Does anyone know a good way to firm up skin without having a face lift? My skin just hangs off my cheekbones. My eyes are starting to droop down. I have not lost weight. I get enough sleep and drink a gallon of water a day. I moisturize like crazy. I hate looking frumpy.
11 RepliesI would try taking Biotin, Vitamins, C and E to boost Collegen. I would also look at Anti Aging Products that promise firming. There are a number in various price ranges by a variety of companies. I would look for both eye and facial products. I would make sure I exfoliated well as that will help products penetrate. I would also wonder if you are a low fat or no fat diet as a little fat is necessary for good health. I personally am a bit older and my skin is pretty firm - I have been using Philosophy for some years now, the Hope in a Jar, When Hope is Not Enough Serum and the Hope in a Tube on Eyes. However, as I said there are good products in many lines. I hear good things about Neutrogena's Anti Aging which I will be trying shortly. I also have heard wonderful things about the L'Oreal Revitalift Products, the Olay Pro X, the Olay Micro Scuplting Cream. Estee Lauder's Advanced Night Repair for Face and the one for Eyes is very good as well. The key is finding products that promote firming. Hope these ideas help, and good luck.
ETA - I forgot to mention something I think is the most important. No matter what you use, use enough to do the job, too much won't do more. And do take time to not just apply the firming treatment/moisturizer. Give yourself a massage while you do so, here are some links that have some how tos. I have been doing this for years, I learned the basics in beauty school; and it is important to note the proper techniques about muscles and all or you can make your face worse. It is worth time to do it right, it is a great thing to do before bed, it is a prolonging of me time if you will.
http://www.ehow.com/facial-massage/ - lots of info here!
http://store.annabellina.com/massagemyth.html I am not endorsing this product line, although it is probably great, but the basic massage technique is good.
And getting a professional facial might be a good idea. It gets you off to a good start and is a wonderful experience. You can also feel an expert do the massage - this is a great help!
Massage and my other ideas above should help. Let me know how things go!
Just being honest here, but products, facial exercises and massages cannot possibly help with saggy skin. Collagen and elastin are protein fibers in the deeper layers of your skin. Over time they start to degenerate. The causes include excessive sun exposure, and the presence of free radicals (e.g. from diet etc.). Free radicals are unstable molecules that have lost an electron. So they scavenge other molecules in your tissue to make up for this loss.
Collagen and elastin normally does not regenerate on its own. However lasers can stimulate the formation of new collagen. The laser basically penetrates your skin to heat the dermal layer. And your skin will try to heal itself by producing new collagen fibers.
A few years ago, when Fraxel Repair just came out, the Today Show featured it on one of their segments. This laser vaporizes columns of skin so that it becomes tighter. However Fraxel Repair is not safe for all skin tones
The different types of lasers out there can be pretty overwhelming to learn about. Here is an article which sums up the major names- http://www.finetouchdermatology.com/los-angeles-laser-rejuvenation/
Also, it sounds like your face has also suffered from volume loss. You may even consider a fat transfer. But talk to your dermatologist about which options work best for you.
I agree that tackling this problem through nutrition is the way to go. Take a look around the web for reviews of NeoCell collagen and also hyaluronic acid. Your skin can tighten and glow within a couple of weeks.
Agrimony gave you a lot of good info and advice on vitamins you should be taking a well as looking into anti-aging skin care products that can help your cause. An added vitamin you could use is Selenium, which protects the skin's quality and elasticity and protects it from the sun. You can find it in crab, wheat germ, and eggs.
Definitely take a moment to look through this selection of the 10 best firming products as reviewed by other Total Beauty readers. Women say these products actually DO work to tighten skin and aren't a bunch of hype.
My name is Joe and a male at the age of 53 years. I have been introduced to a product called " Nu Skin Galvanic Spa and Transforming Solution Treatment". It is a a handheld product that will that brings the youthful look back to your skin. I am 26 & after I had my daughter I started noticing that my facial skin looked saggy too. I know it was from pregnancy but it stayed like that until I got a facial firming cream. I wasn't sure it would work but I got the Olay of night firming cream and within 2 weeks of using it I had people asking me if I had lost weight in my face. I hadn't but my skin had started to tighten up and made my face look thinner. I recommend this product to everyone I know. Seriously try it. It's only like $8 at the drugstore and it's soo worth it.

Using galvanic spa helps firm the skin. You can also try cheap anti-aging creams such as thos of Olay.
I use Omorovicza Rejuvenating Night Cream. It' perfect for my dry skin - very hydrating. It contains carrot oil and peptide which help boost collagen production.
I have the similar problem and I talked to my primary care physician, and she wrote me a prescription for Retin-A. I had it filled with the generic - Retinoid. It firms the skin, and as an extra added attraction, it gets rid of brown spots and acne. It actually started out as an acne medicine. After women started using it they noticed great differences in the overall appearance and elasticity of their skin.
