Oily,wrinkled old skin.

Thanks for getting back! First of all, I think you're being a little hard on yourself. At your age, I doubt that your skin looks at all as bad as you think it does. What I would recommend is Neutrogena's Rapid Wrinkle Repair Moisturizer (and their accompanying Rapid Wrinkle Repair Cream for Eyes). Oil and moisture are NOT the same thing. This is a very lightweight formula which won't leave you greasy (seeps into skin quite quickly). The Retinol included caused my skin to flake (actually a good thing, as you want to encourage cell turnover). Simply exfoliate gently at least once a week. I do believe this will help rid you of wrinkles while controlling oil. Neutrogena includes an SPF factor of 30. As you've heard a million times, the sun is your skin's worst enemy, even in the winter. Be sure you're eating healthily and taking a strong multi-vitamin. Many creams include Vitamin C or COQ10. Why not take them instead? This way you start taking care of your skin from the inside out! Last but not least--drink as much water as you can possibly handle. Water plumps skin cells, clears impurities from your system, and will help your overall appearance and health. If there's anything else I can help you with, please let me know!

Re: What is best

I'm afraid you need to provide more details and specifics in order to make suggestions. Please write back with the following information: 1. Your age 2. Skin type 3. Aging skin concerns/problems 4. Allergies

I have found Kiehl's carries a great line of quality products that address your concerns of oily skin, wrinkles blemishes and allergies. I apologize for not quite understanding your question when I responded earlier. You did have the information. Anyway, that being said, please find a department store near you that sells Kiehl's. It's a good idea to talk with the expert who sells the products to make recommendations for product(s) that will help you. I have been very satisfied with the extent of the product knowledge my Kiehl's advisor has. We discussed my needs, and I picked a night cream for wrinkles, wrinkle tightener, and a serum. They have products that will not contribute to oiliness on your face. I discovered that the drugstore brands, Olay, L'Oreal, Garnier are NOT quality products. You get what you pay for. Also, any retinol in a drugstore brand is negligible. To be effective, you actually need the prescription version. (I learned this while getting my degree in Cosmetology.) Also, never wear retinol during the day. Because retinol sloughs the top layer of skin, new skin is exposed. If you went outside, you face danger of damaging the new skin. It is intended for night time use only. There are many products on the market that claim to have retinol that can be used during the day. This is pure folly. Please stay away from them. I hope this helps, and good luck! Carole
