  • Pantene Pro-V Midnight Expressions Daily Color Enhancing Shampoo

This was one of the best hair products I used; especially because I have black hair and I color my hair. My hair is thick, curly, frizzy, and I use heating tools every day. This shampoo (and I used the conditioner) left my hair soft, non-frizzy, smooth, manageable, and black. My color lasted WEEKS longer using this product. Now it says this product was discontinued. Why?!?! I didn't know because the last time it was on sale, I had coupons, too, and bought about 12 bottles of the shampoo and the conditioner. I haven't run out yet. Now I can't buy it anymore? Does anyone know of another product that is made for dyed black hair? All I can say is, if he product comes back on the market and you have hair like mine, BUY IT!!

    Nars Matte Eyeshadow

    Try at store before buying!

Sorry, I don't think this works on everyone like the article says. I have Halle Berry colored skin (which is a little darker with my summer tan). I bought this shadow and excitedly brought it home. I put it on and started laughing. I looked like a clown or a cross-dresser trying to wear makeup. I then took it off and tried to use it as an eyeliner. While this was a little better, I still decided the color just wasn't right for me and returned it to the store ( which was gracious in taking it back). No matter what this site or magazines keep trying to sell me, I think I have to stick to black, brown and gold. Maybe if I was 16 or something I could get away with it. Maybe if I was as gorgeous as Halle Berry I could get away with it. But im neither. I am anxious to read other reviews and see how others do. If you write a review, please note your hair color and skin color. My hair is black. Finally, like all Nars products, the quality of the eyeshadow is outstanding. Intense, smooth, soft, eyeshadow with excellent staying power. Not cheap, but who cares? It's excellent and you don't have to use much, so it lasts forever.

  • CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain
    1.0

    CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain

    Want dry lips? Buy it!

As someone who puts lipstick on each day and reapplies it about 20 times each day, I was desperately excited about trying a lip stain and decided CoverGirl would be a safe bet. Wrong!!! First of all, I have dry lips and use lip balm every day under my lipstick. When I put this stain on top of the lip balm, the stain came off right away. So, I ditched the lip balm and put the stain on solo. Wrong!!!! First of all, it made my lips extremely dry and shriveled. Second of all, it doesn't spread very well. I don't know if that is because of my dry lips or because of the applicator. (Plus, I couldn't even figure out how to get the stuff out of the dispenser. It was obvious I needed more to come out than what was coming out, but I couldn't make more come out.) Okay, so now it is on and "spotty." I can't get enough out to cover all of my lips and it is sticking in some spots more than others. Looks like an accident on my lips. Then, I waited a minute or two and kissed my hand to see if it would come off. It did (doesn't come off in the commercials). So I waited 5 more minutes and drank out of a glass. Again, stain came off on the glass. BUT, there was still "some" color on some parts of my lips. With regard to that "some" color, when I tried to get it off later in the day, I couldn't. You should also know you can't put lip balm or lip gloss over the stain; if you do, the stain, for the most part, comes off. I have lips (I.e., I'm not a thin lipped person). Anything on my lips is going to get attention so it has to be good. Would I use this product again? No. Would I recommend anyone buy it? No! Did I toss the one I had? Yes. Am I sorry I wasted my money? No. Life is about taking risks. :-)

  • Herbal Essences Color Me Happy Conditioner for Color-Treated Hair

Herbal Essence wins hands down for good smell. However, I have ethnic hair that is very frizzy without the right product and Herbal Essence products seem to add to the frizz. I've been told by hairdressers it's because of all the chemicals in their products. So, I'd like to say this product is great , but I can't.

  • Garnier Fructis Fortifying Cream Conditioner for Color Treated or Permed Hair

Why do they keep discontinuing items that are priced perfectly and actually work? This was a great, great product for ethnic hair.

