Makeup
I am so excited to be a part of this community. Now that Fall is coming, do any of you have any favorite beauty products you will definitely buying? What is essential in your makeup routine to help you and your skin get through winter?
7 RepliesHi Stef,
We're thrilled to have you as part of this community. I hope you really enjoy it. I'm excited for fall too, though normally it is because it's a relief from the heat--not quite the case this summer as it has been unseasonably cool in Southern California, but a change of seasons is always nice.
So what typically happens to me in the fall and into the winter is that I begin to get really dry skin and chapped lips so really being diligient about my moisturizer is crucial. I don't neccesarily have a favorite moisturizer (mostly because I'm always sampling new products), but I recently tried out argan oil (http://edenallure.com/) and LOVE it.
It's super moisturizing and is said to have natural age defying properties. I sampled it recently and though it was so pleasant to use...I definitely had a bit of a glow for the rest of the day too.
I don't change too much else with my skin care routine other than that. Ohh and I'm actually really excited to try a super seasonal pumpkin peel I just found from a company called Golden Path Alchemy (http://www.goldenpathalchemy.com/masks/abundance_mask.html). I'll probably try it out while I'm sipping a pumpkin spice latte. LOL
One thing that I always use, especially during fall and winter, is Chicken Poop Lip Junk. I know it sounds funny, which is part of its charm, but it also works really well on my lips. No more chapped lips for me :)
I have to have neosporines renewing lipbalm a night renewal balm that you apply at night so you dont lick or chew it off. Its amazing you will have new lips in the morning.
@Tracy,
Have you tried the Argan Oil in your hair? I'm dying to try it out...I read you can use it on skin or hair. Sounds like a great option if it works for both..:)
My two favorite products that are pretty much year-round are the Bubblegum lip scrub by LUSH and my homemade body scrub.
I suffer from keratosis pilaris (probably butchered the name) but it's nickname is "chicken skin". On my arms and legs I get SUPER dry and get these little bumps. The only thing (that doesn't break the bank) that works for me is the scrub that I make. Now, I am horrible at measuring things so I eyeball for the most part. I use Grapeseed oil, honey, and sugar. That's it! It's soooo moisturizing and you can even use it AFTER you shave your legs! Another secret... I use hair conditioner as a shaving cream. It works beautifully and doesn't clog the razor!
Here are the benefits of Grapeseed oil and Honey.

You can use the scrub on your lips as well but, the LUSH one is just so yummy!
I absolutely love argan oil. I've used it on my face and hair and it's just amazing. My skin had an amazing glow after I used it :)
I switch to a heavier face cream and must use body lotion every day. I like using Bath & Body Works but sometimes switch to more therapuetic lotions when it gets bitterly cold because my skin gets super dry.
