Coarse, dry straight hair

I have the most coarse straight hair.  It almost won't grow any more, and it breaks unless I use heavy conditioners.  I put avocado oil on it, the only thing that seems to keep it halfway soft.  I used to dye it, but haven't lately, due to a detergent allergy.  I'm afraid I'd have an allergic reaction.

Can anybody recommend any products that can help my poor hair?

Thanks!

Re: Coarse, dry straight hair

Extra Virgin Coconut Oil saved my hair.  I also like The Olive Oil Replenishing Pak, also saved my hair.  Just like urs it's think, course and wouldn't grow.  Have you tried that karatin treatment?

re- coarse dry straight hair

a great shampoo that saved my hair is garnier fructis triple nutrion. its awesome. if you dont wanna try that, try to mix together an avacodo and some almond oil from a health store. thats full of moisture

Prissymakeup, thank you for your reply.  I feel for you, having the same hair!  I haven't tried the keratin treatment - which one do you mean?  I know I've used keratin before, in a hot oil pack, and I liked it - that's a good idea!

I've used virgin coconut oil, and I did like it - until I used it in the winter in a cold house, and my pores closed up with the harder (not real hard) coconut oil inside.  It was a good brand, so I was surprised.  Now, I'm reluctant to use it again, but I do make my own coconut milk to add my deep conditioner.  I've used olive oil, and it didn't seem to do much.

coarse hair

Aly, thank you for your suggestions.  I've used some Garnier conditioners - I'll try that one!

I've tried mashing an avocado, and it seems that the avocado oil I get (Spectrum) worked better on my straw, uh. hair.

The almond oil is an excellent suggestion.  I'm almost out (I was using Spectrum, also, but my store stopped carrying it).  So, I'll head for the health store!

Thank!

coarse hair, more ideas

Actually, my hair does grow some, but it breaks.  Just a week ago, I started using Yucca Root as a shampoo, and it's stronger now, with no breakage.

Also, this week, I'm trying sage as a natural dye.  I've used it before, and I think it helped my hair to grow!  I will update.

Thanks!

Update

I'm now using the yucca root sometimes, and in between I'm using FX silk drops.  That really helps!

I swear by Aveda

Aveda products have transformed my hair into what I thought I could only dream of. Aveda is so worth the money, you get the best results. It sounds like you need Damage Remedy, make sure to get the complete line for the best results.

Re: Coarse, dry straight hair

Dove conditioners make my hair very soft and manageable and it doesn't make my hair tangled.