  • Juicy Couture Eau de Parfum

I don't know how to describe the smell of this perfume. All I know is, I want to bath in it (which I do with the shower gel!). I have the shower gel, the body lotion, the au de toilette and the perfume. I shower with the shower gel, put the lotion on my legs and arms after the shower, then dab some perfume on my neck. If I decide to touch up during the day, I use the toilette; it's lighter and helps avoid overkill. The fascinating thing about this scent is that whenever I wear it, I get compliments from men and women all day, no matter where I go. In fact, when I bring clothes to my dry lcleaner, he always sniffs the clothes when I bring them in and comments on how much he loves the smell (I don't know whether to be flattered by that or grossed out...). Most of the time when I wear the perfume, I can't smell it unless I put my wrist up to my nose. However, this is not a bad thing. I think if you can smell your perfume, you have too much on. I feel this way because on the days where I can smell it, I have gotten comments from men like, "what did you do, bathe in the stuff," or "what did you do, dump the whole bottle on your head?" this isn't an overpowering scent, it is nice and light. But, it sticks and stays strong. You don't have to keep applying it during the day, and, if you use the perfume, don't spray it on yourself - spray some on your fingertip and tap it on. Finally, if you ever go to Marshall's, always check the clearance rack for perfume. I often find gift sets of the fragrance there for extremely low prices (like $30.00!). If you haven't tried the fragrance yet, go to your perfume store, spray some on your wrist, and smell it off and on for the rest of the day. I think fragrances adjust to your body and get their smell unique to you, as time goes by. I strongly suggest this fragrance!

  • Crest 3D White Luxe Professional Effects Whitestrips Teeth Whitening Kit

Crest White Strips are part of my everyday beauty regime.  Doesn't matter how good your makeup and hair looks if your teeth aren't clean and bright. When I get to the sink in the morning, I immediately apply my Crest White Strips and leave them on for 20 minutes while I'm getting ready. (Some versions of the Strips require longer time to stay on,)  like the 3D or other expensive versions.)  These are cheaper (using coupons found in the Sunday papers and only buying the Strips when they are on sale. The coupons run between $5 and $7 - that's awesome savings). WARNING!  I know that I have sensitive teeth (I use Sensodyne toothpaste) and if I use the strips properly, I don’t have any problems.  However, if I leave the strips on for more than 20 minutes my teeth are in extreme pain and the pain lasts for the entire day.  The pain is only on the bottom of my top teeth and the top of my bottom teeth (when you put the strips on, part goes on the front of your teeth and then you fold the extra part under the bottom/top of your teeth and behind your teeth).  The only way I can get rid of the pain is with the use of Anbesol.  Now, I have friends with “normal” teeth who have left the Strips on for too long and have also gotten tooth pain.  So, I’m not sure if it matters whether or not you have sensitive teeth.  I think it matters that you use the product the way it tells you to use it.  To avoid problems I do the following: 1) set the alarm of the radio in my bathroom to make sure I don’t go over.  2) When I take the Strips off, I make sure I brush my teeth and especially pay attention to the top and bottom of the teeth.  That said, you shouldn’t leave home without them! I get comments every day about how white my teeth are or how beautiful my smile is. I have to give credit to my Crest Strips.

  • Maybelline New York Lash Discovery Mini-Brush Waterproof Mascara

My eyes tear up on a regular basis all day and I have sensitive eyes.  Therefore, it is imperative I have a bottom lash mascara that, 1) is waterproof; 2) really, really stays on; 3) doesn’t create “raccoon eyes;” and 4) doesn’t irritate my eyes (that is especially important since I often commit the cardinal sin of falling asleep at night before I removing my mascara – or any makeup for that matter!).  Maybelline Mini-Brush Waterproof Mascara gives me exactly what I want and need.  I only apply Maybelline to my lower lashes because I use a Lancôme lash-building product (“Hypnose Drama”) for the top eyelashes (I don’t want my bottom lashes to have “drama” with globs of mascara on them - like the late Tammy Faye Baker’s lashes…).  Before using the Maybelline mascara, I apply Lancôme’s oscillating lash primer.  I find it makes ANY mascara hold better and it allows me to get good color on the lashes without applying a lot of mascara.  This is the only Maybelline mascara product I have ever used that does exactly what its advertisement says.  It stays on, does not run, provides good color, comes off easily, does not irritate my eyes, is extremely cheap (I usually pay about $2.00 for the mascara when I buy it on sale at CVS and use the Sunday paper $1.00 coupons), is easy to use, doesn’t take up a lot of space in the makeup drawer, and lasts a long time.  Another plus for this mascara is the “mini” round brush and its short bristles.  It’s so awesome to have this type of brush for lower lashes that are very fine and short.  However, this mascara is also good to use for the top lashes closest to your nose.  These lashes are usually pretty fine and short, too.  With bigger brushes, you run the chance of getting mascara on your nose or other parts of your eye when trying to apply mascara to this inside area.  (And we all know how that kind of error can really throw off the completion time for your eye makeup application.)  If you have never tried this product you don’t know what you are missing!

