Hey everyone!
I'm trying to start a new gym routine - something that will keep me going and more...
What are most people into now? Is it still the good-old treadmill? Or, the new trendy bootcamp classes? What is it that gets you moving and burning calories?

8 RepliesIt helps to go at the same day & time, or if doing this at home, work out at the same day & time. It gets me into the habit or routine. The hardest part for me is sticking to it! Seems easier once I at least CHANGE into my gym clothes. Then, getting out the door!!
I agree with the suggestion that doing something you like will keep you more motivated! Also, workout clothes in bright colors, as opposed to black or gray, gives me a lift!
I read a lot that muscles reach a plateau if doing the same workout each time. So, mixing it up is not only to keep you from being bored, but it makes your muscles work harder too.

Every other morning I workout for an hour starting with tae o and ending with yoga, then its off to the office. It is both relaxinng and cleansing. I am able to focus more on my job and keep my emotions in check.
I usually workout at home, I find it convient. I workout 5-6 times a week for atleast 50 min, 30 min if i feel lazy! I do cardio and weight training individually but i love to incorporate both too as interval circuit.
I use workout videos, such as insanity, tae bo, p90x, jari love, jillian michaels, kelly coffey meyer, davine, etc... this is so I can switch it up since they all offer different intensity levels.
The key is to stick to your routine and to chose sessions that you will enjoy no matter what, and allow yourself relaxation time if you feel overtrained!
My work out routine consists mainly jogging, jump rope, elliptical, and yoga. I usually alternate my work out every other day; I would go jogging for 30 mins to 1 hr depending on my mood, then jump rope for 5 mins, then stretch for cooldown. I like to do my stretching after jogging because I tend to be able to jog longer when I don't do major stretching at the beginning of my work out. On the days I don't go jogging, I do 30 mins elliptical and 45 mins (easy mode) yoga (videos I have saved on Netflix).
This work out routine is just for me though. I think it is different for everyone, especially when it comes to moods. Some people may like other work outs such as hiking, biking, swimming, etc. It's really up to the individual what they like to do, and that is what matters because what you like to do is what will keep you going. It's also nice to keep in mind that alternating workouts is a good way not to get bored. :)
I have my 9 hours job and too having study with it, so, I can't manage my time for jim, what should I do?
The key to sticking with it is doing something you like. I like lifting weights, I like running with my friends. So that's what I do. And I like yoga. But some people don't! There are so many kinds of fitness classes and types of gyms and at home workouts. Find an adventurous friend or two who will try different classes with you. Or meet up with some friends for a weekend run. And mixing it up helps keep me from burning out too.
I struggle with cardio so it took me a while to find something I like, which is the bike, so I pretty much stick with that for cardio, but i switch up everything else. I love yoga and pilates, zumba is fun. I have a few strength training videos I love. I also like to do kickboxing from time to time. My favorite is the games for the wii. I have about 7 different games I switch up and use all the time so my workout is always different, even though I'm at home. I've found the wii games to be one of the biggest motivators for me. I love that it keeps my routine fresh!
Yes I do. I do cardio routine like running, jumpin jacks and squatras then resistance training and weight training after cardio. I also cool down with either a 5-minute run on treadmill or yoga. I've also tried variety of cardio dance work-outs such as bellydancing, zumba, taebo and aerodance.. All of them are really good particularly if you have good instructors who can realy dance. Don't be afraid to try new things and find the one that best suits you. It's gonna be fun, trust me!
