Cause of Breakout: New Primer or New Acne cleanser?
I had recently run out of my normal cleanser so I went to sephora and got a new foundation primer, Smashbox Photofinish primer, the clear one, and a murad acne cleanser. I had recently started breaking out ALL OVER AND REALLY BADLY! Im pretty sure its because of one of these products, but im not sure which one. Is there a way to tell? Ive stopped using the acne stuff and seeing if my breakout gets better, no change so far, but its onlybeen 2 days. Which is it?

Check the ingredients!

So sorry you are having issues....I would suggest that you check the ingredients in the primer especially. If it is a mineral oil or petroleum base then it is actually sealing your skin and trapping the bacteria which causes breakouts! Mineral oil is so bad and many products contain it...it actually acts like a plastic bag over your skin preventing it from doing its job properly....causing skin issues.
Additionally, sometimes when switching products you do get a breakout period b/c it causes the skin to turn over faster, but based on what you've said my bet is that the ingredients in the primer are the culprit!

The primer is the culprit!
Its the primer! The acne wash is helping to prevent the acne, and unless you are allergic to something in it (unlikely) it is not the problem. I bet it is the Smashbox Primer!
