I used to have moderate acne & tried tons of products to help with it but honestly, what worked for me was right outside in the garden: plain old aloe. You just need to cut off a leaf & you can either peel the outer layer off and rub it on your face or use a food processor to mash the leaf up. Apply it to your face every night before bed & store the unused portions in the fridge. The next morning you just rinse it off with cool water. It doesn't get rid of acne over night or anything (but it kill the redness by the next morning) but after a week or two I hardly had any acne & it also seems to prevent furture break-outs. And just for added bonuses: it helps control oil, moisturizes dry spots, & evened out my skin tone (not drastic, but noticable). I also had a friend who would use aloe to help fight off fine lines & tighten skin but I'm only 21 so I can't really attest to how well it works as an anti-aging agent. Unfortunately, it didn't completely help with erasing acne scars so if you need that as well I hear retinol works well.
I love using honey and aloe Vera!

Seriously! Pillow cases get naaaasty real fast.
im gonna start doing that every night from now on. starting tonight
I use to use a face wash with Salicylic Acid and then Neutrogena's On The Spot cream 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide. My acne was mild and it never completely cleared my face, but it made it more manageable. Other than that, it's been age. I'm entering my mid 20s and my face is clearing up on its own because my hormones are finally leveling off. One thing that has helped me, and even though I'm always saying this on here, it's tried and true--put a fresh towel over your pillowcase every night. It makes a HUGE difference in whether or not I break out; occasionally I do break out and many times it's due to being careless.
ive been using retin-a and its worked wonders. i can actually not stress anymore about a huge red zit on my chin
I have also used Thermal Cleansing Balm from Omorovicza which unclogs the pores and keep the oil production in control.
I've tried benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, Proactive, department store stuff (Clinique, etc), all sorts of drugstore stuff (too many to count), Retin A, other prescription meds, and the only thing that got my acne under control was Accutane. I still have cysts now and then, and it's gotten worse again, but Accutane really cleared up my skin for awhile.
