Retinol or AHAs?

Hi people!

I have a question about sun spots and scars. I want to get rid of my dark spots and scars, they're not that big or noticeable but I just don't like them.

My dark spots are some, especially concentrated on the area of my nose, they're tiny, more like freckles, but they're not freckles.

My main concern are the scars. They're not big at all or super noticeable, but they're there and with certain light you can see a very uneven texture of my skin and overall, my skin doesn't look so smooth. I never had acne, and when I get some pimples they end up in a dark or reddish spot not a scar. So they're not acne scars, they're much more small. So I don't know whay I have these teeny scars.

I recently jumped into natural and organic skincare but I'm not that sure if those products I'm using can help me with this problem, so I guess I have no option. I've been thinking on using AHAs and/or retinol but I'm not sure if AHAs can get rid of scars even if they're small. So, I was planning using both, not together, for the first five months, for example, the AHAs and the next months retinol. Would you think can work this way? Can the AHAs get rid of small scars? Because if they can I would choose AHAs instead of retinol. I'm a bit afraid of it.

I don't think this is a problem for a dermatologist, so what do you think?

Thanks.

Re: Retinol or AHAs?

I'm no expert, but I don't think either one will totally diminish them. I do know that retinols do target the problem at a much deeper level, and that AHAs (or BHAs) help it along, because they target problems at the skin's surface. I use Retin-A (albeit for a totally different purpose - my blackheads) and I have seen improvement in the 6-ish months I've been using it. While it doesn't sting by any means (trust me on that, I have sensitive skin), it does require exfoliation. If you choose retinols, you will need to exfoliate very often when you first use them, because your skin will peel right off on its own otherwise! Don't be afraid though: that could be exactly what you need to get rid of your spots and scars. If you don't see improvement shortly after you skin gets used to the heavy-duty retinols, I would suggest a dermatologist. Hope you find something that works!

AHA

In order to understand and correct your problem  you need to answer some questions :

How long have you had this problem, how are you taking care of it now and the last 6 mos. What nationality are you, and how old are you?

You don’t need both  Its summer time now AHA would be better . When most people start a new skin program especially a treatment program your skin is going to start working. Depending on the condition your skin is in now start slow and work your way up to a more aggressive plan. Use plenty of moisture. When considering corrective measures you will need Facial wash, Glycolic or AHA, Biokorium’s  Skin water, Biokorium’s  Waterscreen, a good Anti-ox, and for  you’re uneven texture I would suggest a Microscrub. Above all a good plan.  If you do not have a good skincare plan in place you can cause more harm than good and accelerate the aging process.     http://www.biokorium.com/

Morning or Evening: Before shower apply Just a bit of  Waterscreen This is probably the most important step to take

After shower gently dry off the face

Apply a bit of Skinwater  and a dose of Anti-oxidant ( Grapeseed, Acai, Walnu

Evening:

Facial wash

Glycolic 4 days in a row like Mon and Tuesday, Wed, Thurs when you use the Glycolic let sting for a bit DO NOT REMOVE

Apply Skinwater like a mask. When you are not using Glycolic Just apply Skinwater like a moisturizer.

Apply a bit of waterscreen after.

Treatment : Do this 1 maybe 2 times a month (No more it will dry out your skin)

Evening: Facial Wash

Microscrub 2 times

Apply a bit of Glycolic Acid to face and neck this should sting a bit .Let sting for about a min. or so

Apply a Mask of Skinwater for 20 min

Apply a bit of waterscreen
