I saw my future niece, Eva, at her brother's b-day party last night. I thought that an easy way to connect with her might be via beauty because whether you're four or 104, you care about beauty-realted things, right? So I commented on her nails, which I thought were painted purple, and showed her mine -- a metallic grey color. (Incidently, I learned from someone who gets models ready super fast backstage at NYFW that a quick way to prettify your nails is to paint 'em a metallic hue.) Anhoo, back to Eva ... so she quickly corrected me saying, "Mine are grey too!"
Well, lemme just say I was super impressed and went onto to tell her how cool grey nail polish is and how on trend she is. I'm not really sure if she understood what I was talking about or why she picked a grey nail color when her mom took her to get a mani -- nonetheless, I thought it was worth sharing.
Have you ever rocked a grey polish on your nails or toes? If so, what brand and shade did you use? And do you dig metallic nail colors? If so, do share some of your faves.
7 RepliesHey! That's such a cute story :)
I am actually currently wearing "Chinchilly" from the Essie Fall 2009 Collection on my hands and LOVE IT! I am also a fan of Essie's "Sew Psyched" as well (this has a little bit of green in it). There is also a more metallic Gray...it's called "Over the Top" and it looks great on nails also! I'm finding that a lot of people actually like the gray nail polish (I will admit I was kind of nervous to get a manicure and paint my nails gray - I'm more of a pink polish girl). I def think it works for Fall!
I am LOVING this trend! About 6 months ago I was at Sephora and was immediately drawn to a new OPI color they had: You Don't Know Jacques. It is a purple/grey color and I absolutely adore it.
It looks darker in this pic than it does on. It's my new fav for my toenails, especially.
Thanks for sharing your faves, ladies. Keep on sharing...
I'll have to get back to you about which metallic hue I'm currently wearing (I'll check when I go home tonight), but Deborah Lippmann makes a putty-colored lacquer called Waking Up in Vegas that I heart. It def makes for an edgy nail look. I haven't tried it on my toes yet, have you?
That is adorable, what a fashionable little girl! I'm also wearing grey on my toes right now. I chose it for my engagement photo shoot since it would match both outfits I wore. At first I was a little weirded out by grey too, it seems like such a blah shade when you think about it, but it looks so chic on and matches with whatever you're wearing. Mine is Perfect Formula in Avant Gray, $15 (it looks a little darker in person than it does in this pic though) love it :)
Gosh, nothing is cuter than a four year old wearing (and being proud of) her nail polish. I was so THAT four year old back in the day. TODAY I am STILL proud. LOL. My fave gray color is actually more silver. Like, robot silver. I'm obsessed with Deborah Lippmann "Stardust".
i love sally hansen hard as nails polish in gunmetal . very metallic. :)
