCH thinner, requires more product and doesn't make my hair nearly as soft and manageable. Not terrible, but performs about as well as your average conditioner now.
