Makeup
So I enjoy getting dolled up as much as the next girl, but some times after a weekend spent going out (wearing more makeup than I normally do), I like to take a little break. So I'm starting something called "No Makeup Mondays" where you give your face a break every Monday from makeup.
I'm also going to do either a mask or a peel on Mondays too to give my skin a complete rejuvenation. If you're down with this idea, post your own no makeup photo and let's see how it goes.
What do you guys think, good idea or silly? I'm going to try it for a month and see how it goes. It's probably good to give your face a day off every now and then.
5 RepliesOk, if I looked that good (aka had perfect skin), I would consider a no makeup monday, but I wasn't blessed like you Tracy. Perhaps I could do a no mascara monday (eek)? Baby steps?
haha I agree with you Anna. Def - baby steps. Maybe we can do a day where we eliminate one part of our makeup routine. For Anna - mascara. For me, it would probably be either eyeshadow or bronzer! If I don't wear concealer or foundation...it will look like I'm asleep!
Tracy - I think you look great! You're very lucky you can get away with no makeup. Anyway - I do think it's a good idea to give your skin a break from all the makeup... perhaps on the weekends? :) I also think it's good to do a mask/peel once a week to revive your skin! (It will help get rid of dead skin & clean your pores). I find that my skin is a lot smoother and shinier after I do that....normally on Sundays. Any other ideas?
So its been about a month, how did no makeup mondays go? Did you stay dedicated or stray a bit? (I know I would)
I only strayed on Monday, but then I did a no makeup Tuesday and Friday that week to make up for it :) It was totally fun and I didn't feel like anyone really noticed so I'm going to keep doing it :)
I do this, though not in any particular day of the week. My hair colorist, also a cosmetologist, says your skin needs to "breathe" now & then and get a rest from all the products you use. So if I'm not going to go out, like a day of housecleaning & laundry for example, I have bare skin. If my skin feels a bit tight or dry, I use just a little serum. But that's it.
Of course, with bare skin, I have no contact with the sun at all. Even with the short walk to the laundry room, I walk in the shade.
And on a related topic, I stopped washing my face in the morning since I have dry skin. That seemed to dry it out more, and besides my face isn't really dirty in the a.m. and I was mainly doing it to wake up. So instead I splash a little water on my face, but I don't wash it.