  • Make Up For Ever Sens'Eyes Waterproof Sensitive Eye Cleanser

Make Up For Ever Sens’Eyes” lotion is my favorite eye makeup remover product.  I have sensitive eyes and I wear black, waterproof mascara, dark eye shadow, and black eyeliner.  I need something with a lot of power to get the eye makeup off, as well as something that won’t sting my eyes.  (Every other product I have used, except for Almay Oil Free Makeup Remover Pads, makes my eyes sting and I have to use an eyewash glass with water, followed by eye drops to stop the stinging.)  Sens’Eyes has the power and doesn’t bother my eyes at all – even if I get some in my eyes.  To use Sens’Eyes, I do one of two things: 1) gently rub the lotion over my eyes in a circular motion (with extra attention to my eyelashes) and gently wipe it off with a damp face cloth, or 2) gently rub the lotion over my eyes and wipe it off with an Almay Oil Free Makeup Remover pad.  You don’t have to rub hard (and you shouldn’t.  Rubbing hard will damage the delicate skin around the eye area and you’ll end up needing a plastic surgeon somewhere down the line to fix the wrinkles around your eyes…).  I don’t like to put the lotion on a pad or cotton ball and put it near my eyes because when I do, I usually get a piece of lint in my eye and it becomes a 10-minute battle to find it and get it out.  That’s why I use the Almay pads along with Sens’Eyes.  This is an awesome product.  It is not cheap, but it doesn’t matter – a little goes a long way.  The only place I know to buy it, other than going online, is at my favorite hangout, Sephora.  And while you are there, check out some of their other eye products.  They have it all and everything is good.

  • Almay Oil Free Gentle Eye Makeup Remover Pads

Almay Oil-Free Makeup Remover pads are one of my favorite eye makeup remover products.  I have sensitive eyes and I wear waterproof mascara, dark eye shadow, and dark eyeliner.  I need something with power to get the makeup off…and Almay comes through – somewhat.  First of all, users need to write the company and ask them why we often buy this product and the pads are bone dry when you first open the package (which is vacuum sealed), until you get to the bottom quarter inch of pads.  I usually have to run water in the container and then shake it up to get moistness on the pads.  That’s ridiculous and shouldn’t be.  That said…once the pads are wet, the best thing to do (as another reviewer stated) is hold the pad on your eye for a minute (focus on pressing against your eyelashes) and then wipe your eyes in a gentle, circular motion.  It usually takes me about 4 pads to finish both eyes.  In the end, I do have traces of mascara left.  I don’t care though.  I could probably get it off if I rubbed my eyes really hard, but that is terrible for the delicate skin around the eye area and helps prevent breakage of your eyelashes.  (If you don’t listen to that advice, you had better save money for a plastic surgeon to fix your eyes later on…)  However, I just wait until the morning and run a pad over each eye again and it’s gone.  If you would rather not wait until the morning to remove the remaining mascara, you could do as I do sometimes – put a dab of “Make Up For Ever Sens’Eyes” lotion on the pad before you start the wiping.  That product is awesome.  (I just don’t like to put lotion on a pad or cotton ball and put it near my eyes.  9½ times out of 10 I get a piece of lint in my eye and it becomes a 10-minute battle to find it and get it out.  Although you could put the Sens’Eyes lotion directly on your eyes and use a face cloth to get it off…)
